H-E-B - Grocery Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

We really like this HEB! They have great produce and good prices. They make fresh pizzas and serve beer. The wine selection is pretty comprehensive. This morning they were playing jazz music throughout the store, it was nice to shop with a good beat. They can get busy at times but they do a good job opening up enough registers to get us through the check out lines. read more

There are a few items that I wish I didn't have to trek all the way to the HEB Plus on Bandera to find, but they have 99% of what I want and the store, while large, isn't so large that I feel lost and overwhelmed. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful, also. And, their meat/fish departments are great (especially for a suburban grocery store)! read more

Anyone ever feel as though they connect with a grocery store? Or is that just me? Y'all, this HEB and I have a good thing going. Since moving jobs, this HEB is roughly 1 minute away from my office and a lifesaver. I typically only pick up one or two items here as it is not my everyday grocery. The parking lot allows for many cars, and it is quite easy to snag a spot. The store itself is clean and the floor plan is adequately laid out as the prepared food is right when you walk in, making for an easy run if you just need a salad, soup, sandwich, or let's be honest cookies. For gift giving purposes, the floral and wine sections are expansive. Both have many price points to meet anyone's needs. Also HEBs health food + gluten free section continues to increase, so many brands are available including Siete Tortilla for those needing a taco fix without the gluten after effects. Because can you live in San Antonio and not eat tacos, answer is no. HEB continues to lead the way in showcasing new, local brands who are trying to get their start, and this store is no exception. The store is huge without being an HEB Plus, and the lines are not overwhelming. I gladly can run in and out in 5-10 minutes which is a major plus. I highly recommend this store for all of your grocery needs. read more

Shocking Racial Profiling! (If I could, I would put 0 Stars!) Myself, my husband and our family are regular customers to the HEB stores and I was appalled to hear how my husband was treated in this location this morning just by being a black male with a black jacket & a black/yellow hat on shopping for his breakfast items before heading to work. He was approached in the cereal aisle by an associate asking if he needed any help with anything. My husband replied politely "No thank you." My husband continued to shop for the remainder of the items he needed and noticed he was being followed by the same associate who approached him asking if he needed help. My husband at first brushed it off because he had a minimal amount of time before having to be at work, but after being followed into the 3rd aisle by the very same associate; he began to be frustrated as any of us would feel. My husband asked the associate if there was a reason he was following him and instead of responding in case of being mistaken the associate rushed off to the back of the store where employees only have access. My husband immediately went to checkout with his items and asked the cashier for a manager. The cashier asked if there was a problem. My husband informed her that he shops at the store regularly when commuting to the clinic where he works, pays for every item he gets and didn't appreciate being followed by an employee just because of the color of his skin and by having a black jacket with a black/yellow hat on (keep in mind it is cold outside!). The cashier got a manager over but not before noticing that the manager waved the associate whom was following my husband to stay in the back area. My husband told the manager the same thing he told the cashier and the manager acted as though she was shocked, she apologized and asked for the description of the employee which my husband gave to her even though he already witnessed that she knew who did it and he had done. After hearing this, we are thinking twice about spending our hard earned money at any of the HEB establishments again! Customers are one of the main components that keep a business thriving, so why treat your customers in such a manner? EVERYONE should be treated equally no matter race, sex or religion!!!!! read more

I wish they had more name brand items other than HEB brand. I often have to stop a Super Target to get what I need.

This HEB is way too big and disorganized. Not a place to shop if you only need a few items. Give youself a couple of hours to park and then navigate the the warehouse-type of layout for milk, a loaf of bread. and maybe one or two other items. I hate shopping here. read more

Congrats on finishing the new store. Parking has gotten better, but the driving environment is still less than Texas friendly, a problem when people discover the charms of The Hill Country and the infrastructure doesn't keep up. One long time local mentioned that the Leon Springs HEB is for people who don't know how to cook, or don't care to. That's true. There is a lot that have been sliced, trimmed, marinated for the convenience of customers. My main concern is the lack of variety in certain grocery items. As long as I think ahead and call ahead, the items can be ready within 24-36 hours. read more

I normally drive 13 miles out of my way, and pass up a million HEBs, just to go to this one. And to top it off, today was Customer Appreciation Day and they really outdid themselves! As soon as I walked in, I was offered a cupcake and water...then the assorted array of delicious samples as usual. But the real kicker was OUTSIDE! An awesome acoustic band that was playing White Stripes, Foo Fighters and Eurythmics (to name a few), along with FREE Boar's Head grilled dogs, drinks, bagels, paella, and drinks!!! Someone pinch me! This H-E-B is one of the best there ever has been. I grew up in Leon Springs and I've gone to this area for 11 years now. The newer, larger version of this store is lovely and has made a lot of shopping easier. There are wonderful and kind people working in all of the departments - some in which I remember dearly! - and they always know just how to help with any problem I've ever had. Even if they can't find what I'm looking for exactly, they always have a back-up item of the same quality and it never fails. I would say that I do have to take a star but it is only because this store is extremely crowded this last year. Worse than it's ever been. To the point where I can hardly get through the aisles and shopping takes hours instead of the quick 20 minute plan I had for 8 ingredients. I feel that some self checkout aisles would really help make things go more quickly. But for the store's quality and friendliness, I totally will always love Leon Springs H-E-B the most. read more

