I was surprised when I found this place. Thinking about its location and exterior, I would imagine it to be a somewhat low-quality salon. But, thinking like that, I would be wrong. This place is actually quite eye-catching on the inside and very welcoming. They have a clean environment to work in, which provides me with comfort. The staff are definitely among the nicest stylists I've met. They can tolerate children in their chairs, which is more than I can say for other places. They have a way of talking to anyone and making them feel very welcome and at home. Since it is classified as a 'family' salon, the prices are actually cheaper than other places. I don't feel like I'm blowing my whole paycheque on a hairdo, which is definitely a nice thing. Riverpark Beauty, here I come!

I was going to head to my usual place, but they were closed. Crap! What's a man to do? I hopped in my car and drove to the closest establishment that seemed to indicate they cut hair - this one. Now, understand, my hair is VERY simple to cut. It's a #1. Everywhere. You just buzz it, make sure you don't leave anything too long and you're golden. In theory I could do it myself, but I like the human interaction and the assurance of knowing that someone else with an eagle-eye vantage point of my incredibly well shaped head has taken care of the task for me. When I went up to the desk I was "greeted" by a girl who looked no older than 19 and had the demeanor of someone at a funeral. She was not a happy camper. This made me nervous - you never want the person with the razor close to your head to be unhappy. Situations were saved when a perfectly charming woman emerged from the back and took over, directing me where to sit. I noticed that there was hair everywhere. But it's a hair salon and it WAS the end of the day, so that's to be expected. Also note that there was nowhere to hang up your jacket. I found this really weird considering it is winter and I was wearing a puffy jacket that would make the Michelin man jealous. I tossed my jacket over a chair, sat down and got what was a very thorough hair cut. She took her time, covered all the angles and made sure everything was even. So, the haircut was A+, but be reminded that I'm not someone who requires "styling". I have ONE hairstyle: "Short." So I can't really testify to how good their work is. In the end it was expensive than my regular spot at $18 for a cut, which I thought just a little overpriced. My experience was just "A-OK". They didn't bowl me over with their service and I didn't get a wash after the cut (a personal pet peeve of mine), but to her credit the girl who cut my hair really took her time to do a good job where others have just rushed through it and left me feeling nervous about loose sprouts.
