I am very disturbed by the horrific experience I endured at Red Bloom on 85th. I asked for a highly experienced stylist in which I was set up with Max, the highest level stylist in this salon. I wanted to keep my hair blonde as I have had it for over 15 years. He recommended a global. I walked away happy with the cokour results not so much the haircut. Within days, my hair drastically is falling out I noticed in my baths. I was using high end shampoo, no change in hair procedures. I couldn't notice a difference right away due to the large amount of breakage was in the back of my head. It got worst and worse. I was told by max to not use straightener and continue using k18. I did as he told me. My hair continued to fall out. I was told to not touch my hair with heat at all and that they can not due my hair. And this advice continued at a complaint follow up appointment. The most disgusting part of this experience is that the management got involved and they refused to take responsibility or give me a refund. I paid over 400 for this nightmare. I went to other salons to get feedback and it was without a doubt due to the bleaching process max did on my hair. My hair was falling out and breaking due to the bleach damaging my hair completely. In the beginning max told me he used a k18 process before bleaching which will stop any source of damage or breaking. This was the first lie from this company. I talked to the second level of management and she gave me a refund. That is the least you could do in the begining. Instead I argued it with Red Bloom management and staff saying they are not sure what caused the breakage etcetc trying to find a way out of reimbursement and accountability. It left me a night mare . I still have not been able to dye my hair as no salon will do it after 6 months of being stuck with ugly roots and half a head of hair. I've had to by wigs on top of this cost that I do not fond comfortable and don't make me feel good. I've had to go for treatments at other salons to get my hair to a healthy condition, and I'm continuing to do this. I've bought expensive products to help bring my hair back to life. I have endured depression and anxiety due to this horrible experience regarding Redbloom. If they do anything wrong to you and your hair, they will not hold themselves accountable and they will not help you recover from their horrible treatment thereafter. read more

Moving here from another city is always tough to locate a new stylist. I've tried many places and have yet to find a fit ... UNTIL NOW! My boyfriend was first to check this place out and he loved that it was not fake and snobby. I then booked an appointment with Mandy. The salon itself is in a new plaza which has an ice cream shop (BONUS!) with tons of parking! No having to pay for parking like downtown location. The decor in the salon is beautiful and relaxing. I love the aromas of Aveda which lingers throughout the salon. Mandy was warm, welcoming and friendly. I'm pretty easy with my hair but wanted a low maintenance easy to take care of hair style which she figured out right away. The cut was quick and I loved the head massage and makeup touch up. I haven't been to this location but have been to the one in bridgeland. The one there is awesome ! On with the review.... Today I went for an ice cream, and when sitting in my across the street from redbloom salon, I watched a bored receptionist do something very unhygienic. The salon seemed empty, so she went up to the makeup bar that's in front of the window and started doing her make up. The problem is, she was using the products RIGHT ON her face (eyeliner, mascara, brushes for face cosmetics), then replacing them with out cleaning what she used. Ummm, yuck ! It's very unprofessional and super unhygienic for customers. This redbloom is the closest to my home, and it has deterred from going there in the future. read more

I would like to start off by saying that I give Danielle a 5. She is fantastic. She does a great job cutting my hair, is friendly but not overbearing, and works quickly and professionally. I will keep coming back just as long as she is there. Why the downgrade? Stop pushing your products! Aveda is the main line here, on the pricey side, but I will occasionally buy some of the products. I just don't like the aggressive product push that is Red Bloom's Policy. I know, you make money off your hair products. I know, you make money off all those cosmetics you want to "try out" on your clients when you request to "freshen up" their look after their cut. I know Red Bloom makes all the stylists follow the hair-product-cosmetic-line-push-procedure. Thank you Danielle for being so subtle and gentle about it. I just don't like this angle. The second downside, and this is not really Red Bloom's fault, is that I have to put up with all the snooty west-side ladies while I am there. Yes, I am a west-side lady, but not like the stereotypical, entitled, under-worked and pampered sort that hang here. Oh well. Some things I will put up with for a good stylist. read more

