Falafel Sandwich
Kevin N.

Greek Mediterranean food will always be a bane of mine. I can't resist checking out the local availability when given the chance to do so. First time in Milwaukee seems to be as good an opportunity to do so as any. ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: N/A/10 Ordered delivery. SERVICE : 7/10 Delivery was very quick and came right up to my door. My only complaint is there were no utensils or napkins in the bag. FOOD: 8/10 I ordered the falafel sandwich and gyro sandwich. First off, the portion size is kind of absurd. You get a ton of bang for your buck here. I think each was $7 and for what I got here, this would easily be $10-12 in Chicago or New York. Immediate plus. Falafel Sandwich - The falafel in the sandwich was really good especially with the Tzatziki sauce. Good blend of veggies and pita bread was soft. No complaints here. Gyro Sandwich - The mix of lamb beef meat in the gyros here was very good and complemented well with the Tzatziki sauce. This lets me happily say if I were in Milwaukee I wouldn't have to worry about getting my Greek fix. PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 8/10 If I was in Milwaukee again and looking for Greek food, I'll know where to go. TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: If you're a Greek lover like me, definite must stop. OVERALL: 8/10

Can't miss it.

I have seen this place pop up on yelp from time to time but I'm confident that it will not knock off my fav, Oakland Gyros because no one has but I'm always open to new places. The place is in a strip mall on 27th St by Honey dipped donuts with plenty of parking. Here we go, the place is empty with only me so now I have absolutely no idea of what to expect and it might not be good. The place is bright and clean looking with a Greek looking decor, simple but it gets the point across. The place has plenty of blue comfy booths, blue walls with Greek looking art. There is a soda machine with a drink fridge on the other wall for take out drinks and a desert cooler with some nice looking treats. The menu is all over the place from salads to fish fry plates but I'm there for the bread and butter, the gyro sandwich. The people seem nice enough and my tray was ready in no time and like the commercial, the top of my head blew off as i walked to my table. Was I in the Twilight Zone and was that a whole bottle of the tzatziki sauce on my tray, YES it was and I could have as much as I wanted, super fuck#%g cool. Visually the gyro sandwich looked good and and perfectly placed on the pita, no sloppy put together sandwich here. It's not the biggest gyro but not the smallest and in that just right, eat a third of the meat before it can actually be folded over and eaten like a sandwich. I liked the thin sliced whole tomatoes vs the chunky fat ones by the way. As I like to do before any masking sauces go on I want to taste the meat by it self first. The gyro meat was tasty with a hint of garlic which I really liked flavor wise so I took a few more naked bites and yah it's tasty, I like it. The gyro meat was moist/tender/fresh not the over cooked/crisped crap they forgot about on the strand that some place give you. One thing I also noticed was that it's not the greasy/messy kind of gyro meat that you sometimes get. The tzatziki sauce was average and no chunks in it that I like but it was applied on my terms because I had the whole bottle to work with. The pita was fresh and had that little chewyness pull to it, yes I have to make up words sometimes to describe some foods. The tomatoes and onions were fresh and the onion was not the gyro for lunch and still in your mouth six hours later onion on my visit. Overall it didn't dethrone my favorite gyro place but it's not bad at all to my surprise and probably equally good in its own different ways so I would definitely stop back for a gyro and a little more of the menu for sure and I was pleasantly surprised in the end, nice job.

As yet untouched

I used to go here often (twice a month), then the manager cooked my food for me one time and everything was way overcooked, dry and even burned. It's been probably 6 months since then. I called Oakland Gyros (my go to place since getting such poorly prepared food last time), but Oakland is closed for remodeling. I thought that I'd give Guro27 a try again. The Lamb Shank I got was very sparse with meat and the rice was a third that I would get at oakland Gyros. I will NEVER go to Gyro27 ever again. I will drive further and out of my way instead of here.

Food was full of flavor and a lot off food for the price!! Nice location and friendly atmosphere!

The gyro was just okay. They forgot my drink which happens. I ordered the chicken tenders and there was weird dark chunks in it. The fries were inedible they were hard and tasted like they were sitting out for hours. I was so hungry and really disappointed and grossed out. I do not recommend eating here. It wasn't cheap either.

this is just sad

Great food and fast delivery! Quality of food great too think they could make better fries but the cheese curds make you replace that!

