But I was already out about $50 in lice removal products that 1) did not work and 2) my kid screamed through for HOURS, plus 3) they were recommended by the pediatrician AND the school nurse; so gave it a shot. I didn't love that they distracted my preschooler from a no-TV household with videos, but it was effective in keeping her still enough to treat. And after checking the rest of the household they didn't try to sell us on removal services that only one kid needed, which was great. (They did urge me to recommend the $25 head check to close contacts, but that didn't seem unreasonable under the circumstances). They also provide a clearly written fact sheet (with attached request to provide a review [eyeroll]), which dispels some persistent internet myths about the level of house cleaning required after lice are discovered, and they were patient answering follow up questions. A bit of upsell on products but not too bad, and the pressure to provide a review is a bit obnoxious but not worse than some other businesses in the community. A week in, so far so good, the treatment seems to have done its job. I may modify this review if there's a recurring problem right after the 30 day guarantee expires, but for now I feel like they earned the sought-after 5 stars. Pro tip - there's a 30 day guarantee and screenings are M-F 10-12. So, if you have a treatment, before leaving the salon or shortly after schedule a screening for late within the 30 day guarantee window; in the likely event the school calendar includes a holiday or a professional day falling late within the 30 days you can schedule the screening for that M-F day off. You can always cancel if something changes but it keeps you from having to pay twice or having your kid miss school.

I called at around 8:30 p.m. and got a human, and was able to make an appointment for the next morning, which was wonderful. (I'd treated lice myself several years earlier, and was not eager to repeat the hours upon hours of work removing lice and nits.) However, I still spent about 3.5 hours working through my daughter's long, curly hair, and removed about 20 live lice and a dozen or so nits, before giving up and going to sleep. The next morning, the DeLice lady started going through her dry hair, and pulled out about the same number of lice and nits... obviously I hadn't been very thorough. She spent a little over an hour working on her, told me I had done a great job and saved her a lot of work, and said my daughter looked good. She also checked me and gave me a clean bill of health. WELL... that night, after my daughter showered, I went through her hair with a nit comb and pulled out another 3-5 live lice. I immediately called the DeLice Fairy, who again answered the phone at this unusual hour (very nice!), and made an appointment for the following afternoon. My husband took her, and said she found only one nit, and that was all. Several days later, after her shower, I was combing through her hair with the nit comb and found ANOTHER 4-5 live lice, and some nits. I've also found one or two on myself since she told me I was lice-free. I'm frustrated, but I'm not going to bother going back, because I don't believe her process is very thorough, and I don't trust it to do the job. For $95/hour, I expect better.
