It had gotten to the point where it was just a burden and I was wearing it up every single day. I absolutely hated my hair, I felt as if I always looked 'unkempt' and I often ended up in tears when trying to style and tame my hair. When I saw Scott, he reassured me that my hair would look entirely different by the end of the appointment and I have to say, I didn't believe him. But after a two hour session, my hair was BEAUTIFUL! My hair didn't even look like my hair anymore. It was so soft, the curls were so defined and there was little to no frizz. I'm telling you, Scott is a miracle worker. I had a few questions about products after my appointment so I texted him and he was more than willing to answer my questions. Scott's passion for helping women embrace their curly hair and teaching them how to care for/style it shows in every aspect of his business. The personalized method he taught me has given 'new life' to my hair and given me a confidence I've never had before. What's even better - I've made a new friend! Looking forward to watching Scott's journey as he changes curly headed lives across the world!

I've been a Deva Curl lady for longer than some of the products have existed, and I spent years going to Deva Stylists while living in NYC. Will is truly at the top of the pack. He sat with me and discussed my goals (that I wasn't able to clearly define myself), and we didn't just talk about it for a few minutes, look at a picture and then jump right into the chair. Oh no. Will is so thorough and an artist. I've found my Hair Home at The Curl Lounge and oh it feels so good to look this fly in this head of curls! Thank you Will!

Calling all curly girls!!!…read more I've been coming to Will for 2 years now and couldn't be happier. I have naturally curly hair and hands down he is THE BEST. He takes his work seriously and takes his time with you - this is not a run of the mill salon! A couple things you need to know: 1) The appointments range from 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hrs depending on how long/thick your hair is. This time includes consultation, wash, cut, dry/style. Each consultation is unique as every curly girl is unique. He uses on deva curl products - which you really should be using if you're a curly girl, but he doesn't force it on you...he's never pushy with his products. I always buy something though because his prices are the best in town and he always has the latest/greatest additions. 2) He cuts your hair dry - one curl at a time, hence the time alotment above. This is the Deva Curl way - he was trained by the best, Lorraine Massey herself! 3) You will only need to get your hair cut every 4-6 months. I was one of those people that ued to go every 8-10 weeks whether I needed it or not. With Will, he shapes it so nicely that the shape grows with your hair so you won't have those unruly hair days for at least 4-5 months. 4) He's expensive - it'll run you $130 and up for a hair cut, BUT you're only going 2-3 times a year and it's worth EVERY penny. 5) It's a little tricky to find. It's on St. Mary's behind Bliss Salon. It's a backdoor entrance. I simply cannot recommend The Curl Lounge enough!! Will is amazing. If you're a curly girl, stop looking and come here!

Having had a bad history with first time haircuts all over the triangle, I went into Parvati's Mirror nervous. The atmosphere of the establishment immediaty started to calm me, being historic and quiant, as well as homey, next door is an excellent coffee shop and Lily's pizzieria that you can visit before your appointment. Stephen was my stylist, and what an outstanding one at that! He went leaps and bounds beyond what any stylist has ever tried to do for me, including taking before and after pictures. His background in hair studies is evident in his detailed explainations of his experience in industry, which helped make me feel absolutely comfortable in his hair! He is very detail oriented and focused on creating a masterpiece, he even kept correcting the way my feet would cross under his chair (this will causing the cut to be uneven). He listened to me describe the way I wanted my hair to be, and with much surprise delivered to the full extent. Not only do I love the way it looks, but I'm obessed with running my fingers through it, he got rid of my tangles!! He used tools on my hair that I have never seen used on a woman before, and was shocked at what a huge difference it made. I love love love my new look, and even my boyfriend (who is usually oblivious to a new haircut) could tell what a difference was made. I cannot thank you enough Stephen for all your fantastic advice, kind spirit, and stand up comedian performance. My appointment should have only been 45 minutes, and Stephen kept me for 1 hr and 20 minutes. A fine job done at a wonderful establishment. Will be back for more cuts and laughs :)

The last time I went to this salon, my experience was disappointing. $40 for a haircut and $15 for a trim. What is the difference? Not to mention, the stylist (Tiara) does not seem knowledgeable on natural type 4 hair and did a less than average job giving me full highlights. I paid almost $300 for full highlights, and after she was done you couldn't even see them. Not to mention, she kept recommending me products that were not economical by any means and in general couldn't give me solid hair advice. If you wanna go to this salon, don't book her.

You can tell that he has been doing it for a long time and takes pride in his work. I've had my hair cut by him three times and I've been very happy with the results every time. The atmosphere at Tesoro is really laid back and comfortable. When you arrive you are greeted by Maurizio or one of the other stylists and usually offered a water or a cup of coffee. It's a nice touch and I think it speaks to the level of service that they provide. You can make an appointment but they also take walk ins. If you walk in though, you may have to wait a while. So, I would recommend making an appointment, especially if you're going on the weekend. As a guy, you really can't beat the value. For the price point $20 you get a professional haircut and wash. You are going to pay close to that at any one of the corporate hair cutting places where they tend to do a poor job and rush you in and out. Go to Tesoro for your next haircut, you won't be disappointed!
