The location, building, amenities, and service is just amazing. All units have a big balcony and wall to ceiling windows. The building is fairly well maintained and has a responsive staff. There is 24-hour front desk security, so felt very safe coming in during late hours. There is in-unit W/D, separate thermostats for each room, and quick package delivery from the front desk staff. Hence, it was really convenient and comfortable to live here. The lobby, gym, party area, and the patio adds to the charm. The building is extremely pet friendly with a nice pet walking area right adjacent to our place. There are some nice bars and restaurants such as Carnivale etc. right next door. Jewel Osco, starbucks, chase bank, hair salon are within a 5 min walking distance. If you are looking for a place in West loop, do consider this hidden gem! Vacating this place after a year on account of some personal reasons, but would love to come back here. Will miss the few amazing friends I met here :)

If ever there was a maintenance issue, someone was around that day or the next day to handle it. The residents were always friendly, too. I took major advantage of the free Starbucks machine and the gym downstairs. My unit was extremely spacious; the bathroom was especially nice. I miss that shower immensely. The balconies are also really large, and I liked being able to look out over the West Loop and highway at night. The location is really great if you like to eat out. It's very close to Jewel and close enough to a Whole Foods. There is a CycleBar and Ohm Culture Yoga in the area. Sometimes the dog run area outside gets smelly in the summer, but that was my only irritation. If you want to live in the West Loop, you can get a really good deal here. We only moved because we missed the greenery of Lincoln Park and we like to move every 12-16 months anyway to change things up.

If you are considering living here, read this first…read more I was charged $300 for two blinds upon move-out, described as "custom-made" and damaged beyond normal wear and tear. I have attached the photos they provided as "evidence". You can judge for yourself whether this justifies full replacement. Over multiple email exchanges, management could not describe the specific damage in writing, could not provide documentation proving the blinds were custom, and when I requested an invoice, admitted they did not have one, meaning I was charged before the replacement was even completed or documented. Draw your own conclusions about how this management company operates. And if you really have to live here, document everything before you move out, photograph every inch of your unit, and know your rights under the Chicago RLTO before signing anything here. p/s: What makes this worse is that none of this came after any prior notice or conversation. Their very first communication after my move-out immediately threatened collections and credit bureau reporting if I did not pay within 30 days. Whether this is intentional or simply a failure in their notification system, I don't know. Either way, tenants are blindsided with a payment deadline and a collections threat before they even know a balance exists.

They are the…read moretypical Chicago management company- they are super nice while searching and move in, then you kinda get ignored. They have properties that are pretty spread out, so while maintenance issues get addressed, it seems like the awesome maintenance guy (Patrick) is spread a little thin. My biggest issue was within the last year of me moving out. There were serious issues with the bathroom and tiles falling off, and with the extensive dampness in the last year, I believe the roof was leaking through the drywall in my apartment. The walls and roof started to bubble and crack. At the first sign, I let them know. They did nothing about it despite many notifications. When they decided to start showing the apartment 3 months before my move out, I warned them that the ceiling looks like it's about to fall in and the walls look awful. Some frat bro they apparently hired recently argued with me to the end of the earth that I had never told them about the damage and it wasn't that bad and I was just being difficult about them wanting to show my apartment 3 times per day. Lo and behold after the first showing, they cancelled all following showings and decided to remodel my unit after I moved out. So overall, things were mediocre while I lived there, and a nightmare for the last few months. They were uncommunicative upon move out, and apathetic at best in terms of the quality of apartments. FYI, they've got my old apartment listed with a remodeled kitchen and glued back on shower tiles. It was a one bedroom when I lived there, they slapped a door on the living room, labeled it as a 2 br, and added $550 to the rent price. I pity the fool that moves into that place.

That's the one word to describe my experience at 519 W Melrose Street…read more My now wife and I signed our lease in July 2020 as some of the first tenants from when SRE converted this building from condos into rental units. We originally did our tour and it checked all our boxes: a private balcony, central heat/AC (which is all electric), modern appliances, in-unit washer/dryer, a private parking garage for our car, and close to all the action and the CTA. We loved the apartment, so we went through the leasing process. The signing was straightforward and easy using Docusign. From there, we got the keys and started moving in. Immediately after move-in, the SRE Management team did some fantastic upgrades to ensure 519 W Melrose is a place to call home. Originally, we got Xfinity internet, but received an email saying we will now have Google Fiber internet included in rent! So we used this new internet for the remainder of our time here. The internet worked great and was fast (500 mbps up/down), with minor hiccups during heavy rain and storms. Soon after that, the management team upgraded the call box and building keys to be fobs, which allowed easier entry into the complex. Additionally, they redid the entire carpeting of the hallways, which made the complex look much nicer. These upgrades showed that management truly cares about the building and their tenants. In our five years of living there, we only had about three or four maintenance requests for minor items. For each request, the maintenance team responded immediately and they were always out the next morning to fix the issues. The maintenance team was always super friendly and I enjoyed seeing them - huge shoutout to Amanda for running the requests, and Christian, Neil, and the rest of the amazing maintenance team for being great to work with and talk to. For the five years living there, SRE never raised rent an unreasonable amount - each year it did increase nominally, but moved according to the market rate. We were blessed to find an affordable apartment that checked all of our boxes. Our neighbors were okay - some seem to care about others, some seem to just be annoyed with everything or don't take care of things. Typical for a big city complex. We didn't make much of an effort to meet anyone in our building; however, with the encounters in the public spaces, everyone seemed friendly. Given that the building does not have concrete separating units, occasionally, you could hear your neighbors through the walls/floors. It was never an issue though, even when some of the neighbors are louder at times. Again, just something you get used to living in a large city, and nothing against the complex overall. I've lived in many different apartments and houses over the years, and this apartment was the only place I have had the feeling of "home" since living with my parents as a kid. It is incredibly bittersweet to leave our home at 519 W Melrose, but we started to outgrow our little apartment, as our small family is now growing. If you are reading this review to see if you should sign here, do not hesitate. 519 W Melrose has been the best place I've lived, and SRE has been the best management and maintenance team I have ever rented from. Thank you, SRE and your incredible team, for making my wife and I truly feel like we are at home.

