Did you know I used to spent over $80 a week prior to covid pandemic? Of course, my grocery bills went up in recent years because of inflation. On July 29, 2023, I came to do a special shopping trip because I was hosting a brunch party. After I got home, I found one of the cantaloupes was not in my bags. I called the store and I was offered for a refund. Right before I was about to prepare salsa... I couldn't find my tomatoes and onions. OMG. I think the cashier didn't put one bag in my cart. She did exactly to the customer before me. Then, someone chased him down. But no one let me know that I left a bag behind. My solution: I won't buy more than 9 items. I have been using the self-checkout line ever since. To avoid situation like this. I have been doing major shopping at Kroger's. I would rather pay little more for better service and respect I deserve. I hate to be cheated on my hard-earned money by H‑E‑B cashiers. I have been shopping at this H-E-B for over 17 years. Pretty good location of the HEB, which is the Texas flagship grocery store, much as Whataburger is the flagship fast food. Their produce is often good, decently priced, the juices are excellent and fresh squeezed. It's like a cheaper Wegmans, if you will. This HEB is in a rough neighbourhood, ish, and has iffy service and is a little less intimate than the one near us in Montrose, but both have service issues, honestly, and this one probably less so. This store is always a five-star experience for me. I'm particular about my grocery shopping routine and visit a few stores to save money. Grocery pickup is my preferred method - I've tried it at Target, Walmart, and Kroger, but HEB is my favorite. The app is user-friendly, and I appreciate the ability to add items from the weekly ad and clip coupons. There's a fee for expedited pickup orders, but you can avoid it with some planning. I enjoy shopping in-store during less busy times like 7am. The staff is always friendly, and I'll always return to HEB. read more

Kinda early but Crawfish season has started. Not saying the best but you may like it. Bought for my grand so I haven't tried them. Spicy or Regular 6.79$ lb. 3 lbs 21$ with 5$ off on Sunday's. Have tried their wings which hits the spot when craving wings. A bit slow service with items coming out. appears to be very busy so can't be all bad. read more

I am a fan of HEB because Here, Everything is Better! heee~ This HEB located near Chinatown is somewhat different from most of the other regular HEB stores because at this location, you may be able to find more Asian veggies, and also, some items in the Produce and Seafood sections have their descriptions written in both English and Chinese! In addition, they carry a lot more "Foreign Products" as their "Foreign" aisles are obviously bigger here! Correct me if I were wrong, this HEB seems more "international" than the other HEB stores! Service is not bad since I never really expect any excellent customer service from places like HEB or Wal-Mart. The staff is usually friendly and helpful. Food items are fresh, and grocery items in great variety! What's the best?? Their snow crab legs and live lobsters on sales! *woots* The only bad thing here is the parking!! The parking lot is huge, but still, there are too many people coming to HEB, and therefore, parking is nine times out of ten difficult and frustrating. *argh* read more

Pretty disappointing iteration of HEB. Not nearly the selection that other HEB stores have and to bring up a point that others have as well, I don't think management at this store really cares. Piss poor wine and beer selection, virtually out of their named coffee, and some of the veggies I saw out for display looked rotten. Went here for the first time today. Was Impressed with the shelves everything was stocked IJ except Clorox wipes ( not surprising) given covid. Social distancing measure implemented , hand sanitizer was everywhere with easy access. Lunch meat wait was minimal about 3 mins. The store wasn't packed and was very clean . Salmon burgers and salmon was reasonably priced. Beef was expensive so didn't buy it . Chicken thighs was very cheap as well. The market is upstairs with easy access. read more

I needed temporary duck food (4-lb bag of cracked corn, ok in small amounts in cold temperatures) in a pinch and found it here. While their selection of wild bird food is neither as extensive nor as organized as the Sugar Land HEB, it was still more than adequate. 15-lb bags of Texas oranges and grapefruit were $6.68 or $6.99 (which is more than at Welcome supermarket) so I wouldn't buy fruit here. The fruit was bigger, though. Pros: - Huge HEB - Cutest HEB due to the two white domes in the front - Ethnically-diverse clientele - Tortilla-making area with conveyor belt and bags of hot tortillas of different flavors - Clean - Bananas are only $0.39 / lb while it's usually $0.48 / lb at all the other HEBs I go to Cons: - Located in a busy intersection (Beltway 8 and Beechnut) - Driving onto the street from the parking lot may require descending slowly at an angle to avoid a bumpy ride read more

