We like to come here for specialty items that we can't find in regular grocery stores. I have to say, during my last trip, we purchased the pre-marinated meat that you can buy by the pound and it was delicious! Tender and full of flavorful. I highly recommend checking it out. It's clean and everyone is friendly. I LOVE the smaller shopping carts- so much easier to work your way throughout the store. Don't forget to bring your own reusable bags! Nice that they opened an H-Mart in Paramus! Interesting decor, too. They seem to adapt for their choice of location, as this one sort of presents as a H-Mart that recently took over a Whole Foods. It's not quite up there with the Super H-Marts like in Ridgefield and Edison, but not far off at all, and they only opened up fairly recently, so they may still be building. Worth stopping in. If you're unfamiliar with H-Marts and don't tend to look for Asian grocery food in particular, you should still check out an H-Mart simply for its fresh quality of fruits, vegetables and seafood. read more

I used to like this store but recently i found out they tricked customers in a very bad way. Instead list the price for a bag of fruit, they list the price per lb and per pound letter is in fine print. So last week i went there to purchase a bag of fruit and thought it is $4.99. When i went home and looked at the receipt, found out i actually paid $17.51. I should go back to store to return and get refund but it will cost me 30+ minutes drive. Plus the bottom half of the fruit is not fresh. Please be cautious with this misleading/cheating. Today i went back to store and found out they used red ink to watermark per pound. This is one of the newer locations . Easy to get to from route 17 or route 4. The store is smaller than their other locations. A bit cramped. But they have most of the things you need if not all. There is a small food court which keeps on changing. read more

Their Fort Lee location is bigger but it's further away and much more crowded so I shop here instead. I go here for fish among other things as the quality is leagues better than most other supermarkets for the quality. I am also a fan of their brand of pumpkin jook/juk/porridge. The pre-marinated meat is also good though I prefer making my own with their beef and one of the many KBBQ sauces they sell. They have a good selection of Asian goods (primarily Korean of course) that you won't find outside of this market and a few small mom/pop places primarily within the Fort Lee/general vicinity. Of course the prices are higher but the convenience is here. This place is fine and it has a nice small food court as well. read more

This H-Mart is huge and there's so much choice of yummy stuff here. Also, samples galore! They have non-Korean products as well but I would say that this is probably not the best place to pick up some almond milk or orange juice (EXPENSIVE!). I fell in love with this place when I went into the ramen aisle. Yes, there is basically a whole aisle of different types of ramen. I know most H-marts are pretty similar but this one just seems so much better because it's still somewhat new and shiny. The spice was just right, nice little kick to it, fried to perfection and had the perfect size. I ordered the small which came with a dozen wings for 12$. The lady, (didn't catch her name) was very sweet, I asked her for ranch dressing and was a tad disappointed she only gave me one serving. This place was amazing! Fully stocked with variety of products. Originally I came to just check out what they had, but ended up spending close to $200 on variety of foods. I got things such as winter mellon, durian (check out the frozen section), century eggs, champaigne/strawberry flavored kit kat (those were not my cup of tea), and plethora of other things. My favorite item which is a must! Potatoes and cheese wrapped hotdogs/corndogs. Get it at the frozen section! Some items are more expensive and some are cheaper from what I've noticed. For instance red caviar which was about 3 times pricier (and not as good) than a Russian store. The drinks you get at the food court are $3, yet the same ones in the store are $2. My wife and I spent about an hour or more walking each isle checking out the food and we still couldn't decide on some things, because of the number of choices (which is amazing). During that time my wife lost her ID and I drove back down to look for it. Luckily someone turned it in and they even had a note as to where it was found! Truly amazing experience with costumer service, number of choices, and the quality as well as availability of items! read more

