Nigiri rolls overfilled with rice (because they are skimping on actual sushi fish), and then if you don't eat all the rice, they will charge you $2 per tiny amount of rice (see photo). Combine this with the fact that the greeter announces when you walk in that the AYCE is $30 when it's actually $30.99, and it really felt like they were trying to get every single dollar from their customers. We came to try the new conveyor belt experience, which was disappointing and far from what you'd get from a place like Kura in Schaumburg. Food (mostly dessert actually, which was not good and clearly not made in-house) came out slowly and sparsely, which meant that you would still order most of your food from a waiter like at any other restaurant. More importantly, there were no labels which was very difficult for people with allergies. Oddly, they put fried food like potstickers in the conveyor belt, so then it's cold and soft by the time you grab it. I do hope these are just growing pains since this setup is new to them, but for now i'd find it hard to return, especially when Super Bowl is right down the street and a better bang for your buck. read more

Absolutely awful experience. I ordered chicken fried rice and was served a dish that was soaked in grease and tasted disgusting, totally inedible. When I called to speak with a manager, I was shocked to be told my only option was a credit for the same exact item. Why would I want to re-order something that was clearly poorly made? I then asked to speak with the owner, who was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, he belittled me and continued to talk over me. I've honestly never experienced such disrespectful customer service from any restaurant. Save yourself the disappointment. I will never eat from here again. Here is my short, sweet, and honest review of Hatchi Sushi in Loves Park. My visit for lunch on MLK day was a mixed bag of ok to down right bad. The good. Food tasted decent. My California roll was pretty good. The bad. My hibachi steak and chicken was Luke warm yet somehow the steak was overcooked. I had to wait 20 minuets past my underwhelming dinner to get my sushi appetizer. Now the ridiculous. I wanted to order the 3 roll sushi lunch special and was told I couldn't not because it was a holiday... Far be it from me to diminish Dr King's day but I just do not see how it should make my lunch special more expensive. I absolutely despise when businesses gouge the customer whenever they can. For this alone, I will not be coming back. The best part is before I left, I jumped online to see that I could in fact order the lunch special on their site. HOMOPHOBIC RESTAURANT. DO NOT GO. I will put up with a lot of BS from restaurants because it's a hard job and people can be awful. However, this is a new low and worth bringing up. We went here for dinner with our friends--we asked the waitress how all you can eat works and she explained. We very clearly said we aren't doing all you can eat and proceeded to POINT and READ off the menu. We each ordered a hibachi and 1 roll. We were surprised by how small the portions were, but hey shrink-flation hits everyone. When the checks came, we were even more surprised by the total and saw we were each charged for the all you can eat despite not ordering off that menu or using the conveyer. So we were charged more for half the amount of food. We very politely asked the waitress about it as accidents happen, people move fast. After pushing back on us, she spoke to her manager and then sent another waitress and then said it's our fault and they can only offer 10%. We called the manager over and explained what happened. He accused us of "doing the math" to try and scam a better price and said it's our fault for not being clear about what we ordered. We are used to Chicago prices and can more than afford the crap food and the building it's made in. Again, we got half the food portion for essentially double the price. My wife and her friends have come here since high school and the managers treatment and approach was awful. We were coming back from pride, so perhaps the group of clearly queer folks set off some prejudice for them. Either way, will NEVER be back and am extremely disappointed. Stopped in to Hachi Sushi for a bite Sunday afternoon for a quick roll or two and was pleasantly surprised! The decor was updated, the staff was attentive and polite. We noticed the menu was updated, so instead of just ordering rolls, we decided to try the one bowls. Mind blown! Wife had the Tuna poke green sauce bowl, I had the Salmon red bowl. Open during quarantine but would not recommend ordering as their whole take out process was a disaster!!! I ordered 2 chicken + steak hibachi dinner through DoorDash and they only delivered one dinner. Called the doordash delivery guy 3x with no answer so proceeded to call Hachi Hachi more than 5x and their phone is not working! When you call it says the "call cannot be completed because the phone is busy". I ended up having to drive there myself (which the whole point of delivery is not having to do that)...their entryway to their place is completely blocked off with one little window. There was no one by the door to help you and I had to knock on the plexus glass to even get someone's attention. The guy that worked there offered to make my other order but would have to wait 5 mins and he'd throw in some fried spring rolls.. all while another customer was already waiting there for 10-15 mins he was about to hand that gentleman his order when he realized that it was my order (the 2 hibachi dinners) that was sitting there that he almost handed the other customer. So not sure how they had 2 bags with my name on the order (1 bag with only 1 dinner and the other bag with 2?) and it was sitting there cold. So in short - if you order delivery, expect to come pick up your other half of your order anyways and if you choose pick up, expect to wait 10-15 mins and make sure to check your order before leaving because they might just hand you the wrong order. read more

