Since this salon was bought out and gained a new owner the quality of service has diminished greatly! Not only is the owner of this salon disrespectful but also has no idea how to run a professional establishment. From the minute, you walk in the door, are you here in Spanish music blasting in the background like if it was a salsa nightclub! All of the women working in the salon minus the owner speak no English so communication between client and stylist is nonexistent! As I sat with one of the hairdressers doing my hair, the owner had an older lady in her chair because the older lady asked questions. The owner bluntly told her that she wouldn't do her hair again and that if she wanted to come back to the salon she needed to book with someone else because she was just too much of a pain in the ass.! where do they do that at apparently at hair ego in Cutler Bay! I will never go back to this place and I suggest that if you are looking for the hair ego that existed before the new ownership you are definitely in for a surprise! read more

As always Norma excells at everything she does, however the owner needs to fix the air conditioner. It was so hot in there that I couldn't keep the cape on and I got color all over my shoulders. Under new management and it's been awesome. I found Marcela to be one phenomenal stylist. She's amazing at highlights and she kicks ass at hair cuts. Her blow outs are top notched. The owner, Martha, is so sweet and talented. Renovations are happening slowly and I know it will be amazing. The feeling I get after I spent 1/2 a day there is refreshed and feeling like a million dollars. I cannot wait to see how Martha transitions the place in her own way. I give this salon 2 stars only because of the lady that cut my hair otherwise it would be a 1 star. The receptionist needs some training in customer service and needs an attitude check. She's quite rude to the customers and not friendly at all. She just sits there at the desk, gossiping with another stylist about who got what, and who's taking too long. Three people had made appointments and after 20 - 40 min of waiting they were turned away for taking too long or the stylist just didn't show up. I asked for highlights with a few red low lights. I was convinced to put color on my scalp in between which I never do. This burned my scalp. I asked for a few red lowlights and got hot pink instead. I asked for a quick messy blow dry not one were I leave looking weird. The hairdresser didn't hear me at all and still made me look like beaver cleavers mom. Then to fix that she put a bunch of nasty product in my hair. The cut was decent but a bit shorter than I wanted it. That's ok that will grow. I thought the pink would grow on me so I didn't complain paid and left. I went home and I tried to fix the pink myself. It didn't come out bad but it was still too light red. ( I was once a licensed hairdresser myself) I called and asked for help to fix the red. Instead of telling me hey probably not a good idea to put MORE bleach on your head since the red is so fresh she did put more bleach which turned my hair pink and burned my hair! I now have more pink in my hair than I did before with an ugly chunk of dark red with pink and blond in front of my head. I just feel with them being the "professionals" they should of sent me home and said no we can't touch your hair today or just put the already red hair in a foil with the darker red instead of trying to bleach it out where it's now bright pink. My hair is sticky and fell out some. now I have to wait a month or two with my head covered in hats and scarves till I find someone to fix me I know they felt bad but I'm sorry they should of said no ma'am we can't touch that till the red washed out. I could have lived with what I had for a while now I have to spend weeks with my head covered. read more

DO NOT COME HERE This store usually had great customer service (the owners are very nice) they lead you to believe you're getting what you're paying for. WRONG. I moved in the area, took my son to get a hair cut there and they butchered it... at the same time I was getting my roots touched up and a blow dry... long story short they left me with black blotches all over my face and the blow dry was not dry and was left more than damp.. every where and the hair dresser said she couldn't do my hair anymore she Ana's tired and had to go home... they charged me over $100 for a root cover up and blow dry. All the prices on their service menu says $25 or over.. so basically they can charge you whatever they want. I swore I would never come back.. but today is Monday and I desperately needed a cut. Since everywhere else that gets enough business is closed I went to them. (I figured what's the harm in a tiny trim" Every hair dresser that was working had a client with conditioner sitting on their chair with a plastic bag over their head or highlights processing, easily they could have cut my hair and continued with their client... that's what every other well known salon that knows what they're doing DOES. The girl who was "working the front desk" clueless BTW, asked if they can cut my hair really quick this woman responded "NO, I CANT" and proceeded to talk to her client with conditioner in the cap processing. I'm very upset with the outcome of my hair this would be my 3rd time coming and honestly, I won't come here again. the first time I went in with a vibrant teal hair just needed a retouch of what I did with hair color, it came out perfect. the second time I come im assigned to a different hairstylist. she promised me a pastel teal and gave me the opposite. she bleached my hair way too long and damaged my scalp and didn't comply with what I asked. I paid $123 for bad service. I called to complain to get it rescheduled. I went back again with the first lady that did my hair and it just got so much worse. I paid $85 for my hair and it's not a vibrant teal anymore it's a swamp color mess. all I was asking for was for a retouch for my hair and just to pay $85 in total is $208 and it's a poorly job . if you are looking for somebody that knows how to play with colors do your research this place is not it. the first picture is the so call teal and the second one is the one I had them retouch the first time when I first went there I'm no hairstylist but I know how to color fantasy colors. They don't know how to really work with fantasy colors at all don't waste your money if your coming here for a fantasy hair they don't refund at all and the manger don't know how to complain with the customer as well telling me the reason why the second hairstylist quit that's none of my concerns very unprofessional and horrible service and horrible hair job NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN HORRIBLE SERVICE read more

