Buyer beware!  I asked for a quote 2 years ago when they came out to restart my AC.  Never received a quote.  Now, instead of telling me that my furnace, which they installed, was 37 years old (which I didn't know because I did not live here when it was installed) they tried to fix it.  Soaked me for over $400 rendering the system inoperable, no AC and no heat this winter.  They sent a guy with a new part at no charge, after which I'm told it can't be fixed.  They should never have tried to fix it - 37 years old.   I called and told them I want my money back and send me quotes.  Instead they sent me a bill for $397 for the NO CHARGE visit.  Rip off artists.  If you're female, or an older adult, find someone trustworthy who doesn't take advantage.  Hank is rolling over in his grave. read more

Had them do a dig in the front yard to replace a pipe with tree roots stuck in there. The crew did a great job and were super professional. The owner came out to do an estimate beforehand. The job was completed to specs as communicated. Hoping this stops any issues with the water that came up. Overall, I still have to pay them the second half of the quote, but as long as there are no surprises with the final bill, I wouldn't hesitate to give H W Bryk & Sons a call again for future jobs that come up, especially ones that involve digging - they seem to be experts and have a lot of experience with that sort of thing. read more

I had some minor water damage in my basement because my corrugated drain tile appeared to be plugged due to accumulated sediment. I called H W Bryk and Sons and spoke with Tom in the plumbing department. He explained the procedure called jetting and the cost before sending out a repairman. Toby was sent out and called to say he would arrive in about 20 minutes. It took him less than 5 minutes to determine my system needed jetting and I agreed. He brought in all the equipment necessary which was on his truck and called for another assistant Jesse who brought another truck with more hoses and the large mobile unit to power clean the sewer tiles. In a little over an hour my entire system was cleaned out and flowing correctly. Toby cleaned out all the debris and left my basement in mint condition. Both my wife and I were thoroughly impressed and highly recommend this company for your plumbing needs. DO NOT CALL THESE DISHONEST GOUGERS! Our sewer had backed up. Byrk was here for 3 hours and gave up. We were on day 4 of no toilet, sink or shower. They took $302.00 from us, left us helpless, blamed the city and told us the boss a master plumber would check it out and fix it with the city in the morning. When we called the next day, they basically told us to drop dead, telling us they didn't get involved in "excavation". We called Brundage. Mike showed up quickly and snaked out the clog in 20 min. Charged us $150 and said "sure, no big deal! You should b good for a year." That's the difference between a dishonest and an honest plumber. CALL BRUNDAGE!! read more

I knew Bryk was expensive from previous work done at my home. I called them because I was willing to pay for a job well done. I wish I had read the reviews before calling. I needed a new toilet. I spoke with Tom about the toilet I wanted. I wanted a comfort height oblong bowl. They quoted me a price of $740.00. Wow! I bit the bullet and hired them to do the job. At first I was pleased with the comfort of the toilet, however, as I used it, I came to realize that the bowl was round, not oblong. I dropped the ball. I had been so distracted by my daughter's illness. I just left the job up to the plumber. it took me almost a month to notice I had gotten the wrong toilet. I called Bryk explaining the error . I was told that I had indeed ordered the round bowl. Tom said he had written proof of my order. I had no other choice but to accept his word. I know I did not order a round bowl. I was told we had discussed the bowl based on my having a smaller bathroom. I was never told an oblong would not fit. I have an adequate size bathroom for either bowl shape. Be careful when you work with this company. Ask for a printed work order before you have any work done to protect yourself. I am out $740.00 for my trust in this company. read more

