Daniel's demeaner was completely short and unwelcoming the entire time. I arrived for my consultation at 6pm to the building doors being locked, and Daniel acted as if it was my fault/I was severely inconveniencing him for coming down to open them for me. I would've happily came earlier if I knew/was notified of that. When I entered the salon, it was just messy and looked gross to be in. The decor is weird and there was a door that said "Tattoo" right in the sitting area? Daniel rushed around without bothering to acknowledge my presense. His assistant/other guy in the salon was so nice and outgoing, but otherwise it was a total cold shoulder and I felt burdensome to him to be there. I will give Daniel credit that he is knowledgable in his craft and he gave feedback based on what I was discussing with him. However, the lack of "salon side manner" will not have me coming again, and I cancelled my appointment.

I only ever do simple cuts, nothing fancy. My haircut, done by Anderson (a level 3 stylist), is objectively good. The skill was there. But it's definitely shorter than I wanted it. Went in for a lob, came out with an asymmetrical bob...Honestly I was panicking while he was drying it because it was starting to look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. I asked if he could style it like in the reference pictures I showed (simple waves, to reduce Farquaad-ness). He tried to do it with the brush/dryer, which obviously wasn't working, and didn't want to use a flatiron. So I just suffered through scalding heat on my scalp and hair pulling. I got told I don't have curly hair. I got told I don't have frizzy hair. I, in fact, have both of those. Some other minor things: 1. When I got home I had some hair that was noticeably longer than the rest, like it never got cut. So...I had to do it. Just a few strands, but normally stylists check for that when your hair is dry. 2. I almost never use heat on my hair, so I asked for recs and mentioned a specific brand doesn't work for me. He immediately said he loves that brand. I said yeah...but it doesn't work for me. Anything else? "Any salon brand." Cool. Not helpful. 3. Asked for something at the end to tame the pieces that were sticking out (again, I have frizzy hair). He looked...confused? Smoothing as a last step has been standard at every other place I've been to. There is nothing in the whole salon like that? Also, my introvert-self just wants to go somewhere where I don't have to be engaged in conversation the whole time. Anyway. Won't go back, my hunt continues.

I wanted a warmer balayage for the summer and Ashley worked with me to find a color that would suit my skin tone and give me the desired look I was going for. Ashley's also Tanya's apprentice and I was super impressed with her meticulousness and attention to detail. I have super course dark hair that doesn't lift easily and the whole process took 8 hours but the salon felt comfortable enough that it didn't seem like it was that long. There's Wi-Fi if you need to do some work, and snacks, drinks, coffee etc. it's also super conveniently located by other shops if you need to grab some food. Couldn't be happier with the result!

My final receipt listed $110 for roots and $70 for toner, but Roger later gave me a different breakdown. My concerns about the color being too dark were dismissed, and unsolicited comments about my weight were inappropriate. I recommend confirming every service and price in writing beforehand.