The cold station had a great variety of hummus and dips served with pita bread--my son loved it so much he ate thirteen pieces of pita! I'm usually not a big fan of raw oysters, but they looked so fresh that I decided to try them... and I couldn't stop eating them. They also had traditional Easter red eggs and egg salad, which was a nice touch. The hot food selection was very impressive as well, including freshly carved prime rib and ham, roasted lamb leg, and sausages. There were also breakfast favorites like French toast and scrambled eggs. Desserts were excellent too--cakes, fresh fruits, and yogurt rounded out the meal perfectly. The setting is just as lovely--the restaurant has an outdoor patio that would be especially enjoyable in the summer, with a great view of the city skyline. It's also a perfect spot for photos. On top of all that, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a perfect dining experience and a memorable Easter celebration.

We also ordered chicken souvlaki- a little chewy but seasoned nicely. Portion sizes were excellent.

The café has plenty of tables and a little bar area, and lots of Greek décor and videos to transport you to Greece. The servers were very attentive and pleasant. We ordered the Keftedes for an appetizer, they were so delicious! Well seasoned and the perfect crispy shell with soft pita bread. We also ordered the Zeus and the Lemon Baked Salmon. The Zeus was well seasoned and included lamb, pork, and beef in a pita. The Lemon Baked Salmon was a little to lemony for my taste but still good, I just wish I had something to cut the lemon flavor a little bit. Overall, the food and drinks were good, and would be back to try more. I did find the prices a little high for some items, including the drinks, some more worth it than others.

The menu is also updated with a new items. The food is still as good as I remember! The Beef Souvlaki has always been my go-to here, so I ordered it for lunch today. The beef cubes were well-seasoned as always and the pita was soft and delicious, as well. Even the fries were good. These were well-seasoned shoe string fries, and they were perfectly fried crisp. I couldn't stop thinking about the Grilled Octopus on the menu, so I ordered it, too, and asked chef to slice it for me. It was tender and served in olive oil with warm and soft pita. Sooooo good! A 6-top reservation came in while I was there. Yes, they accept reservations, which I believe you can book through their website. I've been coming here for years and seen different family members behind the counter or in the kitchen over the years, which adds to the charm of a small, family-owned business, and also shows I've aged. If you haven't been here, or haven't been here in a while, come check them out! a little more upscale in appearance with a casual vibe.

Another amazing hotel restaurant?…read more Listen. I know this is typically kind of an anomaly. I travel a lot and can attest many, many hotel restaurants are pretty ho-hum. But, I do think that Milwaukee may just be the exception here. And, certainly Tre Rivali, located inside the Journeyman Hotel, is absolutely the exception. Chic and modern with a menu that intrigues and cocktails that delight, I have had many wonderful experiences here. Their meat and cheese boards are epic and well priced. I've ordered and quite enjoyed their scallops that come served with truffled parsnip cream, brown butter, hazelnut, brussels sprout leaves. Divine. It's not a hearty dish, though, so if you tend toward a hearty appetite, I'd recommend a starter of some kind. Or, perhaps dessert? Their cocktails are all well made and they have a firm grasp on the classics (they make a mean classic old fashioned and Manhattan). The service is always lovely. Get to it!

I had a bagel and lox spread, which was large enough for 2 people (order an extra bagel, but there's enough extras on the board to go a long way). I liked that the cream cheese alrady had chives and dill in it. I took a baklava cheesecake slice to go- one of the most creative cheesecakes that I've ever had. Lots of pistachio, honey, and philo made this a unique and delicious treat. Tre Rivali is one of the better hotel-restaurants that I've been to!

Once we decided on what we would like to order, we headed to the kiosk at the front and ordered, then waited for our food to arrive at the table. Our server was very sweet and helped answer any questions we had about the paper menu vs the online menu. The restaurant was decorated nicely and simple. We ordered the appetizer platter; which allowed us to choose three apps two try. My friend and I chose the falafel, grape leaves, and baba ghonush (which is served with 8 triangle pieces of pita bread). I got the kofte special wrap and my friend got the beef kebab wrap. Everything we got was amazing! The wrap was also nicely toasted on the outside, which gave it such an amazing texture. The combination of the char-grilled kofta with the vegetables inside was so good! Just thinking of it makes me want to go and grab another one. It was not dry and was honestly pretty filling. I liked that they kept the holidays lights. Also the colors on walls enhance the Mediterranean experience. Tip: The business has its own app and a rewards program, as well.