I'm at this H-E-B all the time, especially with me working near by. The Deli area is outstanding. My coworkers and I are there on an average of 4 out of 7 days a week. The product is fresh and Fulfilling. The employees are friendly and always asking if you need help finding anything. They are always so considerate and thoughtful. I love this HEB. The parking lot is a bit on the small side and always busy because this store is awesome. People are always friendly here. Their bakery is great. We had Nicole make our son's birthday cake. We had an idea for it and she made it happen. Everyone LOVED it and it tasted great!! Lots of icing, moist cake, and filling made this cake a favorite. And, I was school shopping for my little one and was getting frustrated at Walmart because I couldn't find what we needed. When I picked up my cake, I breezed by HEB's school supplies and found items we needed so quickly that I will make this our go to for next years school shopping. I love this HEB, compared to others in the city this one, by far, the most options for organic products at the best prices. Central market which I shopped at for several months would leave me cringing every time I walked out reading my $200 plus tab but here I still get to eat healthy organic, hormone, antibiotic free foods without feeling like great pains of cost. Their meat department had me in shock. There was several, lamb, beef, pork & chicken options all without hormones, antibiotics. This is a big deal when your trying to feed your family without ingesting those additives. It's a smaller HEB but with the hill country customer service, I've grown to appreciate. They also seem attentive to long lines, opening up registers when needed. Even on a day like today, the day before Christmas Eve, I only had 1 person in front of me. I will be coming here with little need to go to Whole foods, ect. read more

Would rather go anywhere than this HEB. Things don't get in the bag that you buy, manager walks around eating in the store. They never offer carry out. Pharmacy and pharmacist is INCOMPETENT. Time for another chain to move in. I will be happy to drive to Greenfields, Sun Harvest or Whole Foods...just to not give HEB my business. read more

The improvements to this store are remarkable and very welcome. Much more spacious and better selection and presentation of specialty items in most categories. Still, I expected something more on the order of the Alon market. Not the kosher items, but rather the specialty and prepared foods. Still, the improvements are welcome. Some may wonder about the 3 star rating vice the 5 star that so many apply with reckless abandon. A 5 star store is Wegman's in Dulles or Fairfax VA. Go there and you will see what I mean. I would add a star to this if they had more selections ala Whole Foods or Central Market. Whole Foods has a bar where you can devour your deli sandwich while downing a cold glass of draft IPA. Wouldn't that be nice at HEB? C'mon HEB a...step up your game. You are across the highway from The Dominion, for Christ's sake. Don't you think people that live there might expect a higher level of service both in products and delivery? Nice job in rehab, but this store has more work to do. read more

Worst cashier checkout times ever. They take their sweet ass time. The store layout is horrible as well

I love the convenience of this store because it's close to where I live. It has a large organized produce. Bakery makes really good bread even though I can eat that much of it. Has a large health food wise usually with someone working in it that's friendly and gives good customer service. Check out lines are fast even though they may be packed. They do not have I have a very good selection of frozen vegetables and fruits. The vegetarian items are not all together and move around. The most relevant complaint is the parking. It's very difficult to find a place and when you pass the front of the store you will be stopped for pedestrians crossing. With the improvements with the streets the traffic is not so bad getting in and around but once you enter it's very unorganized and definantly needs more parking. Now it is putting in a lane for grocery pick up. Hope that doesn't make it worse. read more

HEB Pharmacy has gone down since the renovation. I have been trying to have one prescription filled for 3 weeks. DOctors staff says it is HEB fax machine. TRansferring prescriptions to new Walgreens. TOO Much frustration at HEB. read more

I went to the H-E-B café today. I wanted a Caesar salad I was told they were out of Parmesan cheese so my choices were feta or blue cheese. I asked if I could have croutons they have no croutons,this is at 5 o'clock when you would think they would be ready for the dinner crowd. I did call the manager but she seemed unconcerned. When I got home I found the lettuce on my small sandwich and the salad was wilted and not fit for eating. I have been out of town I had nothing to eat at my house or I would've just walked out and not ordered it I just wanted something healthy to eat after a long drive. There is a new Walmart and I will now go to the Walmart and I will not shop at H-E-B anymore they really are highly unconcerned about customer satisfaction. In the store they have croutons somewhere in the store they have fresh Parmesan cheese somewhere you would think that they would make that available for their café A big thumbs down I live in the neighborhood I have shop there for 12 years but I will now go to Walmart. read more
