This strip mall China House Buffet has plenty of strip mall parking and has a large dining room. Right when we entered, the staff was attentive and very friendly. The restaurant is very clean. It's bright, has the smell of fresh food. As I have an MSG allergy, I asked China House staff if they cook with MSG and if the buffet had MSG and they were very honest right away about it and said that yes, most of the food has MSG at the buffet. So what they recommended was that I order off the menu and they recommended certain items that would definitely not have msg. I did go by the buffet, and it was very clean, full of interesting options, and fresh and maintained. Because of my allergy, I adored the after the menu and I got General Tso's chicken. The order came quickly, and the plate look lovely with a very large mound of chicken in the middle and fresh green broccoli all around the sides. A side order of rice was large. The Taste was fresh, hot, and tasty, although not the world's best. The restaurant was busy with plenty of families, it was never loud. Staff was attentive to every table. Not true Chinese food. Very bland, lacks balance, overpriced for what you're getting, bad customer service from all of them that works there. I've never been in a dirty Chinese restaurant until I went here. Floors were muddy, water everywhere, all the workers standing around the cash register or sitting down instead of cleaning up the water and mud, their buffet is a complete waste of money and time. I sure wouldn't want to be eating there as the weather becomes warm. The flies will definitely be on attack. I ordered Beef Chop Suey and some Sushi, Cali Roll and Dragon Roll. Everything was absolutely delicious! Fresh tasting, hot, Sushi also very fresh and tasty! Service was great! We come all the way out from Rockford just to come to the China House in beloit. We've never had a bad experience up until recently, I was so disappointed. I'm not a fan of a mouthful of chicken and suddenly feeling hair. I understand if it was my own hair that dropped onto my plate but this long strand of brown hair was intertwined in the chicken's grilled skin so I know it couldn't have fallen from my head. It was cooked in there. All I am asking is you wear hair nets when cooking your food. I am so disappointed because I don't think I can ever go here again without constantly feeling for hair while chewing. I ordered delivery. It arrived early and it was obvious why. The meal was warm dry and the chicken was drie to the point that they had to smother it in sauce. Beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, chicken lo mein and boneless spare ribs are my family's favorite and they taste delicious every single time. The food is juicy, flavorful and fresh. The portions are very gracious, even with their $6 lunches. Customer service varies but has never been bad, some are just extra friendly and a few just want your order and that's it, which is fair. We got: eggrolls...large and crunchy, but not visible meat inside, crab rangoon...not the best I've had, but good and my kids loved them, fried wontons...my picky eater LOVED them and ate almost the entire order himself, general Tso's chicken...my husband said it was good, chicken with cashews...mine and very good! Lots of fresh, crunchy carrots and celery that were good. I was most impressed by the chicken. It was definitely real chicken and not rubbery or weird. The egg rolls were full of cabbage and very little if any meat. Would have expected to see a little pork or chicken. Egg Drop soup had body but flavor was very bland. This was the second trip -- first was about 8 months ago. Appeared to have new sign and was hoping under new management. Both visits were below par.
