It's a solid choice in terms of location and offerings. The store itself is trying to cram too much into not enough square footage. The aisles are super narrow which is terrible if there's any kind of crowd or more than one person trying to go down the produce aisle. PROS: Fresh produce, same offerings as other locations, seafood, food court, bakery CONS: Narrow aisles Not enough space to accommodate carts and large crowds read more

The smell was worse than a skunk's ass!!! There are no words that could describe the stink of the fish that I bought yesterday from this location. They shrink wrap the fish and hand it to you when I got home and opened up the plastic, I nearly passed out from the stench! Also upon handling of the fillet it was falling apart and all slimy in my hands I knew it was not edible. I tried calling up the location but I've now been unsuccessful the last two days I will just give up as no one answers the phone and it's not possible to leave a message. I hope no one ate what I bought and got sick but then again the guy at the fish counter was less than pleasant and he had to have known that the merchandise was spoiled. read more

I have no idea why this H-Mart location has a 3 star rating. I've been to this H-Mart a couple of times since it opened recently and have had a very positive experience each time. This location has a great selection of very fresh produce that spans from grocery store standards to imported varieties of fruits and vegetables. Obviously, they have an excellent selection of Korean groceries and household products. There are dozens and dozens of samples throughout the store around mealtimes of fruit, vegetables, cheeses, their fresh-made food, frozen foods, snacks, and drinks. They also have a great food court with a variety of Korean and other Asian food stalls. The store itself is very clean and has great lighting. The bathroom is incredibly clean as well and the staff are courteous. There is plenty of parking as well. read more

One of the best Asian groceries I've ever been to! All of the meat, fish and produce are really fresh and they have large aisles with anything you could ever need for any dish you make. They are reasonably priced and very helpful and friendly throughout the store. I have no tried anything from the cafe inside but I'm looking to in the future! read more

Love this place! The food court is super cozy and all the dishes are always soooo delicious! I just wish there was more room to sit. The market itself is clean and well organized. They always have what I need. read more

What is bad about this place? Ummmm.... nothing. We went there to check it out and left with a bag of awesome stuff and had a bite. I love the fact that they have samples, I never had some of the products and ending up buying something. Bought this awesome soup and I literally want 20 more packages. Prices are great. We can't wait to go back and get more food. read more

The shopping experience here in Paramus is much better than the one in Ridgefield. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was relatively empty. Granted the grocery store is a lot smaller but there is still a great variety of marinated meat, seafood, vegetables and of course ramen :) If i am ever in the area again, will definitely stop by ! read more

This is my go to spot for buying fresh sushi-grade fish. The store is well lit, clean, and it's not a problem if you don't speak Korean..most of the staff can communicate in English . One thing I can't get over is the wide array of items stocked here: beauty products, Korean favorite like bimbap, Chinese treats like poky, Thai produce like durian...and there's a whole asile of kimichi. This is a great location to pick up all the Asian groceries (etc.) you need , but it can be a little tricky for navigation systems to route you there from the highway , so pay close attention when drive here . read more

It's great to have H-Mart available in the barren suburbia wasteland of Paramus. It brings a glimpse of diversity to a landscape of chains that cater to the bland western palette. This H-Mart is new and modern, even by H-Mart standards. Some call it gentrified, but it still has nearly all necessary Asian ingredients (except maybe for Indian dishes), and even has hot food available to go. I for one prefer my shopping experience without grime on the floors, and rotting fish smells wafting through the air. Finally, I want to mention that this location is more spacious than the one in Manhattan, but smaller than the Little Ferry offering. read more

Loved their fresh fish section! It's a little smaller than the Little Ferry H-Mart but it is worth the stop if you live close to it. Plenty of fruits and veggies; exotic and not so much. They have organic fruits and veggies but it's a little pricy. Their ramen isle is plentiful. Everything you need you may find here. I was especially impressed with their dried fish section. I think they could've made it architecturally better if the isles were wider. It hard to fit two carts side by side. Other than that, I'll definitely be back! read more

