Austin Opera

Would be nice if they had a cheaper drink option, though, to help those of us out who don't want to drink over priced wine. The performance, Pagliacci, was fantastic and the set design was classic. I'm looking forward to seeing Figaro and to see how they handle a much longer opera. For as great a venue this is, they should really improve their advertising, perhaps by utilizing the University of Texas more. It would really help their attendance numbers, in my humble opinion.

The next 15 minutes were spent looking for a parking place in the garage. I ended up parking at the very top and taking the elevator down. There were several other older ladies as well there who don't quite move quickly. By the time we walked to the door of the Long Center it was 3 minutes after the start of a 90-minute opera. I raced to get to my seat but was escorted to the upper balcony. As I entered there was a lady bandaging her leg on the stairs. From falling there. When I got to the upper balcony it was pitch dark and the helper had a flashlight that didn't work. It took me a while for my eyes to adjust and finally was able to be seated, slightly short of breath from the race and the altitude of those seats. Other nicely dressed older ladies came in after me and stumbled around to find seats. We were informed we would have to sit there for the duration as there was no intermission for a 90 minute performance. Why? I ask you why? Along with a canteen of water, a flashlight and a first aid kit do I need to bring a catheter to the Opera? This is ridiculous. I am pretty ticked off and will not attend again until something is done to remedy the deeply flawed, user-unfriendly experience I had. Navigating in the dark for a 76-year-old is not something that is a healthy activity. You do realize a lot of your audience are seniors, don't you? You do realize that you all probably go to the valet or VIP parking I passed at the one minute marker entrance to the parking lot and then go to your box seats? You're not experiencing what other people are experiencing and I'm afraid you've lost track. I hope you will do something to remedy.

She thinks of the little things -- for example, we had tiramisu from an outside vendor for dessert. She asked if we wanted them to bring extra cocoa powder to make the slices look more appealing. Who does that? Not to mention she's just really sweet and cheerful. Everything went wonderfully the day of, and many, many people raved about the food! They accomodated an Argentinian-theme wedding for us, and even worked to refine small tweaks we made with a follow-up tasting. We also did adorable, late-night Chicago hot dogs that were also a hit! Their prices were very reasonable, too. To be completely honest, they did forget one very small thing (a drink garnish) and a bigger thing (fries we meant to serve with hot dogs), but honestly, that was far from our biggest concern, and they owned up to the mistake and refunded us. Overall, highly recommend!

Communication was inconsistent, and several interactions happened with extremely short notice, making it difficult to understand what was going on or what the actual plan was. At one point, access to their system changed suddenly without any explanation. No message, no clarification, nothing. It created confusion and made the whole interaction feel unreliable. Overall, the process felt chaotic and poorly managed. Clear communication and basic structure were missing, and the experience left me with serious doubts about how the company operates.

Our…read moresales representative, John Cardone, did a fantastic job guiding us through the entire process and thoroughly explaining all the features of our new vehicle. Our sales manager, Jonathan Abbott, walked us through our loan options with great care to make sure we were completely comfortable with the terms. About six weeks ago I bought a certified pre-owned 2024 Chevy Suburban from Covert Bastrop. Since…read morethen, I have not been able to drive it for more than a week at a time because it keeps going back to the shop. It was returned to the service department through Todd Buck to get everything repaired that I did not expect on a certified pre owned vehicle. I sent pictures to Todd of all that needed his attention. Todd told me everything would be fixed on the rear tailgate, which had a broken third brake light, a button that wouldn't operate the glass, and major scratches. When the vehicle was returned, all he said was that they "did everything." The rear media system still has no power to it. Todd has yet to address this issue, after multiple attempts to contact him. I got no service report and no details about what was actually done. Since then, we have had more issues and unfortunately, Todd has ignored our calls. Three weeks later, while I was driving, the rear tailgate glass assembly fell off and was left dangling by its cables with multiple children in the vehicle. When I called Todd, he told me they had not touched that part and had only reset the button. That isn't what the record shows. The Carfax lists the entire rear assembly as replaced, while in his care on September 8th. Evidentially, the retaining clips were never reinstalled, which is why the glass came off. That could have hurt someone on the road. The vehicle is now being repaired at a different dealership. Throughout all of this, the Covert Bastrop service department was not helpful. For the high price of this vehicle, I expected far better workmanship, transparency, and follow-through. I need them help accountable.

The Epitome of a Terrible Dealership Experience…read more If you are an out-of-state buyer, do not work with this dealership. This ranks as the absolute worst customer service experience of my life. What should have been a straightforward purchase turned into a masterclass in dishonesty, terrible communication, and shockingly combative management. Here is the breakdown of how the horrible experience: During negotiations, the salesperson agreed to secure an extra key for the car, confirming their manager would easily approve it. Shortly after, they backtracked, claiming no one was available to cut the key before delivery. To compensate, they offered $200 cash, only to renege on that offer shortly after too. Next up with the front bumper. From the very beginning, I noticed online that this sporty car lacked a front license plate bracket. Imagine my surprise when I discovered they went ahead and drilled holes right into the front bumper anyway. For anyone who appreciates sports cars and lives in a state that doesn't require a front plate, permanently defacing the bumper is a dealbreaker. After pushing back on the drilled holes, staff initially belittled my concern and claimed they couldn't fix it. They finally proposed using bumper plugs, but tried to make me buy them myself for $85 and expected me to take a drill to the car myself to install them--risking cracking the bumper. I eventually got them to cover the cost and agree to the installation. Once my deposit and wire transfer cleared, communication completely flatlined. Getting an update on the bumper plugs required an exhausting loop of calling the sales person, reception, leaving messages, and texting with either no responses at all or extremely delayed. When I finally reached my salesperson, they claimed the parts department was still waiting on an update. Suspecting something was off, I called the parts department directly. They checked with the other parts department and confirmed the parts had not been ordered yet. When confronted, the salesperson insisted they were ordered on a specific date. They eventually sent a confirmation email that conspicuously omitted the order date. I called the manufacturer directly and discovered the order had actually been placed just an hour after I called them out. Realizing I was dealing with dishonest practices, I gave them a chance to earn back my business or unwind the deal. When I spoke with the sales manager the next day, he argued with me like an unruly child, aggressively defending every mistake and telling me my concerns were "ridiculous" in a borderline yelling, highly combative manner. When I called out his unacceptable treatment of me as a customer in real time, he straight up told me I wasn't a customer to him and that he had zero remorse for how he was handling it. Throughout the purchasing process, finance had repeatedly assured me that the deal could be fully unwound at any point if I wasn't happy. Yet, when I asked to pull the plug, the sales manager flat-out refused, claiming he "wouldn't allow it" and stating I couldn't do it. When I finally went back to the finance person he told me that the sales manager said that if I called back to have me reach back out to him and that he'd agree to unwinding the deal. When I did, the sales manager refused to return my deposit. The finance person confirmed my hands were tied regarding the deposit due to the paperwork. Trapped by the deposit, I was forced to push through and buy the car. And to top it all off, when I finally got my car, the fuse box cover under the glove box was missing (to which the dealership refused to replace), there were coffee stains on the inside center console, brown spots from road use all over the car paint that I had to pay over $800 to get clay barred out, and a literal dent down the whole side of the passenger side door along with a deep scratch stretching those two doors (none of which was visible in the online listing). Save your money, your peace of mind, and your time. Take your business anywhere else.
