H Mart is my go-to grocery in Chinatown. While it's definitely not as Korean as the one in Spring Branch, they still have your pre-marinated bulgogi/meats and kimchi section + have a ton of Korean and Asian snacks, sauces, etc. There's also a lonely Chinese deli in the back near the fresh kimbap, onigiris, fried fish too. The fruit quality is usually okay if you can parse through everything. There's usually a lot of bruised apples and some potato that's on its way to the grave, but I'm generally happy with the produce. The precut fruit area is super convenient too! The meat area has tons of shabu meats to choose from as well as parts you may not find as easily at usual American grocers. Chicken feet, rabbit, goat hooves-- go wild~ The seafood section has packed sashimi as well as a poke bar as well. The sashimi has been pretty good the few times I've had it. You can find salmon heads, fish collars, etc. here too for your recipes! I like perusing through the frozen section-- lots of fun finds like trending desserts (fruit shaped ice cream right now), dumplings/buns, Asian street food snacks. Overall, this Hmart is a convenient place to shop when I'm in the area or need to stock up for a recipe. Happy it's here! read more

Lots of fresh food and vegetables hot bar was unimpressive , and surprisingly, not as full as I thought it would be for the weekend and they were pretty busy the meats hanging the cooked barbecues look like they were pretty good. I just didn't like the way the buffet food looked so I skipped it and took one star off for that. It was cheap but just not pretty.lol I notice one thing is the seasonings here for different things can be cheaper than at a regular grocery store. It really just depends on what you're buying what you're looking for. I also grabbed some new fruits that I've never tried before pink pineapple for the win. The store is very clean and the cashiers are always nice. i like how it I don't know what I'm really looking for I can go to the service desk and get help. Holy moly, every Hmart in Houston is so huge! This one is without a doubt the most Asian/Korean Hmart of the bunch. Even the cashiers are very FOB. What I like about this Hmart is that it has a big selection of packaged fridge/frozen Korean stews and noodles, which let's me stock up for when I'm feeling homesick and don't want to go out to a restaurant to eat. Has almost everything and even the newest viral stuff. They have a whole section dedicated to noodles and snacks(my favorite aisle). They have vegetables, fruits, sliced meats, and premade foods as well. Freezer sections are packed with frozen dishes like dumplings. Houston's H-Mart is the nicest H-mart I've ever been in!! So clean and aesthetic. JUST LOOK AT THOSE SIGNS!!! Super clean and well stocked. Plenty of fresh produce for reasonable prices. The frozen food selection is also very impressive--you can even see the range of Korean pancakes they offer (they have a designated banner for it which is insane). The cashiers ring things up so slowly causing the lines to be very long. They aren't friendly and don't even smile when they see you. The cashier was ringing my groceries up so slow, I didn't even think she was going to bag them. When she did bag them, she pretended as if the bag was contagious because she barely put the groceries in them. The aisles are small, but the baskets are huge. So there's often traffic jams when waiting on slow shoppers to move out of the way. Now the selection is there, but the prices aren't displayed properly. There's stockers and inventory often on the floor again blocking the aisles making them so congested and small with the huge baskets. I don't see why they can't stock outside of regular business hours. Also, I must mention that the prices are sky high. Almost everything has .99 after it and it just doesn't make sense why stuff gotta be this high. Sometimes, not even the stockers know the price of something when it is incorrectly placed. I need to know the price of something before I buy it. I swear. Luckily, the tofu is cheap, but the pandan soy milk is jacked up in pricing. The russet potatoes are huge and cheap. I've often found the vegetables selection to be not up to par because why do I find moldy Kirby cucumbers? They need to be pulled off the floor. The produce section is completely chaotic; people walking every which way and stand in your way then look at you thinking about what you gonna do, but you looking at them wondering why they in my way. So much people at one grocery store, when I counted more than one grocery store on Bellaire Blvd. I very seldom come out this way and when I do I pick up this delicious chili sauce that I discovered the last time I was here (4 months ago), but when I do come through I make sure it's early to avoid the rush of people. What I do like is the variety of sauces, tofu, and soy milk. That's why I come here. read more

This place is amazing. The ground beef or pork are great quality and price. Produce is wonderful. Fish, fresh and reasonable prices. Dairy, eggs etc. are very pricey. Skip that here. Service is always trying to help even if language is a barrier. The store is way too small for the amount of customers, for one thing. Do not come here for the fruit. A large portion of their fruit is overripe or a month past its best by date. You have to be vigilant about checking best by dates at this location, or you risk buying products not at their freshest. Their selection of fish is quite expansive, but some are packed with that white liquid that, when heated, prevents the fish from browning at all. So if the H Mart on Blalock Rd is closer to you, I'd just stick with that one. read more

