Having gone through electrolysis a time before in Texas, I was prepared to deal with a lot of discomfort. I mean, a needle in a follicle with electricity. Damn. I started going to Shelley a little over a few months ago. Shelley is great and she has a very accomodating schedule. I'm very glad I opted for electrolysis because it is the ONLY permenant hair removal process available. I thought laser was but you have to go once a year continuously. Electrolysis isn't all that painful and beats going to salons or doing messy home waxing. read more

Sorry, damaged my skin so that it took way too long to heal. Not enough areas treated where she said she finished and she got it all. Not true. Many of the hairs grew back in the areas that she obviously treated, and hit them hard. I'm an esthetician, and I knew and sensed something wasn't right with my healing process and then the hairs grew back in way too many the areas, very disappointed. The dog should be left in another room, even though it's cute, not a fan of animals being forced upon me. read more

Shelley only has 5 reviews. they're all from women. none are from 2012. this is significant. please read on, ESPECIALLY if you're a fellow. i'm from San Francisco, just moved with my fiance to West Seattle this past summer. in my naivete, my search for electrolysis for his formidable ingrown beard hairs stopped the minute my Google search plopped me on Yelp, which is a very useful tool as long as you do research within the results, and cross reference them with outside sources. I was impetuous, and called Shelley right away, as she is only 10 mins from where we live. btw, i've had 2 laser resurfacing gigs, about 6 botox's, IPL, etc. I'm no rube when it comes to skincare. Shelley is unprofessional. She works out of her home, which is fine, what was not fine was how, at K's first session, her little dog, although adorable, was relentlessly barking and scooting around the treatment room while Shelly did nothing but routine 'shushing' that was wholly ineffective. she told us that the dog 'never has done this before'. nice way to make us feel welcome.....NOT! -she works the pedal with a bare foot. -she, to the best of my memory, (i was there for my guy's first two sessions) only wears a glove on ONE hand. -she appears to listen to what the client wants, but then proceeds to overwork an area to the point where my guy has persistently had long lasting sores for days into weeks after a treatment with her. it would appear that she aggressively over-needles. -she talks ALOT while she works. she talks TO THE HAIR. like some kind of coach: "'c'mon, i almost gotcha there....oh darn, let me go in and try again'. i'm not kidding. my guy was compliant. what was he going to do? other noteworthy aspects: initially we made it abundantly clear, and then K continued to reiterate that he wanted her to EVENLY work on each side of his face. she did whatever she wanted and had a bevvy of reasons why she nearly exclusively canoodled only one side of his face. which looks RAVAGED. beyond her actual skill set: by session #3, i wasn't coming along anymore, and wouldn't you know, she began to call my guy the morning of the appointment, tell him he needed to come say, a half hour later, and THEN, when he did adjust his day to suit her, she would make him wait, CONSISTENTLY, for 3 sessions in a row, for a half hour to 45 minutes in her hallway, sometimes with the little dog. again, NOT PROFESSIONAL. After the past 12 days, areas of his face that she went at too intensely are STILL red and disfiguring. folks, we're not talking about a 'healing crisis' like in homeopathy. to boot, he was following her aftercare instructions as well as he could. (and no, ma'am, he didn't sit there 'picking' at his face during the hiatus you gave him to let the growth cycle do its work. I'd be only too happy to send along a few pix of how his face looks, but i don't think this person gives a hoot. I waited to write this until we got a second opinion yesterday at a clinic with many positive recent reviews and many electro-techs. the woman we met with confirmed my hunch that K wasn't receiving optimal care. when i called Shelley to cancel K's Monday appt,, i was as agreeable as i could be, until she doggedly persisted in trying to get me to reschedule him right there and then. she spoke of the downside of 'waiting too long' in between appts. OK, i had to speak my mind. 'what about how long he waits each and every appt for you to finish the double booking that you essentially do?' oh, she had all sorts of classic excuses. but she doesn't have the business acumen to have a cancellation policy or a late fee, or any system wherein the person who arrives late has to come back later that day, or wait in the hallway, or pay a fee. she hung up on me while i described how K waits. i didn't go into how really BAD his face looks since she began to overdo it. She actually managed to mention that K OWED HER 5 BUCKS. in our opinion, she owes K an apology and he doesn't owe here a cent. i asked her before she hung up on me for her mailing address so we could post her a fiver. She found it easier to just hang up on me. NOT PROFESSIONAL BEWARE FELLOWS: she's not the one for you. and to the general public: note again, that she hasn't been reviewed since sometime in 2011, all her reviewers are female, and allow me to save you the shock of your face looking ravaged and point you elsewhere. Seek an oft-reviewed clinic with several certified electrolysis techs who also are skin aestheticians, and wash their face with more than, as Shelley so proudly informed us at session #1, 'just water, with a little iris oil.' she proudly asserted that she she knew nothing about skin care products. i'm serious. she dispenses some genuine treatment aftercare products, but this gal is living in a world of her own. she's has a certain clientele demographic, and it DOES NOT INCLUDE MEN. nuff said. your replies are welcome. i'm actually going easy on her. read more

I've been seeing Shelley (owner of Hair N' Gone) every 4 - 6 weeks for just about a year and couldn't be happier with her services. Since I've moved cities several times recently, she's the 3rd person I've used for electrolysis and definitely the best. I had electrolysis here and was very disappointed. The healing process was long, painful, even following the care instructions I was provided and doing my due diligence to heal my skin it took months to return to a new normal. The charge was clearly too high and it caused damage to the collagen on my face. I warn anyone who goes here with delicate skin. I wish I could take it back. read more

Shelley changed my life. I have pcos and dealt with unwanted hair for years. Thanks to Shelley, I no longer have to deal with it everyday. Shelley is a sweet heart, she is wonderful at what she does. I was referred to her by a family member a few months ago, I was very hesitant at first and couldn't be happier. At my first appointment she spend a great deal of time educating me on this type of hair removal. I am quite sensitive myself to this procedure but Shelley has a way of chatting you through it, her dog Bella is a great comfort, she likes to sit with you while your being worked on. She is very welcoming. When you walk in you can walk in her sitting area, if she's with another client she will come out shortly to greet you. Shelley is professional, personable, and efficient. It was easy to schedule an appointment, the office is clean and easy to find. I'd never had electrolysis and she explained everything to make me feel more comfortable. I chose electrolysis over laser because instead of charging by areas, such as bikini, it's by the hour, so you can have whatever you want done during that hour.
