not sure if this is the standard here in rockford but fried rice should not just be rice and soy sauce mixed in it that being said food was right around par for what i expected it to be nothing all that good and slightly overpriced the only reason why i didn't give it two stars is because the chef special chicken teriyaki (friend ordered it) was good general tso was ok we ordered take out so no thoughts on service or ambiance but considering how this particular event went i wouldn't say i'd dine in anytime soon if that was even an option read more

I ordered the chicken mei fun with extra chicken. I didn't have high hopes simply because the name was china 'express'. I was envisioning something more like happy wok or maybe Panda Express. This didn't taste like something from a 'fast food' experience. Absolutely delicious. 2 days later, I finished it off, and it was just as delicious as day one. Cashier is way too rude and bossy. Doesn't wear a mask, during this current health crisis. Dining room always smells and looks like it has never been cleaned. Phone ringing off the hook constantly. This was our first try with China Express and we were pleasantly surprised! Our kind-of-new neighbors are the owners and we wanted to support a local business. Sweet and sour chicken and cashew chicken with rice was ready when we got there, warm to eat when we got home and the food was very good. We'll definitely be back! read more

Work for doordash and they were supposed to have the food ready 30 mins ago. The cashier was rude. And the place smelled like a basement

Went here years ago and had a bad experience, should have trusted my gut instead of the reviews. Ordered the lunch special, pick 2 half entrees, I picked chicken mushroom and broccoli beef. The lunch special also came with ham fried rice or so the sign said, egg roll and a can of pop. The rice was just plain fried rice, no ham, egg or veggies and very bland. The mushrooms in the chicken mushroom were okay but the sauce had a strange taste and the chicken a strange texture. I went to try the broccoli beef and picked what I thought was a piece of beef but was a gelatinous glob of some kind and that was it, the rest went in the garbage. I did try the egg roll before I found the unappetizing glob and took one bite and spit it out. Very rancid flavor and the meat was unidentifiable. Will never eat here again even if someone paid me to. read more

I very much like beef chop suey and I would always order that when my late wife and I ate at Chen's. I picked up a carry our order of beef chop suey the other day at China Express and was very pleasantly surprised. It was very similar to what I remembered from Chen's years ago. I have a couple of others to try yet but so far China Express is on my list of Chinese restaurants to go to. read more

Worst Pad Thai I have ever had....nearly $10 and nothing was in it. It wasn't even rice noodles. It was advertised as combination and had virtually nothing but flavored noodles, 3 shrimp and a green onion bottom. And get this - whole not crushed peanuts. No lime. No bean sprouts. NOT PAD THAI. Talked to the owner twice about it and he had a bad attitude. I tried to give him a chance to make it right and told him that I didn't want to leave a bad review, but he just hung up on me. So here it is. Mediocre, overpriced food and rotten customer service. Won't be back. For fast food Asian, try Happy Wok at Alpine and East State for much better food and attitude. read more

Beef pad thai had good flavor but I would try something else next time as Roc'Phod's is muchbetter! Guy at front desk was very nice though.

Used to love this place and last time I ordered from there 2 months ago if was fine. Today we got what we suspect was leftover food warmed back up. Pork was dried out and rice was too so we had to throw most of it out. Don't know what happened here but for now I'll chalk it up to survival mode because of Covid but if that's the case I doubt if they are helping themselves. Horrible service! We ordered delivery tonight because I'm feeling under the weather. What we recieved was not even close to what we ordered. Ok, mistakes happen but I called them to let them know they sent us someone else's order and the guy INSISTED that he checked our bag personally then he told us that the noodles we got came with the Wonton soup. I've never seen a soup order come with a shrimp and beef lo mein. He then said he would have to send someone out to collect this order then once they made it back to the restaurant they would then make our correct order and send it out. They couldn't send the delivery driver with the correct order?! I had to drive over there to get our correct order and the same guy I spoke to on the phone tried to make me pay for the order again! No apology, no offer of any comp. I insisted he refund the delivery fee because I had to drive over there with strep throat and a 102 fever. Never again. Also, when I went in there the register and counter were gross and sticky and covered in layers of dust. This is the last time I ever order delivery to a place I have never physically been to. read more

This is one of the best genuine Chinese food in Rockford. The restaurant owner and the waiter are friendly. The taste is good for me. The best dish is the fried goat dish. This restroom is clean. We went there today. Good thing we ignored some crap reviews. read more
