    A typical Saturday morning.

Contrary to what the Yelp Listing says, as of May 7, 2021 this market is back up and running - and it's a good one! While there are a few duplicate booths (multiple places selling salsa, jerky, and pecans), this market is very pleasant and has a great variety. Of special mention is a food truck that sells lobster rolls and a tea stand run by a gentleman who's been working in the tea growing industry for 40 years! Well worth your time to visit - just enter the Wolf Ranch Shopping Center off 29/35 and look for the massive cluster of Easy-Up Booths!

Smaller than anticipated! Add more vendors, please :)…read more I like that it opens at 10 since we always take a while to get the kids ready in the morning so we usually miss the eggs. Speaking of eggs, ample egg vendors. Found 3 at different price points ($6, $7, $9). Unfortunately, the $6 eggs were some of the worst I've ever purchased at a farmer's market (flavorless, barely yellow yolk). Other than that, they had bread, some produce, beef jerky, sweet treats, and some other miscellaneous vendors. Oh and Tong's Dumpling Bar is a star attraction. It's in a large strip mall so parking is easy. That mall also features one of my personal favorites -- JuiceLand -- so it's an excuse to grab a smoothie!

There are about 15 vendors selling food, jewelry, soaps and eggs. Unlike the name applies I did not see any fruits and vegetables. It is quite ironic that Austin farmer's markets in general have very few fruits and vegetables, if any. In Washington state farmer's markets had a huge variety of organic fruits and vegetables (miss Washington state.) A standout vendor was one that was selling handmade cutting boards. I may go back to purchase a cutting board. Yesterday, I had only cash and not enough to purchase the cutting board. I did get a cookie that was a cross between a cookie and biscotti. Very different than anything I have eaten... Interesting little diversion for the day. All the folks at the farmer's market were friendly and very open to sharing samples. The farmer's market had few customers. It was almost like walking through a ghost town....quiet environment.

This time we stopped by the market for a single slice on the way to Dallas. The price for a slice seemed a bit steep (2-3x what you'd expect to pay in a city like Montreal or NYC) but we figured there must have been a good reason for the price to be so high. And there was indeed.. Behold! We opened the box and found a texas-sized pizza slice as big as big as a personal pizza! I was taken aback and wondered if I would be able to finish all that (I did, not sure how, but when there is a will, there is a way...) It turns out that these slices were the best 600 Degrees pizza we've ever had. They were super fresh, cheesy and tasty, the crust was thin and delicious, almost reminiscent of sourdough. It outshined everything we've ever tasted there before, which was good already. This experience leaves me with all sorts of questions like, are these as big as yo face pizza slices baked in a different oven than the regular pizzas? Or did the chef just have an excellent day that day? Either way, we were very happy. We'll have to try their slices again and see if it's a new standard of excellence that's permanent or if it was a magical, one-time fluke. See you again soon, 600 Degrees Marketplace! We'll be back.

Towards the front of the parking lot, they have spaces for people who don't have time to shop and they get a shopper to do their shopping using the Sprouts App. I've done that before, it's quite handy. One can select all their wanted groceries in the Sprouts app, and then come and park in the very close parking space with signage and they bring you out your groceries. It's a nice option. On the day I went here. I entered the store and did my own shopping, however, and I'm so very glad I did! I eat very healthy and I have a very limited diet but when I shop at Sprouts, I can get wonderful food from every aisle because they provide very healthy food. I always seem to find something new! Today I found these wonderful crackers that fit all my dietary needs, I bought four! They have all their holiday foods on display and easy to find. I got a beautiful organic turkey today. Another thing I really love about the store is they have fresh, ready-made food, it only needs to be warmed up. They also have rotisserie chicken without any seasoning on it that I absolutely love. I get one every time I visit the store. I also get my husband some ready-made food -- so when I shop at Sprouts I'm also going out to lunch! That's a win-win. They have sushi that my son brags about. They have some beautiful plants in front of the store, always well taken care of and ready to buy. I will continue to patronage sprouts and I highly suggest you do too!

I rate this place a 3 because there is some work to be done to get this market ramped up and really stocked with goodies. I visited during the weekly Saturday 9 am to 1 pm hours to find a small handful of vendors. There were several arts and crafts stands, a masseuse, and a couple of jelly/preserves sellers. There were a few produce vendors, but selection was pretty limited. I did get some nice locally grown squash. I'm not sure how much the limited selection had to do with the horrific summer we've had or if it was the newness of the market. My favorite vendor was Richardson Farms. They were offering free range eggs, chicken, pork products (including fresh uncured bacon), and grass fed beef. The eggs and pork we bought were reasonably priced and freaking delicious. This isn't yet a major farmer's market, so some visitors might be a bit disappointed with the selection. It is my hope that this one will pick up momentum and draw more shoppers and vendors.

There was only about 9 vendors there but there was enough stuff to make a few meals all around. Fresh baked breads and organic pastas, fresh veggies such as squash, maters, taters, and onions, jellies, salsas, farm raised meats, and even cupcakes for dessert! Not to mention some jewelry, honey and pralines. Living out in the hinterlands of Cedar Park, I was super stoked to find out about this (thanks Chris S!). I haven't found any CSA's to deliver to my house, but I can now order from some of these folks online and then pick up on Saturdays here. And it beats the hell outta getting up early Saturdays and driving all the way to San Antonio (aka Sunset Valley). Richardson Farms provides grass fed beef and pork and chicken, and another stall had what's called "design your dine" with pre-frozen fresh organic dinners that you just thaw out and cook and they say each one is only about 500 calories. Came home with some zukes, some pasta, a coupla pork chops and some fanfreakintasticly fresh pico de gallo from Kala's Kuisine, which apparently has won 2 years in a row now at the Hot Sauce Festival (and I can see why). I would encourage all my fellow Northerners to check this out.....but I still wanna keep it my own private farmers market. Enigma.
