Made a mistake again to trust hair cuttery and waste my money and time. They make you select the hair color, but end result is something else. God knows what layer cut the girl did. Which does not look like layers at all. I choose pewter hair color and now my hair are brown. After the hair color hair wash and all my scalp was so horribly itching their was all colors on my nail. Even after the wash their were color stains on my forehead, my neck, even my sweat shirt has all color on it So basically their was zero professionalism, and all the girls just did something on in name of hair salon. Please bring some better stylist to stay in business. I might not cut my hair or color if hair cuttery is the only option here after I have. They worst hair salon. read more

Walk-In: I haven't been to this location for over a year so when I was told my cut would cost $30 I was rather stunned. Stylist said "oh, we can give you a shampoo and cut", I said I'd rather just have a dry cut. She thoroughly wet it down & proceeded. I asked for a blow dry and was told "no we don't do that". The stylist I always work with, Val, is polite and willing to chat but never intrusive. She clearly knows what she's doing! It's a very calm environment and never super busy; I have never felt like I was rushed through any of my haircuts. The staff are very helpful and friendly and I like how casual and laid-back the atmosphere is -- it's the opposite of a stressful experience. The ratio of price to quality (at least for the basic $30 I always get) is spectacular and this is a pleasant, no-fuss way to accomplish the goal of maintaining my pixie cut. read more

Asked for a warm chocolate brown came out with a red orange! Got it done on Sunday and called Tuesday saying I wasn't happy, they said call Thursday when Harley is in. Spoke with Harley and she said no problem come in we can add toner no charge! I get there and Harley say's because I said I liked it when I left Sunday (people pleaser I know I'm working on it) I would be charged. Now mind you I spent over $350 with this mess including buying products I said no I'm not paying anything and I want to speak with the manager who says I have to pay but because she is off she doesn't want to talk but happy to charge me again. The lady gave me an uneven haircut, highlights instead of a balayage, and insulted my hair. I saw the stylists face as she was doing the color, and it looked like she knew she made mistakes. I didn't notice the uneven portions of the haircut until I came home sadly. I walked in at 5:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, and was greeted immediately. The receptionist was very pleasant and got me checked in quickly, and let me know that Marquita would be taking care of me. Marquita was amazing. I only ever have a vague idea of what to do with my hair, and Marquita worked with me to develop an idea. She was great about explaining why she wanted to do something--like tapering the sides and back rather than just lopping it all off (my initial idea!). She also noticed and talked to me about the products I had been perusing and offered to use them so I could see how they worked with my hair. She wasn't pushy about the upsell on product and again explained what each product was for. I ended up buying one of the products she used and recommended. She was friendly and personable and very easy to work with. A lot of times I have an initial reaction of "Oh my GOD what did they DO???!?!" and hate my hair for the next two days. I didn't even get a hint of that with Marquita, and I'll go back to her from now on. read more

It's been a few months since my last cut and the 2 stylists that I've seen at this location unfortunately don't work here anymore. I came in this busy afternoon and was told the wait was about 15 minutes. It felt like 5 minutes, maybe. I saw Juliana today and she was spectacular. She was super friendly, and gave me the exact cut that I wanted with just a few of her own professional suggestions for my hair type. It was absolutely appreciated and I love the cut she gave me. She's talented and sweet, and I appreciate how she communicated everything she was doing with me. Needless to say, I took a business card. I will be coming back to see her again. The Hair Cuttery on New Design in Frederick needs some CORPORATE help! The place is dirty, and has lights out, and broken chairs etc. The place is not taken care of at all. I go every week, because I love my stylist (Canda) and Harley are good- but the place is not pleasant to be in. The vents are filthy, and every time I get my hair washed- I have to look at that. Some of the chairs are broken, and lights are always out and don't even have the same bulbs- some bright light some yellow. It is appalling that the corporate people don't listen to customers. I sent feedback a few months ago, and yet things have not been addressed. Robyn or Adrianna- where are you? Don't you ever visit your stores? I bet you are there to get your paycheck every week- please do your jobs. If I sound annoyed, it is because I am.... Your customers should matter- but don't. With your prices that keep rising- you have the money to fix things- but don't. Maybe someone over you needs to read the feedback. read more

I was in dire need of a haircut yesterday and none of my usual stylists were at work. I decided to take a shot in the dark and came in to this Hair Cuttery location. When I checked in, I specifically requested someone who was comfortable with edgy, disconnected cuts as I wanted to clean up my undercut and and add some disconnected, textured layers. The stylist I got was very nice, but quite obviously not on the cutting edge of trends. I ended up with some awkward bob-like haircut that I ended up going home and fixing myself. Haircut gets 2 out of 5 stars. Seriously, I'm a guy. My hair can't be that hard to cut. Their time estimation gets 1 star. I was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. 60 minutes later, they took me. I would have walked out, if I had known it was going to be an hour. Don't accept walk-ins if you're not willing to provide better time estimates. read more

I have been going to Rene for years. She is wonderful. I stopped going to her for a year because I wanted something closer to home. With all the new shops and housing off 26 it's a nightmare to get it and out of. And boy did I have bad hair for a year because of it. It was a high end salon too. I'll never do that again. I came into this salon on a whim. I really just needed to get layers done. I have very thick, curly hair, and I have had less than stellar experiences elsewhere. I got Gina, and she was absolutely wonderful. She gave me gorgeous layers that really framed my face very well. Took my 8 year-old daughter in (as a walk-in) and she got Destiny. Stay away at all means!!!!! She charged us full price (as an adult no less) but gave her the "non-haircut." She just twirled around her hair a lot and combed it all over to one side and kept telling her she was beautiful and she should want to do her hair as a grown up. I saw Blonde Crystal during a walk-in New Year's Eve. I put my name on the list and the time they told me to come back was within an hour of them closing. I felt bad for coming so late! You could tell most of the girls didn't want to be at work anymore, which I definitely understood. However, she was very nice and easy to talk to!