You know, I can admit it. I've never really enjoyed the supermarket. But, alas, just this weekend I realized, "Em, you haven't been grocery shopping in a freakin' month. You need to eat, skinny man." So, I hopped in the car and went down to the H.E.B. down from my j.o.b. after work and started what I thought was going to be the horrendous task of filling my cart with food. Actually, it was the exact opposite. I had a blast. I am a huge kid at heart, and easily distracted. So, right when you first walk in, just past the produce, they have this huge machine that makes tortillas. I was amazed. I stood there for a bit , watching fresh tortillas roll outta this machine. Then I realized I was the only adult standing there watching this happen so I moved on. Gotta grow up sometimes.. The isles are bright and big. You know, a pet peeve of mine is small isles in the grocery store. You know, when you have your cart on the side, and you're standing there looking, and someone with another cart comes by, so you have to scoot your cart all the way over, and stand flat against the wall just so they can get by? Yea well that didn't happen in H.E.B. They actually had wide isles. Which was nice. They also had what I swear is a scavenger hunt/coupon set up. For instance, I wanted natural peanut butter. So, I picked up skippy natural. Well, if you buy skippy natural, you get 2lbs of free bananas (which is good for weight training/gaining) so I had to run to produce. It was like this over and over with these little yellow coupons. Buy this, get 4 of these free. Then you had to hunt down the free items on these little yellow coupons before the buzzer. Ok there was no buzzer, but oh in my mind there was. Buy Oscar Mayer lunch meat, get free bread and cheese. So there I am, running all over the store getting these things off of these little yellow coupons like my life depended on it. Over all, I filled my cart up completely, for $35. Seriously. And, I had a blast doing it. In all seriousness, the store is an organized chaos. There are all kinds of folks shopping here. There's a massage studio (the p.g. kind), a bank, a bakery, a hair salon, etc. The prices are reasonable. They even show you the prices at other stores. Overall, they somehow managed to take a mundane task like grocery shopping, and made it into something I actually kind of enjoyed. That alone is worth 5 stars. read more

I like H-E-B, more specifically, this H-E-B because it reminds me of a Mexican supermarket (if you've been in Bodega Aurrera in Mexico you know what I'm talking about). Vegetables and fruit always seem fresh (except poblano peppers, those bad boys are always rotten!), everything is usually fine, nothing out of the extraordinary. However, I have one big issue and at times it makes me sad, once I approach the dairy section I remember the times I've bought their store brand lactose free milk and how it has tasted like plastic! It has been a number of occasions where the milk tastes funny, the first time I thought the milk had gone bad but I've purchased milk from OTHER locations and it has that same nasty taste. I don't know what it is. It's either their provider or the plant, who knows! I just wished they changed that... Oh, they also have crawfish on Sundays, personally I hate the smell of it, I think it smells like sewer water. That's really not an issue, I just avoid going on Sundays, just warning here in case you don't like that type of smell... Last, waiting in line here is less stressful than WALMART where there 23,484 lines and only 4 cashiers. read more

This is not my favorite HEB, although it is my preference for grocery shopping in the area. It's pretty huge, has a sizable and not overpriced produce zone, and relatively quick service on Saturday mornings. It can get hectic here at night like any other grocery store. The downside for me is the lack of selection for baked goods. read more

This is my go-to Grocery store especially since it's so close to where I live. I frequent here at least once a week...maybe more. Lately it has been taking me longer than usual to find what I need because they just recently revamped the store and moved a lot of things around. The prices here are quite affordable and reasonable. Most of the cashiers I dealt with were very friendly and I like how they have a manager up front watching the lanes and making sure people go through swiftly. if they see the lines are getting too long they have no problem opening up more lanes unlike that other store up the Beltway (insert sarcasm). Every time I get ready to leave out though, there is this Asian lady that's always soliciting Green Mountain Energy. I cant even tell you how many times I than told her No. She has been there for years and I have never seen anyone signing up for that service. HEB is starting to have a lot of soliciters around their store. On another note, Its now Crawfish season! they sell boiled crawfish Fri-Sun in the front of the store for about 4.99 l/b!!! This is always the highlight of my visit and the perfect way to end my shopping trip. read more

