Maritza gave me my smile back!…read more
My mother and I are incredibly happy that we found Maritza, the owner of Dominican Hairstyle. After nearly 25 years of searching for a hairstylist I could trust and continue seeing long-term, I finally feel like I found the right person.
When I arrived, my hair was severely damaged from a previous service. I had lost almost half of my hair and had been hiding it under bandannas because I was embarrassed and depressed. I originally told Maritza that I wanted to go blonder, but she carefully examined and felt my hair before recommending anything. She was completely honest and told me, "No, we need to let your hair rest. For now, we are only going to do a treatment."
That answer showed me exactly what kind of hairstylist she is. She could have agreed to more color, charged me for additional services, and given me what I asked for--even if it caused more damage. Instead, she gave me the professional advice that was best for the health and recovery of my hair. She put my hair before making extra money.
So far, she has only performed a treatment, but when I tell you this woman gave me my smile back, I truly mean it. I left feeling hopeful, confident, and beautiful again--and she hasn't even applied my color yet! She gave me a realistic plan to help my hair recover safely instead of making false promises or rushing the process.
My mother's transformation was also incredible. She arrived with approximately three different shades in her hair. Maritza did not simply apply one color over everything, because that would have allowed the uneven tones to continue showing through. She carefully corrected and balanced the existing colors first, creating an even foundation. Then she applied the final color so that it would look smooth, consistent, and beautiful from the roots to the ends. The before-and-after pictures speak for themselves--my mother's hair now looks even, healthy, polished, and completely transformed.
Ladies, please do not assume that the most luxurious salon or the most expensive location automatically has the most talented or caring professionals. My mother and I have visited many beautiful, high-end salons, believing that the location meant we were in the best hands. Unfortunately, that is not always how it works.
Maritza may not be located in the fanciest area, but her honesty, knowledge, patience, and genuine concern for the health of our hair are worth more than any luxurious address. A real hairstylist does not simply agree with everything a client requests. A real professional carefully evaluates your hair, explains what it can safely handle, and is willing to say no when a service would not be in your best interest.
As a business owner myself, I understand that mistakes can happen. What matters is how they are prevented, addressed, and corrected. When we sit in a stylist's chair, we are trusting that person with our hair, our confidence, and sometimes years of growth. Maritza understands that responsibility.
If your hair is damaged, uneven, fragile, or you simply need someone who will be honest with you, give Maritza a chance. She will take her time, evaluate your hair properly, and help you find the safest and most beautiful solution. It does not matter how far I have to drive--this woman is a keeper, and she has gained two long-term clients in my mother and me.
Thank you, Maritza, for taking care of us, for being honest, and for giving me my smile back.