H-Mart is a 1 stop shop for all things Korean. All the koreaboos, rejoice. If only this place sold K-Pop, it'd be perfect. We came on a Saturday afternoon not only to check out their food court, with choices a-plenty. But also the actual supermarket itself, which is wonderful. Lots of prepared foods that you can take home and reheat at home. The frozen section is huge and had every delightful Korean frozen food, sweet and savory, that you can think of. Because it was a Saturday, there were plenty of sample stations open and these ladies were not cheap with the samples. Nor did they care if you asked for a second sample. One sample station had these deep fried mini crabs, with a garlic aioli to dip in. Absolutely crunchy salty heaven. They were like mini crustacean chips. Its impossible to eat just one. The lady just laughed at my unfettered glee as I chomped on one. She kindly offered more. A woman after my own heart. Now, since you can't (& shouldn't) have a lunch consisting of free samples, we marched on to the food court after securing the much sought after Banana Milk that my daughter had been begging me for. The price point at the food court is a bit higher than your typical food court but I feel that it is warranted with the quality of the food that you are getting. I got the spicy squid bibimbap ($16), which comes with miso soup, and is served in an authentic hot stone bowl. The food came out piping hot. The rice getting crunchier as you mix around the gochujang with the rest of the ingredients. I wish it had been spicier but I've been told that my taste buds can probably handle hot lava so the spice level on this is probably just right for any Muggle. My boyfriend got the seafood pancake and the japchae ($9.99 for each) The seafood pancake was equally crunchy, fluffy, salty and delicious. They were not cheap either with the squid and shrimp. It was also huge and I was only able to eat 1/4 of it. A total steal for $10. The japchae was just ok. A little too sweet for me. Ive had a far better japchae from Woorijip in Ktown in Manhattan. All in all, this H-Mart location is far superior from the madhouse one in Manhattan and the prices are better too. I cant wait to go back and try the Korean fried chicken station at the food court and of course, for the deep fried mini crabs. Oh Yum. read more

Grand Opening today, lots of traffic and very crowded but somehow everything was still operational and the lines were moving along. Multiple police vehicles around the parking lots directing traffic but I guess it was just the grand opening and that the frenzy would die down once a few weeks pass. A medium-sized H Mart, much bigger than, say the location in KTown Manhattan but smaller than some of the mega locations I've visited in Chicago. You will find everything you need here and they have a large team of staff at most of the sections either explaining their offerings to you or ushering you along the queue. Lots of marinated meat selections as usual. There is a weigh by the pound meat section that looks almost like self service but one of the staff actually has to assist you and you cannot use the tongs to grab meat yourself. The prepared food section looks good as well and there were good options. Perhaps due to the volume of people hitting them on day one, it seemed on the lighter side and I saw some empty sections that were awaiting restocking. Lots of free samples in various locations and they even had sashimi fish samples today! Nom. Small food court area that got very crowded today, but again, somehow it was quite functional and after standing in line for 10 minutes, we did not have to wait too long for our number to be called. Three "shops" in the food court offering various Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Cajun options. We even saw someone order delicious looking steamed lobsters and clams. I wish parking could be a better but it's a great location and you can probably find parking in the other lots that's just a couple minutes walk away. And I am Asian but I was surprised at the mob of Asians and their families roaming around here. It was a nice congregation. A reliable go-to for Asian, especially Korean, items in the Paramus area. read more

Closest H-Mart from where I live. They got everything I need. Can't believe this was Comp USA before.