My shower head leaked and HW Bryk sent a plumber. He said I needed a part which the company ordered. The part arrived and the plumber came and installed it. He said because the shower head was square it may leak a while until all the water runs out. The next day, still leaking. I called and the same guy came and fixed it. Only now the the shower handle is stuck on off! I called again and was told, very rudely I might add, that if they come to fix what their plumber wrecked I would have to pay 118$. I got a frantic 5:00 PM call about 4" of water in the basement of our rental property. After trying 3 other businesses that popped up through a Google search, I called H.W. Bryk & Sons. Brandon showed up at my house within 20 minutes. He quickly assessed the problem, and had everything taken care of in around 45 minutes. The price was unbelievable!!! I should have done better research. I just moved to the area so I called HW Bryk & Sons. My shower was backing up and water was coming from the base of the toilet. Obviously a main line clog if you know even the basics of plumbing. He was here for over 4 hours, left my bathroom a mess, and charged me $450! My girl didn't know what to do, so when I got home, I was livid. I cleaned the whole bathroom and the next day, same problem. I called them back and told them twice to make sure they call because my girl is working from home and I am at work so I would have to leave work early.Of course they don't call and just show up, so my girl's pissed because she's on a conference call. I leave work to come home and he left my bathroom dirty again and told me there is no guarantee if he has to come back again. I should have paid the premium to have Rainbow Plumbing come out from Buffalo because they would have probably still been way less and I know the work would have been done right the first time. Unless you like throwing your money in the trash for shotty work and service, call someone honest and reasonable like Rainbow Plumbing in Buffalo. HW Bryk & Sons sucks. Don't call this company if you have a real plumbing issue. I had a mainline blockage through the basement; water was draining very slowly. I called Bryk & Sons. After less than an hour of trying, they got stuck and pulled back out, saying the pipe was broken. They didn't solve anything and didn't stay very long, but still charged $250 - ridiculous. I could've failed for free. Their estimate to replace part of the pipe was almost $7,000. I then called Roto Rooter, who said they wouldn't charge me if they couldn't get the water flowing. They too determined something was off in the pipe, didn't charge me when they couldn't get through. Their estimate was almost half ($3600), and I decided to go with them. When they came back, they got the job done in one day and the water has been fine since then. Obviously, I'll know who to call next time, and who to never call again. Still disappointed I wasted that $250, but I would've wasted much more if I'd stayed with them. If you're thinking of calling them, save yourself the aggravation and try someone who won't rip you off. read more

When the installer tells you that he will be back to install something that is left to be done on the job and it is included in the amount your paying today then tells you a week later that your mistaken (after you have over paid for the job already) you get a ONE star all day long!! Do not patronize this company!!! They are nice enough when they do the work. However do not try to call when a problem arises. Phone calls are never returned, the office workers are rude and not knowledgeable at all. They promise to look into things and never call back. For the cost of the work this is not acceptable. We went days without heat last winter before someone finally got back to us on a product they installed just months before. If anyone is looking for any plumbing services in the Erie or Niagara County area, I would NOT recommend Hank Bryk and Sons. I had a back up in our downstairs bathroom and with a recommendation by a friend who uses them suggested I call Hank Bryk. They had to send 2 plumbers to figure out the problem. The first plumber left me with not being able to use any water/toilet until they could send another plumber which wasn't until the next day, not only that but he couldn't find where the main sewar trap was, how does a plumber not know that? The second plumber from Hank Bryk and sons found roots in the main sewar trap and was able to make enough of an opening so that water was flowing through (this look him a few hours). He immediately suggested we have the pipe dug up and replaced. He did not offer any other options or even try to remove the remaining roots that were still in there or offer to camera the line. Not feeling confident with the services I received I called another plumber for a second opinion. The plumber was there for an hour and a half. In the hour and a half he was there, he educated me on how the plumbing system works and he was able to fix the issue. He removed all of the roots, and found other objects with his snake that Hank Bryk and Sons plumbers missed. Not only that, the amount I was charged was very reasonable compared to what I paid Hank Bryk and Sons (for just putting a band aid over the issue). I asked to speak with the owner (Hank Bryk) after going back and forth with the office manager, Hank Bryk finally called me the next day. I tried to express my concerns with him. He did not allow me to speak, he kept interrupting me and he ended up hanging up on me. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN and I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. Key point here folks, it took Hank Bryk and Sons 7 man hours and 2 plumbers to figure out it was roots in the pipe. read more
