My regular hair lady was not available until January but I was desperate for some hair TLC. I had heard good things about Bloom - booking an appointment was easy; I asked for someone good with fine hair and making good recommendations regarding coloring (highlights, etc). Elizabeth (Beth) was AMAZING. My cut is GREAT, but the color.... WOW. She suggested lowlights and baby lights (two things I've never had done) and she was spot on. My hair came out just the way I wanted it to (nope, BETTER!) and I left feeling great. Yes, the appointment took a while, and yes the prices are up there, but you get what you pay for; the salon is modern, there is a coffee/tea/water bar, the staff is super friendly, and the stylists are definitely knowledgeable. I came in with extremely long hair. At 8pm. Creating an appointment was easy, online, and I did not mind going in late at all. It's best for my schedule. I wanted a huge chop (over 14 inches!) and had somewhat of an idea of bangs I wanted. Bekah treated my hair like it was a precious child. She immediately asked if I was donating my hair (even I forgot I was) and helped tie off my strands and even placed them in a bag for me. She helped me figure out a good length and asked if I was okay while she cut the majority off. She also asked my preference on where I like to part my hair too (which again I totally forgot that existed). I appreciated that because I was slightly freaking out. Ladies, surely you know what I mean. The hair washing? Therapeutic. She then helped my indecisive self with the chosen length of shaggy bangs. I knew it was almost closing time for the salon, but Bekah made me feel like the cut wasn't being rushed at all and made sure I was happy with the result. I was super comfortable during the whole process. It's been YEARS since I've stepped into a salon for a haircut y'all. After styling and some curling, I fell in love with my new look. I'm so satisfied with just everything, including the prices! I highly recommend Bekah (and not just because we have the same name). read more

Came in for a haircut: The waiting room is a couch with coffee and water. You can also shop for hair products in the front. The greeter and sales clerk was very welcoming. My hairdresser was very professional and she cleaned up my look very nice. She even curled my hair to give me a little extra for a party. They also give you a small token of shampoo samples and coupons when you leave. I did hear about this place from an app called "pretty quick" -- an app that works like Uber for haircuts. The sales clerk refused to accept my pretty quick reference, even though I showed her the app and reservation made. read more

The staff is so nice, however.... I went in to get my highlights touched up. I left in tears with the worst hair color I have ever seen on my head. I went back in and a different stylist attempted to fix it. My hair is now fried and breaking. I was blonde before all of this, and now my hair is dark brown with brassy/orange roots and thin gray highlights. My husband normally tells me my hair looks beautiful the second I get home from a hair appointment. Even he admits that the color looks terrible. We are going to Vegas this week for his 30th birthday. I don't even want to go anymore. :( P.S. I was still charged full price for this. read more

I found my hair person! It's Paige at Bloom Salon! I had a cut and bayalage color done with her today and I am beyond pleased :) Paige took my blah brown hair and transformed it into the child of all the sample photos I brought to her. The front desk receptionist Angela And the owner herself are very rude and not accommodating. I had booked two appointments at the same time for me and my sister. We were running 10 mins late for parking, so I called and gave them a heads up that we are coming just running behind. Angela said it's okay as long as it's not more than 10 mins, but once we got there in 9 mins in fact, she refused to see one of us. We also spoke with the owner and she was rude about it too and not accommodating. Here is a feedback: be courteous to your customers especially when they call ahead and let you we are stuck. Life happens Anyway, they were so rude that we both walked out. Never returning! read more