As an update, they now have the smaller carts similar to Wegmans! It's much easier to navigate with these in the narrower aisles. Parking is also better, but it may still be an issue on the weekends. I avoid the crowd by going on the weekdays. I have been getting lunch here during the work week. There's a bunch of cheap options such as microwaveable ramen cups for less than $1.50, Black Bean sauce rice cups for $3.50, plus dessert and drinks for less than $1.50. If I wanted to eat better, they do have hefty prepared rice bowls with BBQ Beef, Chicken, or Eel for $7.99 in cold displays behind the produce area. All that's missing is a microwave, but my office has one so it's not an issue for me. read more

Get there around 9:30pm and a lot of workers out in the front squatting and smoking. Very unprofessional. Why not smoke in the back. I don't want to get a out of smoke getting in to the store. Isn't this a violation, smoking certain distance of the entrance. I should ask the city. The food four is terrible. No comparison to super h mart and its very expensive. I don't k,ow where they picked these restaurants but its gonna drag them down. Thebplace looks nice and closer to my home thus extra star. read more

While it's great to have H mart in town I noticed few thing right away that makes this location less desirable when it comes to weekend grocery shopping. 1. Price. Not only a lot of same items that are on sale in its sister stores but not here but also many items are priced higher than other H Mart to begin with. 2. Food Court. Tried several dishes on grand opening day and they are mediocre at best yet their prices are either similar or more expensive than most Korean restaurants in place such as Fort Lee and Palisades Park. I really wish they improve quality of their food because there aren't any Korean restaurant in Paramus except one I can think of. 3. Limited selection and narrow aisles. I guess not much can be improved here. Overall, it's good spot to grab things if you need in course of Asian cooking but I will still visit other Korean market in Fort Lee/Palisades Park if I need to stack up Asian groceries. read more

Great selections of produce, meats, and prepared food. Everything we bought was delicious! Wild shrimp were out of this world good. My only beef is that the employee helping in the fish section and wandering around was incredibly grumpy and unfriendly. As first time shoppers this was a turnoff. (He is much more patient with people) Parking was convenient and it was not too busy during rush hour. read more

Finally a H Mart in Paramus! I was excited about this store opening since it meant I wouldn't have to travel 20 mins away to their ridgefield location. I know there's a little ferry location too but the quality of their produce doesn't seem as great. The store is brand new and very modern looking with a food court area, bakery, and little sushi area. They have an abundance of fresh produce, meat and fish although they are priced slightly higher than other h marts. I've noticed too they don't mark down prices on their pre-made food like how ridgefield does after a certain time near closing unless I came on an off night or something. The main great factor about this h Mart is its location if you're too lazy to be stuck in rt 4 traffic getting to their RF location. read more

Zero star!!! 2 incidents occurred same day!!!DISGUSTING AND SNEAKY CONNIVING PEOPLE!! Dry food fell from a container all over the floor. This lady that works there picked up the food and handed it to the fish department. I was thinking they are going to throw it away BUT I saw him repackaging the food!!!! I raised my voice and told him " that was on the floor how can you try to resale that?!" He looked at me and walked away. Omg now I'm having second thought about the food they sell. This is absolutely disgusting I cannot believe I just saw that. Tasting sample of top blade steak and decided to buy one. The one we picked was 10.07 and I asked the lady what she added to the meat. She said garlic, salt, pepper and olive oil. The powder looked different then what we used and asked her to add some on my meat. While she is adding this guy from the meat market comes out of no where and takes our meat and tells us I will rewrap it for you. It was nice of him and we waited until when he brought it back he changed the price!!!! I asked him sir this was 10.07 why did you change it to 11.47??? He responded with rudeness and kept saying I did. It change anything. I was pretty upset and we knew we were not going crazy. We complained to the lady that gave us the sample. She went to look for him and brought back our old price that was on the meat. I was shocked to find out the price 10.07 she brought back. She said that guy priced it 11.47 because after she sprinkled the salt and pepper, it weighed more and came out 11.47. I could not believe what she was saying and what he did. We argued with her that's does not make sense. You sprinkled alittle on the meat and how can it weigh more??!!! She said it was him And gave us the original price tag and told us to use that tag. I told her it's not the price it's they way how he lied to us, changed the price and was very rude. I went to complain to customer service about how they try to resale the food that was on the floor and how the meat department guy changed our price and was lying to us. SHE APOLOGIZED AND AGREED WITH ME THAT WAS WRONG WHAT THEY DID. I will make sure they do not ever do this to customers!!! Please becareful what you buy UPDATE****** I REACHED OUT TO THEM ON THE EMAIL PROVIDED TO ME AND NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. CLEARLY THEY KNOW WHATS GOING ON AND JUST IGNORES AND DONT CARE!! Next step would be contacting the health department!! AGAIN THIS PLACE IS DIRTY AND CHANGES THE PRICES read more