What I thought was meaty filets turned out to be a package of fish bones with sparse oily meat.. ruined our dinner and I threw the whole package in the trash. I decided to go to H Mart for some groceries. Upon arrival, it wasn't too crowded and parked and then grabbed a cart and headed in. Before entering, there was an employee that asked where we got the cart and he stopped us to grab a cart that was alongside the building. He was disinfecting the carts for the customers and we grabbed one that was already cleaned. Produce was stocked with fruits and vegetables and had most of what we needed to purchase. The meat department was fully stocked with chicken, beef, and pork. And we were able to grab what we needed. The store was overall very clean and tidy. There were many employees continuously stocking the shelves and cleaning. All the employees were all wearing gloves, masks, and face shields. The aisles are very narrow but customers were social distancing and kept moving as they shopped. We were not in for long but we were able to purchase everything on our list. Even with checking out, there were lines along the floor to separate the customers with employees directing traffic to the next available cashier instead of crowding. It was not something on my list but they did have toilet paper and paper towels if anyone is still looking. This was my first time coming back to H Mart since the quarantine but H Mart did not disappoint. It's those little things like disinfecting carts, crowd control, and masks and shields that make a difference to give me peace of mind while shopping during this time. Store looks to be pretty clean, yes some issues inside but cleaner than most considering. Fish looks fresh, eyes on fish are clear and not glazed over. Prepared foods look interesting and inviting. No strange smells coming from seafood area. Prices are hit and miss; some fare is priced well, while some meat is super expensive for no reason. Parking is a little tough, and even at 9:30am H Mart will be crowded. Aisles are tight, but passable if you're not standing in the way blocking, or being a moron hindering others. Carts are normal, but I heard they are being replaced by smaller carts. Hopefully that makes passing up and down each aisle less painful. Prices of food hall seem to be on par with other restaurants. If $11 is too much for meat, soup, rice, and a side then please never leave your house you cheap bastard. I mean prices can be better but they are not totally off base. Overall, this is Paramus, the spoiled super entitled uppity assholes run the county part of Bergen county. They wanted the H Mart, but then down vote it when H Mart opens. Everything seems to be on par with any other grocery store in the county. These asshats can keep complaining about H Mart, but I will frequent the place for extraordinarily unique dinners. read more

Finally an Hmart close to home. I no longer have to drive 20mins to get to one. Being brand new, this supermarket is obviously very clean and modern. It is however smaller than some of their other locations. What's good is that this one has a food court built in and the bakery shop. The food court is very small and tight. High top seating along the one side, then one line of sit down tables and then the line of different eateries. I believe there were about 6 different choices to choose from. Their menus are hung up high so with the tight spaces, it's really hard to read the menu without sitting on top of someone eating at the tables. The prices are higher than their other locations but I guess it's fair for Paramus area. Since today was their grand opening day. There were police directing traffic outside. Inside there were many staff members as well as people from corporate overseeing the process. It was completely packed today but I would think the traffic would die down later. Overall a great supermarket at a great location now for all of your Asian food needs. read more

I've been here at least a dozen times since it opened, and we cannot get enough of this place! Our household goes through a lot of Korean and Asian food since it goes well with our diets. (Keto, paleo, and vegetarian) We can find all the exotic produce and specialty items easily, and those we can't- we just ask and the ladies are eager to help and make suggestions. I'm already on a hugging basis with the seafood and meat ladies, they love me and I love them! Our kids eat most everything here, especially the fresh sushi grade salmon that we bring home and cut up ourselves. The place is new, but everything is well kept I the meat and seafood department. The variety of kalbi and meats are unreal, and the seafood department never "smells"...it's always fresh and still has the scent of the sea. We used to go to a similar place like this down in edgewater and we missed it terribly. So happy to have another Asian market so local again! read more