For an H-Mart, I find the selection and size here to be quite good and the overall display quality and decor to be good as well. The produce, meats, and other food is quite fresh with lots of selection, though the prices seem to be a bit higher (but not unreasonable). I do appreciate the enormous dry goods, drink, snack, and frozen food selection here which is great for travelers like myself who might not be looking to create a home cooked meal. With that said though, the meat and produce options here are amazing compared to many of the Asian supermarkets in Chicago. This place has so much, it could easily be my sole supermarket source for everything I need. Checkout here is pretty quick even when busy, and there isn't a lot of food options inside -- probably due to being nearby plenty of restaurants and shops just outside H-Mart (in many other spots in the US, Hmart is the center of the Asian shopping experience). read more

This is one of the three Hmarts in the Greater Houston area, and although it is not as big and the food court is not as amazing as the one compared to the Hmart on Blalock, they still have all the Asian essentials you need. This one is the closest to my apartment, and has a great selection of reasonably thin cut meats for making shabu/hot pot at home. There are a lot of noodle and ramen options, and there is also a Tours le Jours inside along with a skincare shop (Aritaum) and kpop shop. Overall, I mostly come here to get thinly cut meats and noodles for shabu at home. However, I do notice that the prices of the produce and some of the items, such as snacks or ramen, tend to be on the higher end compared to other Asian shops nearby. read more

I loved my shopping experience at H Mart. They always have the best finds! I was so excited to finally get my hands on the viral mango ice cream from here. It tastes just as amazing as everyone says! H Mart is my go-to spot for unique snacks, fresh groceries, and all the fun trending treats. They have also some great makeup and skincare products here. The cashiers are very kind and the ambiance is like your standard grocery store. I really liked this HMart off Bellaire. Much different from the ones in Northern VA. I liked that it has more Chinese ingredients. The reason why I gave this place 4, though id give it 3.5 - truly was because their special on rambutan looked super fresh, and red, however it was not sweet and almost rancid tasting. What a let down! Another reason, they didn't have yellow/orange sweet potatoes, so I could make che ba ba. All in all, I do like their location, it is mostly clean and not dirty. I've only ever been to the Hmart in Katy, but this one has a good selection as well. It's a bit smaller which is nice, but also seems a bit older. Great fruit/veggie selection and seafood ! Parking: There's a huge lot so plenty of parking ! That being said, there was a lot of traffic entering the parking lot- to be fair it was midday on Saturday. Shopping: Like I mentioned - the fruits & veggies area is great! Everything is fresh and there's a lot of options. The seafood section is pretty expansive as well. The other rows though seem a bit limited compared to other Hmarts and several aisles are just overpriced housewares. Checkout: There's several checkout lanes and when we were there the lines went back into the aisles, but they did move quickly despite that. Also the checkout is so close to the front entry it creates a bottleneck at the doors so it was pretty crowded leaving. Other things: There's a small shop at the front that has skincare and such. I love this Korean supermarket! It's super clean! Tons of options available! There's a small bakery in the front. Everyone is super nice. I love the ready to eat section! I love my Kim chi, fish cakes and squid salad. But what really tops the cake is the little bbq shop located in the far left side of the store (if you are standing outside looking in ). Best roasted duck I had in a long time so far in Houston Chinatown area. This store is huge! I love that it is clean and items are well-organized. I was able to find what I was looking for pretty quickly. There was a lady preparing samples of their galbi short-ribs. Of course, Chris and I had to try. It was very good! We took home some hot rib-eye bulgogi, kimchi and seaweed salad. To be honest, it was one of the better H Mart cafeteria food experiences I have had in a while. Though it is just cafeteria food, I love going to H Mart for a quick lunch with my friends. Ordering was kind of confusion, as you have to go in between the two registers to order and pay. The ambiance was more like a cafeteria. It isn't like an aesthetic little shop at all, it's not particularly cute eating in the back of a grocery store, but it's authentic, fresh, and flavorful! I was so happy to find that this H Mart did not skimp out on the side dishes and beef despite the overall price point being much lower than expected. The broth was flavorful and delicious! Given all the different international grocery stores along Bellaire, H-Mart has done a fairly good job at providing quality imported Korean products in a supermarket setting. Some things I've noticed: * The store is bright and clean. While this might not be a big deal to some, just compare it to the grimy and dated stores that surround most of Bellaire. Even the bathrooms are on point. * While the produce is solid, the seafood selection is where it's at. There is a lot of fresh catches available and at prices that are on par with major grocers in the area like HEB. * Like other H-Marts, there is a Tour Les Jours (#2) available. Of course there is. And it's super pricey. * Spanish, Mandarin, and Korean are spoken by a number of staff. If that's not diversity at work, I don't know what is. * The soju selection is pretty limited. I realize it's not a liquor store, but given the obscure location of drinks in their produce section, it's probably one of the more disappointing aspects of the store. * Lines are a common theme here. Perhaps the cashiers are slow, or they're understaffed. Large H Mart located in Houston's Chinatown, serving a variety of fresh and frozen Asian food. It is very spacious inside, and the first thing I noticed was how uncrowded it was. There is a very large parking lot outside with plenty of space, and plenty of working carts easily accessible (two things that are a problem at SoCal locations). They have a great selection of seafood taking advantage of Houston's location (with minimal seafood smell permeating throughout the store). It also had a poke bar (which I've rarely seen in grocery stores outside of Hawaii). It has a very small food court (basically one restaurant serving Korean classics) and one non-food shop. read more

