BUYER BEWARE. So I have never had my hair professionally colored before so I wanted to spoil myself 1 day and decided to get a new hairstyle. I researched different trendy hairstyles until I came upon an "ombre". Which was described as darker color at the roots, and gradually gets lighter through the mid-shaft to the ends (transitioning colors). It looked AMAZING in the picture so I thought I HAD to have it! I called 5 hair salons and they were all booked, except one, Hair Studio. So they scheduled me for the next morning. So I came in, sat down with this hair stylist and showed her a picture of a beautiful brown to blonde ombre. She says, yea we can do this for you! So we start talking about hair styles and she tries to explain the difference between an ombre and a balayage, because I'm not familiar with every hair technique but when I googled ombre, there are 2 terms, one was used back in the 90's meaning "dipped" no once touches the top part of your hair, just the bottom. The second, and newest version is what I had explained to the stylist. She started by taking my ends and dying them a very bright blonde and she kept that blonde in my hair for the 20 minutes and it wasn't the color she wanted so she added more hair dye and then proceeded to go out for a cigarette. Mind you, she never wore gloves, and I never saw her wash her hands. The color still wasn't light enough for her so she decided to put my hair in foils and I sat for another hour. So by now the color still isn't as blonde as the stylist wanted so she puts me under a dryer for a half hour. Then we rinsed it out, put toner all over my hair and I was done. So when it was wet, it looked good because it looked darker, so I told her it looked good. She didn't blow dry it all the way because she was "worried about my ends"... So later that day it starts to dry and turn back to my normal color (I had boxed gold blonde color in my hair and my roots were showing about 2-3 inches). So I got mad and wanted them to re do it. So I call and they have me come in the next day and the same stylist was asking me why I wanted it redone, since I said I "loved it so much" and I said, I NEVER said I loved it, I said it looked good because it was wet. I didn't know it was going to go back to my old color once it dried. I thought the toner would take care of that. So for 20 mins we go back and forth about the same picture I showed her the last time I was there. She then told me that she would charge me for a "touch up". And I go, why?? I asked for an ombre, which mean dark at the top, lighter in the middle and lightest at the bottom. She then asked me, what color do you want it? And I said well, the ends are already blonde so we have to go off that color and work our way up. She said she couldn't do that. And pulled out a color book, shoved my head to the left and began to find my root color. She said I was a level 713, what color do you want to be? And I said I don't know what color it should be. I know that needs it to compliment my skin tone. This lady begins to ask the same question, what color do you want?? And I said listen, you are the professional, not me. Help me, help you, help me! So 10 more minutes of that and I was fed up! I said I need a refund so I can go somewhere, where someone knows how to do ombres. And she said, ombres, balayages they're the same thing. I go, no they are not and I explained the most recent kind of ombre and she goes "that's the new ombre". I said that's what I was expecting. She then told me she was going to charge me $45 per color I needed to complete the ombre called a "touch up" and that it wasn't included in my original purchase. So I ask for a refund and she told me her manager is in, in the morning and gives me her name. So I call in the morning and leave a message. I don't hear anything back by noon so I call again, and who do you think answers the phone? The manager! She says, oh yea I know you called, but I was going to wait until I took a break to call you back, but here you are! ...So then I tell her everything I'm telling you guys and I'm almost positive I'm getting a refund and she tells me, well the best I can do is have another girl here add more blonde. And I literally go speechless! I'm like why would I want more blonde!? I didn't say anything remotely close to wanting blonde! She then tells me that since we put a lot of product on your hair and the stylist spent 3 hours on it, a refund would not be given. And I go crazy! I told her I did not spend 3 hours there, it was 2 and a half, which is another reason I want a refund. And then she tells me they don't even do ombres there! I was told I was given an ombre! So now I'm out $102 and have very blonde ends, crappy gold box blonde color for the middle and dark roots coming through.
