This HEB is our closest, best option for in town grocery shopping. It's kinda on again/off again as far as a pleasant experience. Employees can either be super friendly and helpful, or supremely indifferent, never know which you'll get. Keep watch while they ring up your groceries, some of them are quite happy to double charge until you call them on it! Our standing "special order", that we've had for YEARS is going through another dry spell of not getting filled. Two weeks running, and only explanation is "a new guy in charge of ordering, I don't know what's going on". We're back into the zone of the special order just not getting filled. Frustrating. They are doing another major facelift inside, so stuff is again being moved around, and several areas blocked off. Hopefully improvements. read more

Very disappointed with this H-E-B in Belton. I have had multiple issues involving the same employee, Dominique. A few months ago, I was struck by a large cart she was pushing, and there was no apology or follow-up discipline that I was made aware of. Last week, she bumped into me while I was walking and then claimed I had hit her. I reported both incidents to management. The first time I was told it would be handled, but nothing changed. The second time I spoke with another manager and again explained that this was a repeated issue. I was told it would be taken care of. I also received a call from upper management assuring me the matter was being taken seriously and that it would be handled properly, but it was not resolved. Last night, I saw the same employee at checkout. She smirked at me as if nothing had happened and appeared to be working at the front of the store in a lead role. This reflects a serious lack of accountability and follow-through. While I generally enjoy shopping at H-E-B and most employees are great, based on this experience I will be spending my money at Walmart, where I have never had issues with employees. read more

I don't have a H.E.B where I live so when I come to Belton I love getting to shop at H.E.B. We are having Tamales for dinner and they have really great ones! I really like the pork Tamales! Friends of the Belton Public Library in Belton, Texas, had their Book & Author Luncheon Saturday, February 28. The caterer that we had engaged had a tragic fire with severe building damage Friday night before our event. About 7:00 Saturday morning we were able to reach the Belton HEB deli manager, Jazz. He and his crew pulled from thin air to provide us with cheese and meat tray snacks for each of our tables, and sliders served to the tables. We served lunch to 240 people at 11:00. They created a miracle for us. With their help, the event was seamless and our hospitality was undamaged. We are forever grateful to HEB and their amazing employees. read more

I finally got to check out an HEB! Many regions have a grocery store that people cannot speak highly enough about (and they do it often, for good reason). Think of Publix, Wegman's, etc. Our major midrange store in the Chicago area is either Jewel or Mariano's. I've never liked Jewel, and Mariano's has gone downhill quickly since its acquisition by Kroger. So while I like to grocery shop, I always remind myself that Mariano's is quite inconsistent in quality. I had high hopes for HEB and was overall impressed. The sheer variety here is magnificent, and as an out of state visitor, I was shocked by so much (in a good way). You can truly find whatever you need here. There is a massive seafood selection, including sushi. The one negative is that, given the variety, not everything is a hit. The prepared foods are good, but some are disappointments. The sushi seems to have 10 plus varieties, but they are all quite similar, with maybe the difference between two similar rolls being an addition of one type of sauce. With such a sushi variety, they could stand to branch out more. My shrimp roll was OK, but I had to get through globs and globs of sauce, so that was a bit unappetizing. The balance of ingredients was super weird...just wayyyy too much sauce on it! In this cavernous, well-priced environment, you'll also notice that most of the staff is cheerful and happy to help. This was great to see and experience. They seem to enjoy their job, from what I can tell, and it's fun talking to them. read more

I've always loved this store but they've changed the layout and the signs don't match the products in the aisle. No way to find some items unless you ask an employee who are very hard to locate. They tell us that this will continue changing every until July. For some customers like my 87 year old mother this is extremely difficult. Come on HEB you're supposed to be the hold standard!! I see absolutely zero improvement. They seem to just want to put certain non selling items towards the front of the store so you have to see them. NOT convenient. Bad service read more

Vegetables are usually nice and fresh with a lot to choose from. Their selection of canned and dried products is plentiful as well.

Prices astronomical 3X what they used to be. Produce used to be the most expensive thing we bought. Now it's Daily staples. No company needs to make that much money. Even Walmart has some cheaper prices even if they don't have a selection, but, then H-E-B doesn't have much of a selection either. They should try Rouses in Louisiana as a model. read more

Outstanding simple ready to cook single meals. Giant flower market with very helpful folks. We'll stock and clean place to shop.