I don't live in this neighborhood so I'm not a regular but if you're looking for dinner options, ask for D! He was friendly, knowledgeable and had some serious "persuasive-o mojo" going on. And he didn't come off officious at all! My friend and I came in for tired, old packaged sushi and walked out with fresh salmon, garlic butter, rice and scampi sauce (basically a WHOLE darn new meal!)... If his managers are reading this, he's a keeper & deserves a raise/ promotion! This is a place I frequent becasue I stay right down the street. They always have good deals on fruits and vegetables but they need to either check their registers or something because sometimes when their is a sale on a item it doesn't ring up as a sell and this has happened to me on three occassions...I caught it the last time and stopped the lady from rining up anything else.. otherwise it is a ok store..the bakery made cakes for me several times and they were good...but make sure you pick them up before 7pm because you will have to get someone to help you find a person to help you... read more

HEB varies quite a lot depending on the location and clientele. This HEB serves a larger Hispanic population and it is evident in the foods they carry. They have a lot more fresh Mexican breads, seafood, and delicious desserts (like rice puddings). There will be a limited 'gourmet' fancy cheese section, but in lieu have really good oaxaca cheese, etc. This place feels very much like a fiesta. read more

First off I love H-E-B and I'm a big fan and loyal customer but, I wonder if the person that wrote the good review that the place was remodeled and deserves some recognition must work here.This place is ghetto, first impression right? The parking lot is trashed, carts and litter everywhere this is what I expect from a crappy Walmart, H-E-B and the store management should be ashamed of themselves, the store front is cluttered with some sort of ridiculous food stands, I go in the place reeks of rotten fish, selection is poor, and if that is remodeling U seriously got to be kidding yourself. This is almost as crappy as the one on Westheimer. Bring it up to H-E-B standards. As for another reviewer that was comparing it to fiesta, let me tell you my local fiesta is much cleaner, I would never take any of my out of town visitors to this H-E-B location. The fiesta of the HEB's to me. Because of the area and patrons, many of the items here cater to Asian and Hispanic populations. So if you like cooking these types of food, you will find many more options here. They also tend to be anywhere from 10-20% cheaper in their products than many other HEBs. It is why my mom started shopping there to begin with, and why I started going there from time to time. The parking and wait for check-out can be bad during peak times, but other than that, you can find some good deals and things you wouldn't find at a standard HEB here. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service and unprofessional. The manager there does not listen or consider anything you have to say. The "nightcrew" labeling products does not label things correctly and expects the customers to pay for their mistakes! Best Example of Bait & Switch. On 4/14/17 this store had a a Weekend Seafood Special with a stall outside. There was a small sign stating the price of crawfish and below it Dungeness Crab for $5.99/lbs. No mention or price for Snow Crabs. I asked for crabs and at the register it was $13.99/lbs. I pointed the sign to the clerk and she stated it was for Dungeness crabs and I had Snow crabs. AND they didn't have Dungeness Crabs. Again, no sign stating Snow Crabs or it's price, otherwise I would specified I wanted Dungeness crabs. This is the 2nd time this store has switched prices on me. This is the largest HEB I've been in.... it's akin to an oversized Fiesta... even down to the little shop inside selling faux gold waches and phone cards...Typical fare... cheap veggies and better goods than your overpriced Randall's down the road... but what makes this HEB stand apart from the rest is it's international foods section.... I love that i can get Jamaican foods there, or Asian foods, and especially Latin foods, with over 27 types and brands of tortillas (sorry folks no non-GMO options... i guess they haven't heard the news about that...stick to Whole Foods if u want alldat.... ) but while this isn't my HEB of choice, it works for the times i want Curry Chicken, or Jerk Steak where i can find coconut milk without hassle and get it on the grill in a pinch. read more

Slowest HEB in Texas. We waited in express lane forever. The cashier just got up and left. Who does that?

Right down the street from me so pretty convenient. I try to go at night due to the traffic between beechnut street and sam houston parkway so it can get pretty crowded on the streets between. It can really make you choose between going to heb and the viet hoa that is across the street. The store has a nice selection but the waits can be pretty long at night since it has no self checkouts like other HEB's and not many lines are usually open. read more

Buying crawfish here was a big mistake. They have different prices for small, "large," and "jumbo." The large and jumbo were far from what was advertised. The seafood guy even agreed that it wasn't as they said it was but he kept saying "you can't find crawfish anywhere else man and that's just what they give us and tell us to sell it for." We have bought crawfish numerous times from River Park location and have never had this issue. They have ONE price for the sac and another for loose. There was no choosing sizes and what not. I can say that the sizes we have gotten there were a lot more pleasing than the "jumbo" we bought here for 3.49/lb. They were also extremely DIRTY and smelt like the sewer. I would never come back to this location again. Not worth the money or time. read more
