I visited this H&M for a return. Other than having a long wait in line (behind 2 people, WTH) the return process was quick and easy. Otherwise, I was reminded why I don't shop at H&M. It's like a slightly more mature Forever 21 as far as age and style of clothes, and the sheer amount of things everywhere. The store is overwhelming, just way too much all over the place. This location is just ok for me. The store is usually a bit disorganized and messy, but I always happen to find something. Some of the clothes are overpriced for the quality. The lines tend to be somewhat long. A few days ago I was in the store and when I went to the register to pay for my few items, the employees were just chatting amongst themselves. If I could give you a negative I would. Mothers be warned! You are NOT ALLOWED TO GO INTO THE FITTING ROOM WITH YOUR SMALL CHILDREN! I was told numerous times by little kids who are employed there I can not stand in the fitting room to help my son. Nor could I stand out of the fitting room to help him. I was told to be down the hall where he can not even see me. As I stood there, a whole family of 4 walked right out of the fitting room. Employees did not hassle the family that they couldn't have more than one person in the fitting room at a time but yet me and another mom couldn't be near them. I just let it go and casually walked away after. After the incident I was having a conversation with my husband about the incident and the employee came up to us in the middle of our conversation to antagonize us and said "that's not what happened" and continued to call out the manager for assistance. Which was no help because if he allowed an entire family in one fitting room why not a mother and a small child. The manager couldn't explain to us why they could be but we couldn't? And proceeded to kick us out. Please H&M get better employees and stop hiring these disrespectful kids. Train your managers better at handling upset mothers as customers. read more

The only thing l dread is that the lines can get really long and, for some reason, they don't open up additonal registers. Please be aware there are no signs posted throughout the store that say "NO TRY ON'S!" I never went towards the dressing room to see any posted signs. As I stood in front of a mirror like a few other people in the store I tried on a shirt. A guy (Greg) came from behind with no greetings, very direct in his approach and assertive said "you can't try on cloths in the store." My response was "okay, I'm purchasing the shirt and leaving anyway." He came up from behind a little bit closer as I took the shirt off and said "you better not try on nothing else in the store, get loud or make a scene. I will have you escorted out and barred from H & M. I looked him in the eye and said that's not called for I'll called the police myself. Greg, then said other remarks as I approach the register to make my purchase. I never said anything else to him. I then ask the cashier (Nazha the cashier) what was his name and she said "I don't know. You would have to ask him, I said to her so you don't know who you work with on the daily. Blank stare and ignored my question, she completed the purchase with no proper response. I proceed to call customer service and they called the store to have someone come talk to me about the situation as I waited. I was disrespected by your selected management (the other Greg) for no reason. There is where I met Greg Burnette. He informed me he can write a dispute and wait for the store manager (Thomas) to talk with him about the incident because they (Greg and Greg B.) are equals in management. I don't do DISRESPECT because I never cussed him, raised my voice or sassed him in conversation. This behavior is not appropriate representation, to excessive, intimidating, tone and delivery was unnecessary to convey one message. H&M sells terrible low quality clothing at high prices. Beware when purchasing their cheap clothing if you decide to return items without a price tag. I purchased costume jewelry for my daughter. We decided not to keep the item. We did not retain the paper tag. However, we did have the receipt. The store manager would not issue a refund without the paper tag because that made it "un-sellable". Excuse me! But the item was in original condition! The paper tag is not the merchandise. The Columbia, MD store manager (who was absolutely rude) said they would return the item with the ripped paper tag. THAT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!!! read more

I visited this wretched location yesterday and was so overwhelmed that I left the store empty-handed. I gave one star solely because the store presented a large variety of products, but the tight store was on the brink of being outrageously overstocked! Anyone who works in Retail or Merchandising knows that an overstocked store can easily turn into a messy one, and that is exactly what happened. Clothes were on the floor, piled high on top of displays, and packed so tight on the racks that you'd injure yourself by just trying to get a view of an item before removing it from the rack. Not to mention there were way too many racks and displays that got in the way of shoppers. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the huge spinning racks. They are large enough for 4-5 shoppers to sift through items at once... do they really think that all shoppers attending one rack will look through items at the same pace? I remember standing at a rack to compare two different shirts and it suddenly started spinning. I looked across and another shopper began to have at it! When she noticed I was there, she apologized, but it wasn't her fault. I would definitely suggest that they hire more workers to keep the store tamed at all times, but then again, I'd worry about overcrowding the store even more. read more

I love going to H&M. They have a wide variety fashion clothing at reasonable prices. I have bought suits and ties here for business meetings. They always have in new merchandise in store weekly. This is the worst H&M experience I've ever had! I've always been in love with H&M and was excited at first that I moved in an area where this H&M store is only 20 minutes drive from my new place. However, in only a matter of one month, I've had two incredibly poor experiences there: 1- I was checking out kids blazers in the kids section when all of a sudden I saw blood coming out of my finger! one of the blazers had needles in its sleeve. Apparently a store associate had taken it off of a mannequin and decided to put it on a hanger WITH THE NEEDLES ON! Of course I was terrified by the idea that this needle may have poked a dozen ppl before me! God knows what infection it may have carried!! They gave me a disinfectant wipe and a casual apology. When I asked for an incident report they wrote one but refused to give me a copy. 2- I bought a pair of half boots size 8.5 (i usually wear 9 but these looked pretty big) because their shoes are always tied together it's impossible to try them on and actually walk in them in store so I took them home and wore them to work the next day. Halfway from my car to my office on campus I realized that the shoes are too big so that day I returned them in their bag with their receipt. A week later I took them back to the store and guess what?! They wouldn't exchange them for a smaller size!!! Their excuse?! They look worn!!! After spending about 30 minutes trying to find where they moved similar shoes to (there was absolutely no one I could ask.. I couldn't find a single associate) when I finally found the smaller pair, the cashier was EXTREMELY RUDE! She was like: "Well if they were too big why did you wear them?" I told her I only wore them ONCE! She brought her manager and the manager wasn't any nicer. She said they look worn so we're not taking them. Bottom line is: if you have access to another H&M store, DO NOT SHOP AT THE ONE IN COLUMBIA! It sucks! read more

I bought two pair of pants from the Columbia mall h&m in mwrch 2013. I tried the pants on in the store, liked the fit. I left the pants in the bag until 04-18-2013. I decided to wear the pants while at work the pants ripped right on my right butt cheek. Yes at work of all places. I called the store spoke to kevin he said to bring the pants with the original receipt. I went to the store today and the manager basically said since I had them on there is nothing they can do. I called customer service and was told the same thing. This was the first time I ever shopped in h&m and will be the last. The quality of their materials is not worh the money. The clothes are cute put if you wear the clothes and since the material is cheap tg e clothes wont last for a full day. I would have been better off going to second hand store and would of had better quality clothes and better customer service. Please dont waste your money @h&m.