This is an excellent place to purchase food. Good prices and well stocked. The best time to come here is Sunday mornings before eight am. Almost no one in the store. I would say that their employees do not know how to wear masks. They wear them on their chin or below their nose. Clearly management does not enforce this and it is a shame as with COVID we must be wearing masks to protect others. read more

Their store brand products are often better than name brand, and they always have great deals. Love the variety and all the small ready-to-go meals they have. Consistent service. Definitely better than Temple. Curbside hardly ever messes up. Knocking off one star because HEB is not allowing customers to choose their own brand on certain essential items for curbside pickup. With the premium markup plus personal shopper fee HEB charges it's consumers I would expect a more premium service. we requested a certain kind of deli ham and the item that they gave us was actually packed two days before my order was put in which means they're not giving fresh product like they should. shopping is always good as usual, however at the bakery today (02/21/2024) at the belton location I grabbed a lemon filled doughnut cuz I love those things, however after purchasing it and biting into it, it had virtually no filling whatsoever, it was merely a solid doughnut with a little spritz of lemon filling to give it the illusion of being lemon filled (I have photos), overall extremely disappointed by this. read more

For the longest time, this HEB has been my favorite one in the centex area. But the last 5-6 times I've been there it seems to have faltered a bit. Small complaints: The last three times I purchased the regular pre-cooked fried shrimp, it's tasted soooooo much like the coconut fried shrimp that I couldn't eat it. If you don't know, they sell both - regular and coconut. Obviously they are cooking them in the same oil or pan or something, as the regular tastes pretty much exactly like the coconut. This sucks if you hate coconut fried shrimp. Why is it impossible to buy a carton of Strawberries that you don't have to immediately throw away 30% of it as soon as you get home? Maybe ya'll need another strawberry distributor. My biggest complaint are the staff. LIke I said, this store use to have the friendliest staff of all the HEB in the area. Not so much anymore. Today, I'm in the meat section, cart beside the cooler as I'm picking out my meats. The meat guy comes out with his cart and cuts me off and stops right in front of me. We make eye contact and I assume he'll stop and wait a couple seconds for me to pass by. Nope, he moves directly in front of me and stops. Forcing me to move my cart four feet to the side and go around him and then move back to the cooler. If I'd been about to grab a piece of meat from that specific spot, he literally would have blocked me off of it. 100 out of 100 times, the WORKER should never block off or cut off the customer and make them move. I was a little shocked. We made eye contact, so it's not like he did it accidently. I said "Oh, I guess I'll skip this section and go around you" and he just said "yup." The people who do the curbside orders are also really bad at this. They almost never move or give right away to customers. It's really odd that they operate like they are the most important thing in the store and the customers need to get the hell out of their way. Lol, you probably think I care too much about this type of thing. But I've been shopping at HEB my entire life and as an adult, one of the thing that really separated them from a place like Walmart, was in how polite and respectful their workers were. In Walmart, a worker will cut you off and not even say sorry or excuse me. But at HEB, they'd always stop and wait for the customer to go first, and they'd always say excuse me or "you go first, ma'am".......but the last few months they've really gone away from that level of TOP NOTCH service. It's been happening for a couple years at the 31 street store. But I chalked that up to it being so busy and in Temple. But now that lack of customer respect has filtered down to the Belton location. That sucks, as they use to be soooooo impressive with the customer service. It is disappointing their customer service level is falling down to the level of Walmart and other stores. Visited this location twice in the past week. First visit was uneventful, got my 3 items, self check out, and done. Second visit, very disappointing! It was late, but within the last hour of being open, so not like I was there AT closing. Had 2 items and walked up to a full service lane with 3 ladies talking. One was a customer with a full basket of bagged groceries. She was talking with an older lady, I assumed a manager or trainer for the young lady at the register. Who btw was spending her time writing on the conveyor belt with a pen. I smiled at said young lady as I placed my items on the belt to be rung up. Zero response from young lady, no smile, no 'be right with you', nothing but a teenage scowl as if I was bothering her. Which drives me nuts with teens of today, as if employers should be grateful she showed up today! So I wait...older lady still talking to other customer, she looks at me, looks away and continues talking with customer before me. Zero response from her as well, no smile, nod, or acknowledgement that I exist. Now I've been in line for a few minutes, long enough to overhear the conversation with other customer....they're discussing escrow and what it is. Best part....the young lady feels free to ask questions! Still no movement towards assisting me and now I'm getting angry! Neither employee recognized my existence, neither employee took my presence as a sign to continue working or move the previous customer along. Just shootin' the shit. I grabbed my items and went to self check out and left. Neither employee apologized or even MOVED when I took my items to self checkout. I won't be back! Usually you can count on HEB to be high caliber all the time. But this visit and the 2 employees 'working' were enough for me to take my business elsewhere. Very poor customer service! read more

As if I needed another reason to love my H-E-B! They are out of the regular unleaded so they are basically giving away the premium grade. And I absolutely appreciate it bc I'm driving my Man's beautiful Dodge Charger which only takes premium and this bad boy is thirsty!! Drank 15 gallons without taking a breath. And the bill...a cool $35 instead of the $50/$60+ it normally cost to fill er up! H-E-B consistently looks out for others at their own expense. Now that's love! read more

Best. Store.ever. Love the H-E-B in Belton. Just a tip weekends are pretty slammed so go early. Fabulous produce, fresh fish and their meat is delicious. Tenderloin is buttery and cuts with a fork. We buy ham off the bone weekly at the deli case and it is so tasty and lean! The sell Bollios near the deli case and those make the best sandwiches ever. read more