This is regarding the 85th location. I've only been at this location 3 or 4 times, however I once left a voice message on their system requesting to know more information about the salon. This was before my very first visit. They took 3 days to return my call which for a premium brand I found it to be quite poor service. Anyway I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and go anyway. I set up my next appointment for this month but had to rush out of town. The appointment was supposed to be scheduled for this Thursday. I however called last Friday indicating that I would not be able to make it, and for me to reschedule a day or two later. Well guess what? Nobody called again!!! I just now received a call asking if I'm going to be making my appointment for this Thursday. I said to the girl, "you've got to be kidding me right"?? I mentioned the two issues and asked well first of all, why is no one picking up the phone during business hours considering you have two people at the counter at all times; and why do you not return calls? She says "oh I'm sorry we must have been busy". Oh really, well you know what? I'm busy as well and will never return to this or any of your locations. I'm sure the hairstylist enjoys loosing clients over the stupidity of others. They can advertise all they want, if their customers service sucks then there is no point. read more

I had an amazing first experience with redbloom. I called on a Sunday morning skeptical that they would have room. The reception, Kenna, was very helpful and friendly and found me an open appointment for that day at another Redbloom that had space. She also listened to my concerns regarding what kind of cut I want and placed me with the right stylist. My stylist, Claire, was also amazing. We talked for a good 15 minutes about my hair type and style and it made me feel confident about the style she was going to do. Not only am I really happy with my hair I also learnt a bunch of tricks and techniques to style my hair on my own. I was also impressed that she didn't just wash my hair with generic shampoo she used shampoo that was suited to my hair (a detox to remove the silicon in it and a lighter curly shampoo). It has taken me a million years to find a good hair dresser, but Claire is amazing! I've seen her multiple times over the past 3 years and could not ask for anyone better. I love this salon, the atmosphere is so soothing and everyone is so nice. I'm always so excited to go because it is literally a spa experience. My hair always looks amazing and I get so many compliments. All the products used are plant based so you don't leave with your hair completely fried. I've been seeing Danielle for a little over a year now and a client of Red Bloom for 4 years. Danielle is AMAZING. I can't say enough about what a great job she does. My hair always looks great when I leave. She knows I'm a low maintenance girl and always gives me a cut that's easy to style. She always greets me with a hug and I never feel like she's pushing unnecessary products. It's a little bit more expensive here but totally worth it. As a guy, I was hesitant to get my hair cut at a fancy salon. But the cost is definitely worth it for the quality of cut and level of service. I am picky about my haircuts, because I have straight, thick Asian hair that is difficult to keep from pointing outwards and looking bad. I get my hair cut by Nicky-Marie, and she makes sure my hair looks great for the whole 4 weeks between appointments! She clearly knows what she's doing, so I mostly just let her do what she thinks would look best on me instead of giving specific directions, and I'm happy with the result. Since she moved to the new location, I now have to drive all the way across the city to see her, but it's worth it! read more

I went to this location with hopes of getting my hair fixed. They recommended I see one of their intermediate stylists Taylor. She fried my hair. Her total lack of understanding of my situation drove me nuts and drove me to tears. PLEASE don't ever book with redbloom. They are the scummiest salon I've been to. I had to pay full price too even though Taylor fried my hair. They told me I'd have to pay full price to get it fixed too. Awful place. I'm upset I have to leave one star. read more

This salon was a huge upgrade from any place I have ever gone to. Taylor is great, she does amazing color jobs. I have been to her twice for highlights and a trim and both times were amazing. If you are looking for balayage/natural highlights she is great! Although I live in the Mission area it was worth the 11K drive to Red Bloom at 8561-8A Ave, SW. The salon is located in the boon-docks - but has an edgy, nice vibe.The rates are extremely reasonable compared to salon costs in the North East. Danielle is fabulous, second to none.