I've been walking on air all week, mostly because I've been spending time with my niece who's in town, really though because I'm looking good! Becca is a master, she never fails. I on the other hand can be less than punctual from time to time and she is always booked and even under time she performs as per usual. From the subtle accents that help to finish the look to the way she rounds my neck. It's all perfection. I have never left the salon feeling less than awesome. And she's not the only one of course the salon is full of talent. I have been getting my hair done with Erika for many years and have always been thrilled to get home and look in the mirror to see what mastery took place. At times I need to wait, but they offer coffee. However, call it a coincidence, but every single time I go there, a hairdresser by the name of Donna is constantly talking politics. Hair Ego is an amazing place to go. The people there treat you like you are part of their family and greet you enthusiastically. They have affordable rates and frankly I'd pay even more just because of how well they treat me there. I had an emergency with my hair and my normal stylist was booked. So the owner personally took care of me to ensure that I'd be treated with the utmost care. I'd never have been treated like a queen like that before. I've been using this salon for over a year. I'm so satisfied I have a standing Mani-Pedi appointment every 2 weeks with Donnie and hair with Becka every 4 weeks. Becka has a real talent with color and cut. I like to change both every 6 to 9 months and trust her completely. Donnie is a true artist. She uses nails as her canvas. I went here for the second time and I specifically told this lady (older, Hispanic lady, tan) that I wanted an angled bob, to cut the back of my hair a bit shorter and showed her where, then said "I just want to trim my split ends" (no more than an inch) and she cut about 4 inches off. My hair is now shorter that my chin and it's not even an angled bob. Asked her to stop cutting and she cut 2 more inches off. She also made one side longer, said she did, I never asked for that. So she had to fix it and at the end it was 4 inches shorter than I wanted and it's not even an angled bob. It's just ridiculously short. It's also not even on the sides and I can't part my hair how I like it to. I showed her how I liked it parted and she didn't listen. I got a cut and color and it was 68. Do not go here and get it with this lady. Now I have to wait 4 months until it's at my shoulders. read more

But to be honest, the atmosphere was sterile, I think I need Neosporin because the back of my neck feels cut up, and my hairdresser did not initiate conversation at all. So I went for New Year's Eve for a blow out and the lady brushed my hair super rough with a huge bulky gross looking paddle brush which is obviously not for wet hair I'm used to salons and blow dry bars using the wet brush .... and a good quality leave in conditioner then she takes an hour just for a wash and blow dry not even with styling and she made my hair extremely flat and did not know how to part my hair in the middle .... I didn't even want to curl my hair with her because of the horrendous blow dry... then she proceeds to try to put hair serum which is considered HAIR OIL on the top of hair ... you don't put serum on roots it becomes greasy!!!! I had to wash my hair the day after because it was greasy ass hell . My boyfriend called and scheduled a haircut apt for about 7 in the evening (they close @ 8) to cut the ends of his long hair. When he arrives for his service, the Stylist, Lauren was wetting his hair with a spray bottle to begin his hair cut. He asks her if, in her professional opinion the haircut will be better after a shampooing service. She replied with "I don't think it makes a difference". ***just a side note*** My boyfriend and I have been to plethora hair salons and NEVER have we gotten any service (besides color) without a shampoo. That is the first step of any haircut. Furthermore, My boyfriend explains to her that he wants to add some volume and wishes to do layers. Her response was that she was in a rush and that she was not expecting to do layers. So she continues with the half a** cut that literally took 15 minutes. Then as me and my boyfriend are outside the salon, discussing the rude and rushed treatment given. Guess who is hurrying out the front door? The Stylist Lauren. She rushed my boyfriends haircut, denied shampoo service, and had the audacity to tell him she was in a rush and couldn't do layers. I was furious, I open the salon door in hopes to speaking with the front desk about this disappointing service, mind you at this time it's probably 7:30-7:45 and the door was locked and the front desk woman looks at me and shakes her hand no at me, hinting that they were closed for the day. I grab my cellphone and call the salon, how funny the front desk woman that answered.. I thought you were closed? (mind you I'm still in front of the door). I begin to explain everything to her and she couldn't care less. Her response was "I wasn't the one who cut his hair". Not a care in the world for the horrible customer service we had experienced. The moral of the story, this is not a salon. A salon provides an upmost experience to make sure the clients leave happy, this place just wants your money. They don't care about the clients. I will never return to this salon which is a bummer since it is so close from home and convenient. Very very disappointed. read more