This poor review is in regards to Meg. I've been coming to bloom salon for many years but I had seen Elizabeth who I loved and no longer works there. So I called ahead about a couple weeks ago and made an appointment for a haircut and full highlight which I know is time consuming so I had no problem waiting. I got to my appointment 7 minutes late. I've gotten to bloom salon plenty of times on time and waited a bit for my hair stylist to finish up before sitting me down. So it was really jarring when I got to the chair with Meg who immediately had a terrible attitude. She immediately said "so tell me what you're wanting to do during this consultation and I'll tell you what I have time for". I politely explained I was looking for a hair cut and full highlights. She then again gave attitude and tried to convince me I couldn't get highlights because my hair is too dark and "it would take a while to lighten up". I knew immediately this would not be a good fit. She told me then that she only had time for partial highlights and that if I wanted full highlights I would have to rebook. I then questioned how it was that I had to book again because I had already told the receptionist two weeks ago that I wanted to book for full highlights. She nastily told me it was because I was late. I understand it is rude to be late, but being 7 minutes behind should not make the difference between getting partial and full highlights. Also it is rude to question a service a customer is asking for because of the color of their hair. It is clear she is only there for a nice 9-5 schedule. Which great! But then don't accept the appointment and waste people's time would not recommend booking with Meg. read more

Bloom really is as good as it gets! I work nearby and recently made an appointment to have my nails done in this adorable new addition to "downtown" Arlington Heights. I had a great experience there. First of all, the space is beautiful. It's minimal, but warm & inviting. It seems all the details were well thought out. I was greeted right away and cheerfully by the staff member at front desk, and immediately introduced to my manicurist, Bella. I do love having my appointments on time. Swoon. I was offered a beverage and picked out my color. The selection was limited, but I got compliments on my color (Gouda Gouda Two Shoes) for days afterward. Bella was super friendly and did a wonderful job on my nails. She was very thorough & the polish lasted for several days. I found out she's also an esthetician, so I may be by for a facial one day after work. I really enjoyed my visit & will surely be a regular! read more

I have been going to the same person for my hair since I was 14. However, with COVID and my work schedule changing, I decided to try someone closer to home. One of my friends recommended Bloom, and my research made me think Becca would be a good fit. I was so right. She gave me an ultra low-maintenance but beautiful cut that looks great whether I style it or just let it air dry. She also recommended a couple of really good products but wasn't pushy about selling anything (which was nice since I was actually interested in buying them anyway) She explained what products she used and why they'd be good for my hair -- but without making it sound like THE CONSEQUENCES WOULD BE DIRE if I didn't use them. She was also bubbly and fun to talk to; she made me feel comfortable right away. As for the salon itself, it's clean and modern inside, everyone is friendly and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering how great my cut is. I will definitely be going back. I was in search of a salon for my wedding hair & makeup. After having a semi-negative experience with Ulta and cancelling my wedding trial there, I went on Yelp. After reading the numerous great reviews on Yelp, I decided to check out Bloom Salon. The prices seemed pretty reasonable for the services that you get. After speaking with the very nice owner, Barbara, I booked my trial with Reagan about a month in advance. I showed Reagan a picture of how I wanted to do my hair - a bridal half-do and she had no problem replicating the look. As far as the makeup, I did not give her much direction - basically said that I wanted to look natural but also formal (since it is my wedding after all!) and she did an excellent job on my makeup as well. This salon only uses Aveda products, which now, I am a huge fan of. The makeup feels light and does not cake over time. When I came back in on the day of my wedding, I also brought my mom and 2 of my bridesmaids to get their hair and makeup done as well. All of us had an excellent experience at the salon. We all looked like models when we were done! Barbara even served us coffee and snacks, while we waited. Reagan quickly got started on my hair first - doing the half-do just like she had for my trial. It looked just like I had wanted it and it held together all night! Afterwards, she started on my makeup, again, doing it just the way we had talked about in the trial a month before. It also turned out absolutely beautiful. I could not recognize myself in the mirror! I got compliments all day on how great I looked. If I could do this all over again, I would still choose Bloom Salon for my wedding look. In fact, I will be back there soon! I was a very satisfied bride! Five weeks ago I received a terrible hair cut from another salon. After the experience I was hesitant to get my hair cut, given I did not know where to go. Unfortunately, I got called into a last minute corporate meeting and needed a hair cut ASAP. My neighbor had suggest Bloom, but I never called. In desperation I called and Bloom fit me in. Sara cut my hair, correcting all the issues and I look great. I was surprised Bloom went to such great lengths for a new customer. Thankfully for me, I see no bad hair days in my future. read more