Korean grocery stores are so unique and always fun to visit! I've dropped by a couple of times to grab ingredients not found in the usual chain groceries (oyster sauce, gochujang paste, mirin, boba ice cream, face masks, radishes for kimbap etc). Depending on the season, some things will be more expensive than others but good deals are easy to spot as well on the sales ad. The items here aren't just Korean but more like a Korean + international Asian store. Very clean and welcoming! The bakery they have (Tous le jours) looks and smells amazing. I'm always tempted to peek by and get something despite needing to be on a low carb diet. ‍ The pastries are always too pretty to pass up honestly so muster up your will power haha! read more

Love going to H Mart! The family always stop by here anytime we go out for dim sum in Bellaire. They offer a variety of vegetables, seafood, meats alcohol at a decent price. This store offers varieties of Korean goods. They have everything you can think of such as Korean noodles, snacks, drinks, desserts, fruits, vegetables etc. There's also lots of meats & seafood to pick from as well. In addition, they have a bakery right in front of the store, a pharmacy next to the cash register & a small restaurant close to the seafood area. There are a few things that I don't like, the aisles are so small & if there's a lot of people in that specific aisle it can get chaotic. One other thing is when I came here tonight, it was extremely busy which wasn't the problem, the problem had to do with it being only one cashier, so the line was long. Finally, they opened the second one after I reached to the front; I'm glad someone was thinking. The cashier who checked me out wasn't nice at all, I'm not asking you to have a conversation with me because I understand it's busy but it only takes .5 seconds to just say "hello". After she bagged my stuff & handed my receipt, there was no "bye" or "thank you" or anything. My advice to her is work on your customer service skills because it sucked. I usually love coming to H Mart for Asian snacks and groceries, but I was really let down this time. I came specifically looking for onigiri--something that should be a staple at a place like this--but there were none in sight. I checked the deli section, the sushi area, even asked a worker, and still no luck. For a store that prides itself on offering authentic Asian options, it's frustrating that something as simple and popular as onigiri isn't available. Food options are amazing, so many varieties of BULDAK, although some items are always sold out in the app. The store is huge, with their own food market with fresh ready to eat snacks. Service is quick and employees are helpful. Ambiance is also good but can get a little overstimulating because of the loud music. read more

H Mart on Bellaire - my family and I will soon stop coming to this supermarket. One reason only - my family almost got hurt using one of the ugliest and worn-out-and-rusty shopping carts in United States!! H Mart is supposed to have higher standards than regular Asian supermarkets. However, the management of H Mart is absolutely doing a horrible job at maintaining the the upkeep of shopping carts. I have seen people not able to "pull" one cart out of the stacked shopping carts (because they are the rusty and "stuck" together) and decided to go elsewhere to do grocery shopping. It's crazy that you ONLY see ugly, old and rusty shopping carts at the Bellaire H Mart but not at other H Mart locations (eg the original Blalock location or the Katy store). I am not the only one who hates Bellaire's rusty and yucky shopping carts. Many of friends have stopping going to H Mart on Bellaire as they don't want to touch those rusty shopping carrts (see the pictures taken during the first week of 2024). I am going to make a complaint to the headquarters of H Mart by showing them the crazy old shopping carts at the Bellaire location that might get people injured with tetanus due to skin cuts with the rust on the shopping carts!! We were staying nearby, and randomly drove past Hmart. There is one near Dallas, so we decided to check this one out. Pretty much the same. The little food courts in back were kinda cool. But when we were there, they were not open. Great selection of produce, meats and sea foods. Especially sea foods. I can always find something new I want to try. This time it was something not very Asian, but apparently loved by Asians. SPAM! I had never seen so many flavors. Some I never heard of (Tocino). I ended up buying a couple cans of all the flavors.