H-Mart, minimized. Store has most of the basics for Asian cookery. Fresh produce. Fresh seafood. Nice meats. Bakery was fully stocked with different tasty treats like Red Bean Donuts, Croque Monsieur, etc. We ate at the cooked food area. VERY busy during the weekend but they have a good system. Ordered the Korean Ramen with pork dumplings. Not bad for $10considering it was a HUGE bowl. My Spicy Fried Chicken Combo wasn't bad either. For $18, I got a HUGE serving of fried rice, 2 spring rolls, egg soup (as they called it... it's a cross between egg drop soup & miso soup), pickled radishes, and spicy fried chicken (reminiscent of Panda Chicken's orange chicken). It was good and the serving is good enough for two. Too bad I didn't get a picture. Anyone who knows me well can tell you I've been dying for HMart to open in Paramus because I'm too lazy to drive to other towns. Occupying the former Staples on Rt 17, the store is small. Like one Yelper mentioned, the aisles are narrow, so Wegmans-like shopping carts would have been great. Other than that, it's a Korean food lover's dream. You have all your basics, like fruits and veggies, meats, fish, an aisle devoted to snacks/candy, rice, noodles, ramen. Then you have some extras like a marinated meet bar for KBBQ, prepackaged sides, and meals to go, like kimbap. (I wish they had veg kimbap). There's a bakery called Tous Les Jours that sells delicious pastries, sweets, cakes and beverages. Near the bakery are refrigerated cases of Korean (and some Japanese) pastries and sweets. The frozen aisle has rice cakes, mandoo (dumplings), etc. On the opposite side of the store is a food court called Food Hall. They have a sushi vendor, a bunshik/hearty meals vendor called Sang's Kitchen, and another vendor whose name started with an O that has soon du bu and I think bibimbap. I tried Sang's Kitchen, and I ordered a medium, original fried chicken with spicy sauce on the side, to go. It took about 20 mins to cook, so I waited at the front and observed other food coming out. It honestly all looked delicious, and the service is well paced. The food hall has a small amount of seating, so I brought my food home, and it was still fresh, warm and crisp. The chicken wings were meaty, slightly over cooked, but still a good amount of crunch. The spicy sauce wasn't super spicy, but it had a great kick to it. Parking on grand opening day was super tight, and it spilled into the BJs lot, but 2 days later, it wasn't so bad. Cashiers are super quick and ringing up and bagging. I'll definitely be back to pick up basics and try more food from the Food Hall. Update: although both are good the beef with rice and the bulgogi taste exactly the same read more

This is a nice H Mart - it's clean and I've always been able to find everything I need. It is a little smaller/tighter than other locations I've been to and its location off Rt 17 is very abrupt and easy to miss. It is quite busy most of the time - I've always had to wait in line by the register and a couple times I've had to line up outside, but it does move quickly and efficiently (never waited more than 5 min in line for either). Would recommend going during the weekdays since it is noticeably less crowded. Located in the same shopping center as PetSmart/DSW/BJ's Wholesale Club. The food court options (particularly Big Bowls Little Plates) are awesome. read more

If not for that, I would not give even a star because, after shopping there for a year, I could count on one hand times when I did not catch staff overpricing the meats at the marinated meat department (they will enter the price for a more expensive product ) or, at the register, entering the price for an item I did not buy or scanning items several times especially if you buy several identical things. Usually register staff adapts the attitude " Of "I don't speak whatever you do" or "I don't know what are you talking about". Has a tiny food court with a few seats. The market itself is well stocked, clean, and has pretty much everything you need. My only issues is that it's pretty narrow and if you know anything about korean shoppers, they usually gather and are in everyone's way (jk...) so i find that the movement within aisles will have issues. Eh the customer service is kinda lacking. No one knows if they carry what the customer asks for. I went in as soon as they opened and so therefore it was neat. Workers were unpacking boxes and restocking shelves. I couldn't find a particular product so I asked one of the people working there and he had no idea so he told me to ask another guy and that guy recommended I'd ask customer service. Of course customer service didn't know either so I ended up leaving the store without it and it's an asian food "thai chili paste" I'm sure it was somewhere in the store I just gave up after roaming for 20 mins. They get 3 stars bc they were organized but lose two stars due to the lack of customer service. read more

If you can tolerate the odor of the "food court" and fish section there are wonderful things you can purchase here. Unfortunately for Americans there is No customer service at all to explain what the hundreds and hundreds of sauces and noodles etc. they have. And many look fabulous but what are they?? Don't ask the one sushi chef to make you anything special he is extremely temperamental. The fruit is fresh and good. I visited this H-Mart location about three times after the pandemic began and I have to say that they are really consistent with sanitizing carts and providing gloves and sanitation products to customers. H-Mart always delivers on great selection and produce! I personally love their vegan kimchi (though a bit pricy). My only criticism is regarding social distancing in the store, I've been there and customers have been packed in the store. I think they should keep count of how many customers are in the store and allow limited capacity if at all possible. read more