In the overwhelming process of planning a wedding in three months, I had the hardest time finding a salon that would even call me back about hair and makeup for my wedding. Thank goodness I found Bloom! From the moment I first called, they took great care of me. Since the receptionist could tell that I was in a time crunch, she booked myself and my entire wedding party right away just in case, and then put me in touch with Colleen, the wedding coordinator, to confirm everything. Colleen was great about getting me the information I needed and, when she happened to be on vacation during our correspondence, one of the staff from the salon replied to my email just to acknowledge that they had received it and to let me know when she would be back. It was amazing to have an update so I wasn't left wondering, especially since I'd had wedding vendors fall off the radar in the middle of our communication before. The email updates and the text confirmations of our appointments certainly put my mind at ease. Fast forward to the wedding day, I had my hair and makeup done by Reagan. I opted out of a trial because I really didn't have a preference for my hair and, honestly, I'm just too lazy to drive to the burbs so she didn't really have a lot to go on. She did a great job with my hair and makeup and my hair managed to make it throughout the entire day despite rain, snow and high winds. Amazing! The other stylists were great, too. They happily accommodated my perpetually late family (they drive me crazy!) and gave the flower girls a little complimentary makeup application because they were jealous of mine. They even went out of their way to find umbrellas to walk us to the car afterwards. The services were reasonably priced as well, which really helps when you're on a budget. They even let me use the $20 off coupon for first time customers on their website. Nothing like a little wedding day savings! I'm so happy I ended up at Bloom. read more

Lindsay was very sweet but gave me a terrible haircut. It was so choppy and not at all what I wanted. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she seemed to understand what I wanted - at first. I wanted lots of layers and face framing layers. She cut my whole hair in a straight line and then haphazardly gave me face framing layers with no rhyme or reason just chop chop chop wherever she wanted. I left the salon with my hair still wet and looking like a mop. I just had to get a second haircut just to fix the mess she made. read more

It seems like the road is littered with mediocre Salons. Great ones are hard to find.  If you're looking for a great salon, look no further. Right in downtown Arlington Heights, Bloom is always clean and presentable. I typically have no issues getting appointments. The text appt reminders are super helpful as well. I get all my Aveda products from their store. It is super convenient. All these perks come with some drawbacks tho: Sometimes parking can be a little hard to find. Be prepared to pay a little more than you would at a mediocre salon. read more

Ok ok ok, yeah ANOTHER salon. I was driving too far to the last one, and I was also late to my last TWO appointments, so I just had to bite the bullet and find something more convenient. Going to a new salon is scarier to me than a root canal. Thankfully, I was greeted at the door by a friendly face who asked if I was Rachel, and introduced herself as Robyn. Robyn has an approachable, professional appearance with just enough edge for my liking. The salon itself is large, open, extremely clean, and smells amazing - thanks to the Aveda product line. Robyn gave me a great wash, talked about what I wanted done to my mess of a mane, and I ended up with a great cut and blowdry. Money well spent. read more

The only reason I give this place 5 stars is due to Rachel! She is really good at what she does. The other girls I have come across aren't quite as friendly or come across as snobie, (if thats even a word) but I come in just for her! I have dark, coarse hair and wanted to go lighter from being black, and as people with hair like mine know, it can be a real nightmare! I went to 2-3 places before and my hair just kinda looked blah and brassy. But Rachel listens to what you want and is careful about what she's doing. All my highlights have looked very tasteful! It is a little on the higher end and probably as expensive as I would go. ($50 for a cut... eeeekkk) but the highlights I find are a good deal. I usually pay $150 for a full set. In fact I have an appointment with her next week to go a little lighter. Cant wait! read more

