Located right off highway 190, Walker Honey Farm boasts a gift shop, Dancing Bee Winery, and plenty of parking space. The outdoor area is cute, with covered seating (seating is available indoors as well), pretty landscaping, and even a silly bee cutout for photo opportunities. You can also camp, take a tour, they have honey and/or wine clubs, and occasionally host a trivia night. For a store dedicated to honey, I was surprised to find theirs so large! They offer truffles, caramels, and other treats, plus their own wine, mead, root beer, and snacks with which to enjoy them. Additionally, bath and body products, candles, a variety of gifts, and apparel. As far as honey goes, it takes up a hefty section, and you can sample probably twenty types. Some are theirs, some are harvested elsewhere. I snagged a big bottle of Huajillo, a variety exclusive to Southern Texas, made from an acacia related shrub (which is actually Guajillo, so not sure about the spelling of that honey!). It was mild, and truly tasted buttery - so, so delicious. Whatever kind of honey you fall in love with, you have the option of many sizes, and a few are even available in bulk to fill your own container. Along with standard honey, they have the creamed form, honeycomb, wax, and bee pollen. Prices are average. My sister mentioned the employees on her first visit to Walker were quite brusque, and attributed it to arriving shortly before the day's closure. Sadly, though we stopped by early afternoon, our experience was mirrored as I too found them unfriendly. They did not greet us, instead watching our movements with hawk eyes, never a pleasant experience when shopping. There was a sense that they expected customers to be very serious, and our excited (but never nearing boisterous!) group offended them. I thought it was a mirage. Winery in Rogers, TX? I decided to try it out......approaching it like any other roadside curiosity; snake farms, world's largest ball of yarn, buried Cadillacs. I wasn't disappointed at the weirdity. Basic business premise is to mix honey with anything, and it must be good! Um, sorry guys, but not for me. Plus the wine you're using is quit horrible without honey; The mixture is horrible sweet wine. Tasting does not offer heated Mulled wine, the only way it is potentially drinkable. Why? Full disclosure, I've never been to the store. I've purchased several gallons of honey from them as well as several friends. They carry excellent honey. As a mead maker, I try to get the best quality ingredinets possible. Walker honey is exceptionally good. Bright Orange Blossom Honey characters and nice and rich notes from their Buckwheat Honey. But this review is for something else. When I purchased online several gallons of honey, UPS charged me an "X" amount. I didn't seem too distraught over it. Low and behold I received an email stating that UPS charged too much when they shipped my order. I didn't ask for a shipping quote. They just did it and refunded a portion of the shipping charges. Its really hard to find honest quality customer service. Even more when your not expecting it. For reasons like this, its an easy decision to continue buying honey from Walker. read more

Walker Honey Farm is a family owned business that started in 1930 with 150 bee hives. The farm store and winery (meadery) are delightful to visit. You can say hi to some of the bees inside the store. The store has a wide variety of bee related goods. They have many different flavors of honey to choose from. You can sample the honey for free inside. The honey is unprocessed and raw. If you bring your own container, you can fill it up with some of their more popular flavors from the casks in the back. On the other side of the store is the tasting area for the Dancing Bee winery. There is a pizza truck outside that serves up wood fired pizza (find the schedule online). They also have a great farmers market 2x a year. read more

I cannot remember where I bought their peanut butter and hones, walker farms, but pretty sure it was Boggy Creek Farms. I am blind and a friend took me there. When I opened it it smelled rancid. I could not eat it. I emailed the company and they told me there was an expiration date on the jar which I could not find and could not find after they told me where it was. They said once it left them, they were not responsible for the product and I would have to take it up with where I bought it. So I will have a friend drive me that distance to the farm to replace it. Maybe they don't sell that much and it was on the shelf too long and rotted. Any I paid $9.00 for this honey and everything about the product and service of the company has been unpleasant, a nightmare. So there. read more

The 3 generational family bee-keeping farm started decades ago has been expanded to include a vineyard. They have honey on tap!! You can bring your own clean container (must be qt size or larger) and select from several types. The staff fill it for you and you get awesome honey at amazing prices. The store has a vast array of honey products as well as gift items. At their wine bar you can order to sip and sit there or taste a few samples to decide what to buy to take home. What a GREAT, GREAT Central Texas Business! I have personally come to the Walker Honey Farm 3 different times, all for special group occasions. The whole staff has always treated us like royalty! I was amazed this past October 15th to see the parking lot crawling with individuals and groups brought in by the surrounding towns to experience the down-home feeling indicative of fine Central Texas folks like the Walkers and their superior staff. My college buddies and I have met there all three times and just had a blast! Their participation in Harvest Host is great as well, as we have used that part of the business two of the three trips. I have not visited the farm itself, but had the pleasure of trying their products at the annual Texas Mead Fest (if you haven't been, do check it out!). I picked up some honey turkey jerky, which was a bit peppery for me and I wish had been sweeter, and also some tangerine spreadable honey. It had a good flavor, but I was not creative enough to find enough purposes for it; I think next time I would get plain. I also purchased a cute bottle of their Dancing Bee Winery Texas Two Step pyment (part grape wine, part honey mead) and enjoyed samples of other mead. I'll have to visit the farm sometime and give the jerky another try, but I do recommend the mead! read more

The Walker Honey Farm is a store & wine bar outside of Roger's, TX. There is an actual bee farm at this location, and sometimes tours are available of both the honey and mead making process. The bees are viewable inside of the store, so you won't leave without seeing some bees. Now the real, real, reason to come out here is for the mead. The glorious drink of the gods, honey wine, and some of the most awarded in Texas comes from Walker's.