My husband and I ordered the combination steak & shrimp hibachi, steak fried rice, Japanese fried spring rolls and a scorpion sushi roll. My steak fried rice had steak and corn? I would have like to see more vegetables in it...the steak was cooked very well though. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and steak, both cooked well. The sushi roll was good. The Japanese fried spring rolls were good but did not have any meat, only veggies. Overall the food is okay. The place is nice and clean and I'd come back for a quick sushi fix. read more

I LOVE this place! The portions are always massive, exploding with flavor! The wait time is usually under 15 minutes, staff is always super nice !! The crab roll app is SO good! Their Miso soup is delicious, and the hibachi chicken.. is so good! The sauces are so flavor packed. I love them. I love their lunch specials because it's cheap, tons of food and great location. I've frequented this Establishment on multiple occasions and I like the place for what it is, fast food sushi. You are not going to find top of the line gourmet sushi, what you are going to find is something relatively cheap and quick yet still tastes okay. I have my favorites here, The volcano roll, Spicy Tuna, Firecracker and Rockford Sunset rolls. They have others that are good too. I've never had any issue with the quality of the food. I usually enjoy what I get. Have I had better, yes... but it wasn't this far inland and it wasn't at a restaurant in a strip mall. This one and their partner store off of State St. are ones I hit up for lunch at least once a month. read more

Quite similar to the Hachi Hachi on Sundae Dr. (in both decor and food quality), today we got 3 sushi rolls: spider, shrimp tempura, and California, as well as steak fried rice. All three rolls were decent and weren't fishy at all. The fried rice has a different flavor, but it is delicious. To be completely honest, I realized that they cook rice and meat; when you order hibachi, they separate the two and fried rice, they combine the two. Updated 9/12/18 While I'm still a fan, I haven't cared for the flavor the past few visits. The sauce used on the main dish was almost a gel like consistency, and was kind of gross. It was on the same Hibachi type I've ordered for years. The rest of the review holds true: A tasty quick Japanese option! Moderately priced Pros: I'm a big fan of their hibachi dinners. I'm not much for sushi but my friends always seem to enjoy it. They have some alcohol options (at time of review) and are reasonably quick. Their rice is very flavorful and never seems dried out. Good sauces to go with the meats. I think it is a notch above Happy Wok style options Cons: I've never felt quite comfortable with their delivery service. While I feel some of the "ratings" given solely on delivery service are excessively harsh, I tend to agree that the delivery time is wildly unpredictable, I feel a little uncomfortable using their online payment system. My recommendation is you're better off going in to order. Do the online thing at your own risk read more

I cannot believe I have not reviewed this place yet! I absolutely love Hachi Hachi. My family frequents both locations. I have never had bad service, nor have I ever ordered something I didn't thoroughly enjoy. They have a huge selection and you are able to sit down and eat there in half the time that it would take at the more expensive restaurants similar to it in Rockford. A coworker of mine and I regularly visit their riverside location for Lunch. We both usually order their pick 3 sushi rolls lunch special that includes soup or a salad. It is very reasonable and the special allows for about 15 different types of rollls that's can be combined. Also my family really enjoys their hibachi dishes. We regularly use their convenient online ordering to pick up dinner. They're always so accommodating and allow us to personalize each order to appease each and everyone. I'm sure there are better places to eat but we just prefer Hachi Hachi. I of course recommend either location and am looking forward to my next visit. read more