Updated review. I visited this Aveda salon for the first time 2 years ago. The owner working at the front desk took my call and fit me in on short notice. She welcomed me when I got there treated me like well from the moment I arrived. Good customer service! This salon was immaculate, with a warm, friendly vibe. I had a color and cut. I was happy with the results and thought it was a great Aveda salon experience. (Dec 2013). Something has changed, this place is not like most Aveda salons I've been to. Here's what happened during a recent visit. The owner (a mature and experienced business woman I thought) was not there. The staff and stylists on duty (many) were in their 20s and 30s - most didn't care much about professionalism since no one was supervising. They were loud, talking and laughing, in full on party mode. Music was cranked up, no one felt like cleaning up. (Smocks on floor, messy work stations, magazines everywhere). I felt like I walked into a sorority house. I felt uncomfortable the whole time. Was anxious for the experience to be over. Overall. Not a good experience. Unsure if I will return. Another update. Some changes have been made. I am a regular customer again. Have a stylist I like, I always receive courteous treatment, and I'm getting great results with each visit. Nice job, Bloom. Almost two months ago, a woman at a cheap nail salon practically waxed off my eyebrows. In an attempt to grow them back, I literally have not touched my brows since...scary. Enter Tiffany @ Bloom Salon. i walked into the salon semi-embarrassed by the state of my scraggly brows, but quickly was calmed knowing that I was in good hands. Tiffany asked if I was willing to work on getting my brows back into good shape because one visit was not going to cut it. About twenty minutes later, my brows looked a thousand times better and are one step closer to normalcy. Tiffany did a fantastic job, and I'm looking forward to getting into a routine to get some great brows. Bonus points = the price was the same as the place that destroyed my brows which is pretty impressive considering this is an Aveda-concept salon. And Tiffany took me over to the makeup station and applied some lipstick. How fun! I'm obsessed with Aveda products and am super excited that there is now an Aveda salon within walking distance of my house. I'm looking forward to continue my eyebrow adventure and will definitely be checking out the other services at the salon. read more

I've been coming to bloom salon for the past five years. I don't have a regular stylist as I tend to make the appointment with what fits in my schedule versus certain days. The online booking is my dream. My favorite person to get my eyebrows done is Janine. She's incredible and down to earth. I've had Paige cut my hair and she's attentive and easy to talk to. Bloom Salon is a great place for a haircut. Giselle always does a great job on my hair and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. My wife has been happy with her hair cuts and coloring there too. To be honest, I tried all of the budget hair cut places and barber shops, but the cut and style that I get at Bloom just looks great. When you arrive, the stylist checks to see what you're looking to have done. Then, it's off to the sinks for a scented head massage, shampoo, and conditioner. If you've read other reviews of mine, you would know I had an awful experience at another "salon." That haircut made me feel so awful that it took me 6 months to get another one. Needless to say, I was more than worried about getting a haircut especially with trying a whole new salon. I found Bloom on Yelp of course and thought I'd check them out. I set up my appointment in the morning for the same day and explained over the phone about my nervousness and past experience. The receptionist was very polite and told me that she would make sure it was better at their property. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately and everyone was so friendly! It was afternoon during the week, so not very busy, but you could tell the customers there were regulars. Monica was my stylist! I told her about everything and showed her some pictures of styles I liked. She gave me polite guidance about what would look best and work best for my hair type. Then, she walked me over to the shampooing area. She started with a scalp massage that was INCREDIBLE. I've never been so relaxed!!! Monica was so gentle and the products she used made my hair smell and feel amazing! Afterward she took me back to her station to cut my hair. Monica really was great. She was easy to talk to and like I said, so gentle. She dried my hair and I was so excited with how it was going!!! She ended up thickening my bangs a little and then it was perfect!!! I've honestly never had a better hair cut than this one. I almost cried telling her thank you!!!
