i don't review alot of our local restaurants because food is a individualized experience and preference. but, i've lived in missouri almost 16 years and since then have been continually searching for a good mecican restaurant that knows how to make a great chili relleno ! ***habaneros... does it !*** i can't stand when restaurants fill them with runny queso. habaneros are filled with shredded cheese & cooked to perfection. the chilis have stock a great flavor without too much spice. but, enough to know it's a good pepper. their guacamole is a little pricey , so i don't usually get it. but, i have before & its amazing. their beans are so creamy & the rice as really flavorful i like their choice of 3 combo. 2 relleno & a hard shell taco with the rice & beans. everything that we have ordered there so far has been so flavorful & we've always been pleased. they have a fairly quick turn around time & the staff has always been so amazing. read more

Stopped off here for lunch on the way back from sightseeing. The reviews online looked promising and we'd been craving some Mexican food recently as well. We both ordered margaritas. Nothing special about them and a bit sweeter than either of would have liked. They brought out complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa needed salt as it was totally bland. Adding salt and mixing it up helped. We asked for hot sauces and they did bring two - a chipotle and a green one. The green was great. Nice heat and good flavor. The chips are definitely not store made and didn't have much flavor. We ordered a chicken quesadilla to split as we were not starving. Contrary to the drinks, the food came out in less than 5 mins. It was actually quite good and we both enjoyed it. All in all it was nothing spectacular but not bad. I was shocked this place was open on Christmas Eve, especially since lots of Latinos celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. The place is really big and was very clean. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but that's kinda where it ended... The food was extremely mediocre; I mean like really mediocre! I had a chicken and beef burrito, and there wasn't a lot of flavor. The wife just got huevos rancheros that came with rice and beans. The rice and beans were both bland, like no salt or seasoning bland! Literally the best thing was my kids Dino nuggets. Yep they have legit Dino nuggets. Always excited to try a New Mexican joint close to home! This one did not disappoint. Chips and salsa are great. Chips came out warm and the salsa had just enough kick. I came in and the girls at the front were understanding and very sweet. I wanted a refund or gift card for my meal because when I got it, it was so oily and I only ate the little rice and top part of the tortilla. The manager who I spoke to was very rude and said "you ate more than half of it". I simply said if it's an issue for it to be refund it that is fine but I'd figured I'd let them know. Then had a bad attitude the rest of the interaction, making it seem like I was fighting over the meal price, but it seemed that they need the $15 more. As a manager it comes with the job of being cordial and respectful to guests, especially when I wasn't rude and the other workers standing there can attest. You can see that I didn't even really it the quesadilla because it was so greasy and I didn't eat the lettuce either. Overall, not comparable to the service or quality when I first came. read more

We just had dinner at this new restaurant to the Springfield area. The food was delicious...very tasty! Our server Moses was very helpful with dinner suggestions and we noticed the staff hustling to keep the tables cleared and service timely! Grade A food, biggest issue I have is I don't know if it was because I was loud our dogs were in a running truck. The manager/shift leader circled me and my boss like we were thieves with 2 cooks. Never felt like I'd have to fight my way out of a dinner besides this one's. I don't know what brought it on but the bartender who was cool disappeared right before this happened. Wouldn't recommend unless you feeling froggy and wanna deal with some non-sense. Overall good food, amazing bartender, and sketchy staff. What an AMAZING restaurant we have been to Habaneros twice now and both times have honestly been phenomenal. Our first visit was on May 5th Cinco De Mayo, and we had a blast the place was jumpin', and the food was nothing short of wonderful. My husband ordered the Habanero Combo and I ordered the Texas Fajitas with extra tortillas everything was so very good. Our waitress Itzel was so nice and so helpful, she was bringing things before we even asked for them. Places need more waitresses like her. I love the look of the restaurant, we sat upstairs, and we could look down over the rest of the restaurant it was very beautiful but crazy fun considering we were there on the 5th of May. read more

We've been to Habanero's multiple times and have always been happy with the food and service, however, last night was very disappointing. Let me first say that our server, Moises, was extremely personable, and very responsive when we asked for anything. The food, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. The salsa was terrible; it looked and tasted like ketchup. We both ordered steak fajitas, and in the past, there were nice sized strips of steak, but this time, it was very tiny, thin strips of steak. Also, the refried beans had a red color to them; I KNOW refried beans aren't supposed to look like that! Unfortunately, based on our food last night, we won't be dining at Habanero's again. read more

Two out of three of my orders were incorrect. When I informed the server he promptly had them remade, which once again were incorrect. I had pointed to the menu for the dish I wanted twice so I can't imagine where any miscommunication could have happened. Additionally I informed my server of my sons food allergies (gluten) yet he was brought flour tortillas. I specifically stated corn tortillas only for all the dishes. 2/3 of them were flour... This is a location that has been known for its different restaurants. I was wondering what was finally going to end up here. Habaneros is a local Tex Mex. I'm not aware of it being a chain but the food prepared to order as opposed to the "pre cooked then microwaved" process. Nacho chips are thicker, cheese is fresh and all the plates served at our table were made w fresh ingredients. The servers were kind and knowledgeable of the menu, the atmosphere was casual and the room was clean.
