Several years ago, I hired Horbett Heating and Cooling because they were listed as able to work on Aprilaire products. My humidifier had not worked properly since the new furnace was installed. The humidifier was quickly re-wired and is working great. Since then, I have hired them for my annual furnace and A/C routine service. I bought a whole-house filter and a salt-free softener and needed them installed. Knowing they did some piping work on things like boilers, I took a shot at asking them if they could do the job. Worst company ever, I wanted a 2 1/2 ton air-conditioning unit put in and they insisted on a small smaller one, Ken (the main owner at the time) insisted that if the one they're putting in won't work, they were going to replace it with a 2 1/2 ton. That never happened. They insisted my ductwork was too small and came and put bigger ductwork in. It did not solve the problem as the temperature went up outside. The temperature went up in the house. The air-conditioning was running all day long never shut off. After seven years, the air-conditioning blew the oil i'll cover which I was told by a reputable company because it was too small. That's why that happened. I fought with them. They refused to put a bigger one in. I would never hire them ever again. They do what they wanna do and want you to pay for it. Air conditioner lasted 7 years and I had a 5-year warranty and I paid good money for it and I received junk. They need to listen to the customer and give the customer what they're paying for and what they want and stop arguing with the customer read more

Horbett Heating & Cooling helped us twice. The first time was in 2020. So now, five years later, we didn't hesitate to return to the same company. Of course, we considered some different options, but thankfully, we didn't look any further and decided to stick with Horbett's. After the first experience our feedback was very positive, so why not? The day we called, the person handling our case put us on a waiting list. It sounded serious, but she called us back the next day, and within 30 minutes, a repairman was at our door to take care of the problem. They do a great job with scheduling, so the technicians don't waste their time. The repairman explained everything thoroughly that he was doing, including showing test results etc. during the whole process. Definitely, it was an honest and professional approach to customers. He really checked everything to be sure what the exact issue is with the air conditioning unit. After about an hour, he left. Our house started to feel like a happy place again. I contacted Horbett Heating and Cooling for two reasons. First off our hot water tank was getting pretty old and because our basement is partially carpeted we wanted to be proactive in replacing it. Secondly, we had our furnace cleaned by a different company and we were told we needed a new furnace. I told Horbett what was going on and they immediately sent their best technician over to check it out. Turns out there was nothing wrong with our furnace and the other company was just trying to sell us a complete furnace and air conditioning system. We had our hot water tank replaced and decided to add a humidifier because the old one wasn't working. Work was completed in a timely matter by highly competent technicians. They went above and beyond the scope of work we were looking for! The whole project was completed in a few hours by the nicest crew of employees we've ever had in our home. I have used Horbett for over 15 years. From my work furnace to most of my relatives and neighbors they have been my go to. Neighbor received a quote of 10k for a basic furnace with no a/c from one of the "tv" driven outfits. Horbett came in at 50% . Which I felt was fair . Ken is an arrogant, condescending narcissist who skimps on details I fixed for him. He doesn't like to tape furnace plenums and ductwork saying he doesn't like the silver tape it doesn't look good when it's CODE and I knew that! If I had not taped the furnace it would have failed inspection. Be sure you also ask for a condensation filter installed per nys code 803.1 so your old house sewer pipes don't rot out. Remember a customer should never know more than the business. The very business you run. Use the tape on ductwork and install condensate filters and never come here again and insult my intelligence. read more

They came to install new furnace, 3 of them. No masks when I had respect to wear one. They laughed and dropped F bombs the entire time working and never did a combustion analysis or used tech tools like a manometer to verify gas pressures, they left gaps in the return ductwork and plenum I had to resolve. And they are supposed to install Z-Flex liner in the chimney which they had in the truck but it was too cold for them still no scheduled date as to when that will be done although its required and weather has been good. Then they stuck stickers all over the place on my water tank, ductwork. listen I wont be needing any tech service, I got it from here and your stickers were removed from my property! read more

Horrible. This co.pany is robbing NYS funds by the HEAP Dept. Shotty work that took them over a year and a half to fix. No because no condensate filter was installed. This leads to acidic ph levels in underground pipes. This leads to corrosion ad cracking which causes backups, drain files and other nasty critters. NYS, ODTA and the Attorney General have been informed. Enjoy your last uear of business, you crook. read more

All I can say is these guys came through when we needed a new fan meter wheel installed because the prior owners of our recently purchased home apparently performed a botched attempt on their own. We had contacted another company first because that in their ad stated they serviced our brand of furnace( Goodman) but they would not honor the warranty for it. The company did reach out to me after reading my review and ask for my side of the story. I had told the salesmen several times my wife was not interested in the rheem unit and we would like to get a Trane unit installed and he assured me it wouldn't change the quote. They said they would reach out to me after hearing the salesman's side. I guess this is how they chose to reach out to me. Once again I stand by my statement if you are going to deal with this company stick to dealing with the owner solely. It won't guarantee honesty but it should avoid he said she said. read more

The technician just left after doing a furnace tuneup. Very nice young man, went above and beyond a little bit by installing a carbon monoxide detector for me AND reset the schedule on my thermostat (which inexplicably jumped off the wall on its own a few days ago and wanted to stay at 70 degrees thereafter). He also gave me paperwork to get a $60 rebate from National Fuel. I couldn't be happier with Horbett and will definitely use them again. read more

Long story short Horbett charged us a huge fee to send a tech for 5 minutes to check on a loud noise our furnace was making. They could not quote us before coming on site and when telling us the price after it was fixed, we were shocked. We called the owner to complain, and he offered to split the bill to make up for the inconvenience. He later sent a check back to us in the mail for LESS THAN 15% of what we paid. What a ripoff. I had an okay experience with Horbett Heating & Cooling in December 2013. They came out to replace my electric motor on our hydronic heating system. Long story short, they put the pump on backwards and the water was pumping into the zone valves the wrong way. The pipes would bang very loudly every time the heat would turn off, so loud that it would wake me up multiple times a night. A technician came out and couldn't find the problem, so I took a closer look at the valves and saw that the pump was installed backwards. I called them back and they agreed to come back and flip the pump around, although it took them six weeks because there were other customers without heat. They were always very polite and professional on the phone. Although they left messes in my basement they did eventually fix their mistake and called later to formally apologize. read more

Horbett Heating and Cooling did a fantastic job at replacing our hot water tank. We had a plethora of area plumbers that were totally incompetent in even diagnosing the problem. Others were intimidated by our venting. The boss at Horbett came out to the house to look at the job and gave me the assurance that his team could handle the job. The men that came the following day did a quality job. They even went the extra mile to replace a couple gas valves and straighten up some of the plumbing they felt uncomfortable with (after I paid them).. For guys they attempted to clean up after themselves, which is a plus for the effort. I'm a customer service gal.. So I would say their guys could work a bit on smiling and being a bit more cordial like their boss, but that didn't affect how well they did their job... read more