First time here and I will be back. Did a walk they of the supermarket very clean and the food is fresh. A superb selection of seafood, meat and vegetables. I am glad that H Mart has finally come closer to home. It is smaller than most of the others, but I can't say that bothers me too much. Like many other H-Marts, the parking is limited. The traffic on 17 is a pain, but that is nothing new. The produce is ALWAYS fresh and the store is incredibly clean. I have been a fan of Korean food and ingredients for some time now, but driving to Ridgefield was always a pain. This is super convenient, and I am glad it is here. read more

I cannot believe what I have seen. Dried squid in plastic container fell on the floor. I don't know why a lot of stupid people come here mostly Americans who never seen a Korean pear or never been to Chinatown or just stupid asian seniors who just moop around and don't buy anything The parking gets crazy on the weekends so go there in the night time to avoid the idiots the food bar is highly overpriced and overrated so only buy unless you did not eat for the whole day cause one meal will cost you about 12mcdonald cheeseburgers the only reason I shop at these Hmart is for the average kimchi and The steaks. The staff here come from overseas so good luck trying to communicate with them. Give it another 6 more months for it to settle in for less traffic then it should be like a regular asian Hmart if you want a real asian experience your better off going to mitsuwa in Edgewater probably 20 min away but at least you can have a 2 course meal there and have enough to buy a Chinese soda pop read more

I've never encountered such rude staff from those who passed out shopping carts who yell at customers while waiting in line to enter this awful store and cashiers with their broken english yelled at my eighteen year old daughter thinking my daughter wasn't standing on the social distance marker when she was. Excellent variety of everything you could possibly need to make a delicious Korean meal. Lately I've been obsessed, especially after buying Maangchi's cookbook. The prices may be a little bit high on some of the packaged items, but it's fair considering how hard those items can be to find. I found some really cool dishware here at very reasonable prices, and not a single one of them was broken on the shelves. There is plenty of parking and the cashiers are very efficient, so it's easy to get in and get out read more

Stopped by to see the new HMart. Very nice! It's smaller than the ones we usually go to, but it seemed clean and compact. Prices reflect the location- but it's much closer to us than any other. Sadly, we didn't have time to try out the food court. Maybe next time! read more

Disappointed ! Very rude man with glasses in the aisle, who screamed at me when I asked him about a product that was not on the shelf. He asked me why I was asking him and I should be asking customer service. I don't know why most of them are always so angry there! Everyone have bad days but its pure unprofessional to act the way he did to me. I stayed calm because I wanted to avoid to be angry back because its not worth it! I am sure he felt guilty but damage is done and he is the one to reflect back. I have been to the one in Fort Lee and so far I have never had any experience like in Paramus. The rudest Hmart I ever visited! I went there today and stood in line to buy my groceries and just when I was about to put my items down a boorish old Korean lady with short permed hair pointed her finger at me and yelled "You! Go there!" Then she proceeded to close the lane. She didn't ask she yelled. I then stood in another long line and when I got to put my groceries down I looked for my Hmart card and tried giving it to the lady. The lady whose name is Sonia based on my receipt saw me and grunted there and moved her head to indicate where I should I scan it. It was behind the plastic paneling so I asked her if I should do it. She clearly understood no English. I tried scanning it and it didn't work and I tried explaining that. She then grabbed my keys and scanned it herself after making sounds like she was annoyed. I then told her not to grab my keys and that she was extremely rude for no reason. She never apologized just rolled her eyes! This Hmart is rude and racist towards non Koreans. I will never go back there again based on this horrible horrible experience! I included two pics to show the cashier's name and the date and time of this awful incident! Beware! read more

It's a nice looking store. But the cashiers do not say "Hi" or "Thank you." Not a smiling face can be found. It's a simple gesture. Especially important for a Korean store.
