Our Samsung electric dryer suddenly stopped heating. It would still turn on and tumble, but…read moreproduced no heat at all. With a family of six, going without a dryer wasn't an option. I called Bold & Short, and Vitalii was at our house about an hour and a half later. He diagnosed a failed heating element and had the dryer fixed and running in under an hour. The total came to $382, including parts, labor, and tax. That's very reasonable given how quickly it was done. He also took the time to answer our questions about whether to repair or replace, and gave us a straightforward, no-pressure take on heat pump dryers versus standard electric. He could easily have steered us toward a bigger job, but he didn't. Fast response, quick repair, fair price, and honest advice. We'll definitely call them again and would recommend them to anyone in the area.

This company is the worst! I would highly recommend using anyone else! They tell you there's a $75…read morediagnostic service fee which is fine and seems standard and it is applied to any work you have them do, what I was not told until they showed up is that they have a flat fee for any fixes that starts at $270. So basically I was already on the hook for the diagnostic and I could either have that deducted from the $270 or pay them the diagnostic and go hire someone else again to diagnose and fix the issue. In my case there was some excess lint in the machine that fit on a paper towel.. it took less than 10 minutes. So I spent $270 to have some lint removed which felt like a rip off but I thought oh well at least it's fixed. Then they said only cash or check, I wanted to use a card so annoying but whatever, I wrote them a check and about a month later they said it didn't go through, I reached out to my bank, no reason it wouldn't go through, but now I have a bill and an extra $35 returned check fee. On top of all this they called me excessively asking for me to post a review, I would assume most reviews are due to that not because people are blown away by the service and feel compelled to share but more so because they don't leave you alone about it.

I first contacted Appliance Hospital on August 7, and the work was finally completed on August 31 after three rescheduled appointments because the bulbs had not arrived. The Saturday morning before the final appointment, I received another text saying the Monday appointment could not be confirmed, so I had to call Monday morning to get it confirmed. Trying to resolve the billing issue has been equally frustrating. I have spent close to an hour on the phone, spoken with at least four different people, and called during the appointment only to be told that there were 15 callers ahead of me. On August 31, I requested both a written receipt and a review of the $338 bulb charge. I have received neither a receipt nor a return call. I have no complaints about John, the technician, who was professional. My complaint is with Appliance Hospital's pricing, communication, scheduling, and lack of follow-through. I made repeated attempts to resolve this directly with the company before posting this review.