The Good: The building seemed well built. Very few issues with appliances. Nice laminate floors in the unit. Great views of downtown if you are on that side of the building. Close to several great super markets (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Aldi, Marianno's, and Target) that we would walk to. The community area is fantastically decorated. The poker room worked well for small groups to meet up with me in the building. The office area had computers we could use if we wanted while down there. The balcony we had made for a great area to BBQ The New City shopping center opened up across the street while we lived here and brought with it a fantastic movie theater. The online portal for residents is a fantastic way to go about selling stuff to neighbors. The Apple store is close by if you use their products and want to get something repaired. There are a few parks within walking distance of the building. They have a large freight elevator for moving in and out of the building that they do a good job managing schedules with. The doorman is great at handling packages 24/7 for you. They have dry cleaning service in the building through PressBox. They have a nice roundabout for getting picked up or dropped off by uber/lift. The Bad: The parking violation stickers for cars in the garage parked in the wrong spot coupled with very faint lines for parking spots got me very fired up. It was the tipping point for me to get rid of my car and just use Uber. They lost my parking spot revenue (not that they cared) and I gained the freedom of not having to deal with these horrible stickers anymore. The people employed to work as a doorman changed a lot. Some were great, others not so much, the constant changeover was frustrating. Building management would often tell us our neighbors complained about our dogs barking too loud when we first moved in. We were threatened with eviction over it. Dogs bark... Not sure what they expected when they let people with dogs move into the building... We think our neighbor who moved out about the same time the complaints stopped was the reason behind all the complaints. Ensure you tell them in advance that you are moving out or there is a penalty to pay.

This is has been a pretty bad experience…read more The app continues on getting deactivated. I can't get anything done in terms of maintenance because of it. I have a sink that stinks of sewage and I can't get in contact with anyone to help. The closet doors are off the closet and I can't get anyone to fix them. The thermostat in the apartment is broken so it'll either get really hot or really cold in here. The place was filthy when I moved in. I tried to get in contact with the cleaners I couldn't. I am often unable to get my DoorDash orders delivered up to my apartment because the front desk won't let them up due to the fact that my information keeps getting erased from the database. I often receive my mail late. The walls are full of scuff marks and holes from the previous tenants. And I'm paying 3700 a month plus 300 for parking. 4000 to live like this. I really tried my best to like it here. I wanted to but the only great thing about this place is the location and the amenities are OK. My lease is up in April and I can't wait to leave.

It's what we expected for the caliber of the building. Top Top notch, and attention to detail. Another great feature they have is GRILLING STATIONS Galore! And they all have Running water SINKS Y"aLL! (I know right)! Moment does not have any sinks around the grilling stations, so this was a big perk for us to see! Our lease ends until Feb. 2018, so we are not looking to move, but we were curious to see what they have to offer. We were very delighted to see lots of different areas in the building to entertain and have fun. They made great use of the space. They have a lot of fire pits with their own seating area and divided by some pretty green shrubs and prairie flowers on the ground next to the glass railing which add a peaceful and serenity vive to the space. We were shocked to see fire grilling stations all around and on each Amenity floor (even on the 20th floor. They also have a beautiful library with a floating fireplace in the center and around a large comfy couch that is a u shape. The business center is LARGE and with beautiful views. The high rise above Wholefoods, has lavishing green terrace that you can view from this business center. They have a basketball court, putting green, bocce, and pro virtual golf. Indoor and out door pool on the eighth floor. Their doggy park is beautifully set on one side of the 8th floor so cute and very nicely displayed. Most high rises have them tucked away in a garage or ally area. This makes the doggies part of the residents as they have a very nice doggy park. They have a sauna and steam showers on the 8th floor outside right by the pool. There is deck space and views from all over the city! The only place I think that could be better was the pool area. It was too plain and not enough greenery or plants. I was not impressed by the pool and cabanas. But they did hit the ball right out of the park by having so many grills and fire pits all throughout the building. The units were very impressive especially the kitchen. The appliances were top notch and they actually have a vent hood that works quite well and adds nice touch to that area. Plus they have PLENTY of drawers and storage. The glass to floor windows were very large and impressive. However the one bedroom was too small in the living area ( we had to scooch around the coffee table to get thru and to the bedroom.) Perfect size though for minimalist living. Other than that very nice building.
