Hacienda de Leon is a relatively new Mexican restaurant in Marble Falls, and it has quickly become our favorite Mexican food place in town. The layout is a little unusual. When you first walk in, there's a small front area followed by a long, narrow dining area that leads to a much larger room in the back. Do yourself a favor and ask to sit in the back room. That's where all the energy is, with a big bar, TVs and a much livelier atmosphere. I have a little test I do at Mexican restaurants: I always ask if they have a hotter salsa. Hacienda de Leon passes with flying colors. I've been brought a couple of different versions, and they actually have some heat and great flavor. We often split the fajitas, and they're fantastic. The portions are generous, and I also appreciate that they don't nickel-and-dime you for things like sour cream and cheese the way some Mexican restaurants do. I've also tried the enchiladas and tacos and have yet to find anything I didn't like. The drinks deserve a mention too. They have a signature margarita that comes with a two-drink limit. I can personally testify that the limit is there for a reason! The Mexican martini is also very good. One time I asked the bartender to skip the mixes and just make me a simple margarita with tequila, lime and agave. He nailed it--it was fantastic. Great food, generous portions, good salsa and a fun bar. At this point, Hacienda de Leon is definitely our go-to Mexican restaurant in Marble Falls. read more

What a difference this time, compared to our first visit, which was great. I ordered chicken enchiladas verde. My wife ordered carne guisada tacos. We also had guacamole. The guacamole was prepared with cilantro--unlike the last visit--so we couldn't eat it. The red salsa was different too, and we didn't care for it. Too busy. Their roasted salsa is outstanding. The tomatillo sauce was too sour, but edible. The chicken was great, but the enchiladas were pretty small. I ordered a side of refried beans. They were delicious, but the portion size was very small. The carne guisada meat was nice and tender, but very dry and there was hardly any gravy, which is what makes this dish so special. The flour tortillas were perfect. She ate at one taco and passed on the other one. Huge disappointment. One thing we noticed during our first visit were the tiny salt and pepper shakers. The pepper shaker was filled with extra coarse ground black pepper that would not flow through the perforations in the shaker cap. We noticed other diners removing the caps to get pepper. We pointed this out to our server. Well, they haven't fixed this odd problem. We will continue to eat here though and try some other menu items. Bummed about the guacamole and red salsa. read more

I'd give 4.5 stars if I was able to. Arrived at 6:15 on a Wednesday. Was seated immediately but they were busy. Great ambiance, food was delicious and the service was great. Multiple people came by and brought water or chips. The Mustang Margarita was super tasty. Only reason for not giving 5 stars was bar drinks took a looonnngggg time. However, they were packed and apparently only had one bartender. We sat right next to bar, so this was known. If they stay this busy on weeknights, they definitely should have 2nd bartender. Looking forward to coming back and eating at the bar for happy hour in the near future. read more

We came around 7 p.m. on a Thursday after work for dinner, and it was pretty busy. The service was still good despite the crowd. The restaurant has an upscale Mexican restaurant vibe. We ordered the combination plate (two chicken enchiladas and a crispy ground beef taco), the aguachiles, and the queso flameado. I personally tried the combination plate and the appetizers, and I really enjoyed both. The crispy taco wasn't your typical Taco Bell-style crispy taco--it was actually really flavorful and delicious. The queso flameado comes with three flour tortillas, which I appreciated since I usually fill up on chips before my meal arrives. My boyfriend rated his meal a 4 out of 5, saying a 5 out of 5 would mean he'd definitely order it again. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be coming back! Another plus for families with kids: there's a changing table in the women's bathroom, didn't check men's haha. read more

I ordered a burrito with grilled shrimp, chicken and beef the proteins were delicious! The tortilla was disgusting, it tasted like a sour dish towel and had the consistency of glue once I began chewing. I only ate the inside and left the tortilla. We told the waitress and she didn't seem to care, she stated she would "let them know". Just gross. read more

Wanted to check this place since it's new. Didn't go in with high expectations since they had only been open for a couple weeks. Right from the start even tho they weren't rude to us the hostesses were very snippy and rude to the people in front of us. Food was decent and drinks were good however the service was not the best. Our waitress checked in on us a couple of times and then forgot about us. When she finally brought us our check she didn't even speak to us and just walked away and we waited about 20 more minutes just for her to pick up the card. I hope there's improvement in the service side of things because other than that it's a decent place to grab a bite to eat. read more

I've been there twice. The first time I got the birria quesadillas, cheese dip and asked for something spicier than the table salsa, (which is great). Now Im addicted to their taqueria salsas. Today we tried combo fajitas and of course I had to have à la mexicana. The meat and the veggies were delicious! Oh my goodness! The only thing I don't recommend is the cheese dip.
