Greek Mediterranean food will always be a bane of mine. I can't resist checking out the local availability when given the chance to do so. My only complaint is there were no utensils or napkins in the bag. FOOD: 8/10 I ordered the falafel sandwich and gyro sandwich. First off, the portion size is kind of absurd. You get a ton of bang for your buck here. I think each was $7 and for what I got here, this would easily be $10-12 in Chicago or New York. Immediate plus. Falafel Sandwich - The falafel in the sandwich was really good especially with the Tzatziki sauce. Good blend of veggies and pita bread was soft. No complaints here. Gyro Sandwich - The mix of lamb beef meat in the gyros here was very good and complemented well with the Tzatziki sauce. This lets me happily say if I were in Milwaukee I wouldn't have to worry about getting my Greek fix. I have seen this place pop up on yelp from time to time but I'm confident that it will not knock off my fav, Oakland Gyros because no one has but I'm always open to new places. The place is in a strip mall on 27th St by Honey dipped donuts with plenty of parking. Here we go, the place is empty with only me so now I have absolutely no idea of what to expect and it might not be good. The place is bright and clean looking with a Greek looking decor, simple but it gets the point across. The place has plenty of blue comfy booths, blue walls with Greek looking art. There is a soda machine with a drink fridge on the other wall for take out drinks and a desert cooler with some nice looking treats. The menu is all over the place from salads to fish fry plates but I'm there for the bread and butter, the gyro sandwich. The people seem nice enough and my tray was ready in no time and like the commercial, the top of my head blew off as i walked to my table. Was I in the Twilight Zone and was that a whole bottle of the tzatziki sauce on my tray, YES it was and I could have as much as I wanted, super fuck#%g cool. Visually the gyro sandwich looked good and and perfectly placed on the pita, no sloppy put together sandwich here. It's not the biggest gyro but not the smallest and in that just right, eat a third of the meat before it can actually be folded over and eaten like a sandwich. I liked the thin sliced whole tomatoes vs the chunky fat ones by the way. As I like to do before any masking sauces go on I want to taste the meat by it self first. The gyro meat was tasty with a hint of garlic which I really liked flavor wise so I took a few more naked bites and yah it's tasty, I like it. The gyro meat was moist/tender/fresh not the over cooked/crisped crap they forgot about on the strand that some place give you. One thing I also noticed was that it's not the greasy/messy kind of gyro meat that you sometimes get. The tzatziki sauce was average and no chunks in it that I like but it was applied on my terms because I had the whole bottle to work with. The pita was fresh and had that little chewyness pull to it, yes I have to make up words sometimes to describe some foods. The tomatoes and onions were fresh and the onion was not the gyro for lunch and still in your mouth six hours later onion on my visit. Overall it didn't dethrone my favorite gyro place but it's not bad at all to my surprise and probably equally good in its own different ways so I would definitely stop back for a gyro and a little more of the menu for sure and I was pleasantly surprised in the end, nice job. read more

I used to go here often (twice a month), then the manager cooked my food for me one time and everything was way overcooked, dry and even burned. It's been probably 6 months since then. I called Oakland Gyros (my go to place since getting such poorly prepared food last time), but Oakland is closed for remodeling. I thought that I'd give Guro27 a try again. The Lamb Shank I got was very sparse with meat and the rice was a third that I would get at oakland Gyros. I will NEVER go to Gyro27 ever again. I will drive further and out of my way instead of here. read more

Gone down hill significantly since the ownership has changed hands. They no longer put the food on a plate or separate box, and serve a flaming hot gyro on top of an ice cold salad. Logically speaking one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. Let's ruin all of the food before it arrives. All of this to save 5 cents? gave me a disgusting gyro that had obvioudsly been sitting there for a day! They should be making them fresh when its ordered. I ordered it without onions too and told me that is what I was getting but what I got was an old gyro that already had the onions and tomatoes sitting on there gross. disgusting A few years back they were shut down for being unsanitary. they opened back up with a new name and its just as disgusting. there was a broken booth there and garbage everywhere on the tables as the workers sat in a booth talking instead of cleaning the mess???? read more

There's a new Gyro Sheriff in town, and it's got some super authentic food. Meaning, a lot of homemade Greek food versus prepackaged Greek food, which is also OKAY by me. However, I had the Gyro meat here, and it tastes really good, not too salty, full of flavors and lots of it for the sandwich. The pita is light, soft, and crispy on the outside, doesn't get soggy like some other pita breads. Fries were fresh and good and the Tzatziki sauce actually had cucumbers in it, like it should! The owner is the coolest guy ever! We talked about Greece and food for about 20 mins and told me much about his restaurant and background. He was very hospitable and professional. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and the Homemade Baklava is AMAZING! You must get that before leaving the place. read more

The gyro was just okay. They forgot my drink which happens. I ordered the chicken tenders and there was weird dark chunks in it. The fries were inedible they were hard and tasted like they were sitting out for hours. I was so hungry and really disappointed and grossed out. I do not recommend eating here. Yesterday I had my first experience with Gyro27, but it will not be my last! What a wonderful guy! Not sure if it was the owner or a manager, but the gentleman behind the counter as I walked in to pick up my "to go" order was as pleasant as they come. When, as he was ringing me up, I looked to the side of the counter and requested that he add a piece of baklava to my order, he simply said, "No worries. I got that for you," and threw it in my order for free. And then I got home and ate my meal! Awesome! Excellent seasoning on the meat and the Greek salad was just right. This is one sorry excuse of Greek fries if you ask me. Ever since this place changed ownership, the product has just gone down. I used to LOVE their fries! They were thick and they were always crispy. These are thin and not even cooked all the way! They are also not topped the same either. It used to have feta and oregano and other seasonings. These are topped with grated parmesan and whatever orange seasoning they got here. I won't be back after this visit. read more

As I was waiting for my to-go order, a couple came in and asked if the gyros were as good as the last place. I am here to say they are definitely good! My husband had the gyro and said it was fantastic. I had a Greek salad and French fries and think they were BETTER than the last place in this location. Salad and toppings were much fresher and I liked the salad dressing more. Fries were also crispy and fresh! Definitely an experience I want to have again. Nice people running the restaurant. Bad food bad customer service. Ordered the "beef gyro" dinner and the "greek fried shrimp" dinner. The beef gyro was ok. It was made with chunks of steak, but the steak was overdone. Honestly, now that I've tried it, I think a steak gyro is just a bad idea. The "greek fried shrimp" was pretty unimpressive too. Despite being given to you in a pita like a gyro ready to eat, the tails aren't peeled off, and again, the whole thing isn't a very good idea. All of the fries were soggy because they were basically just thrown into the pita mix. They could have easily been wrapped in tin foil or a baking sheet, but no such care was given. Driver forgot 2-liter of soda. I called the store and was told by who I assume was the manager that the soda would be sent right away. I called again 30 minutes later and the same person answered and told me they were busy so they didn't send the soda. They said they could credit me for a 2-liter next time. I won't be ordering from here again, so I told them to send the soda when it's less busy, and they said they'd send it out in 30 more minutes. I said fine, and I should mention I was patient and polite during this whole ordeal. I get the impression they chose to give me bad service because I tipped the change, but there is already a $5 delivery fee, which I feel is already more than an adequate surcharge on a meal under $25. read more

I ordered the appetizer combo and sandwich combo. Ate the fried appetizers in the car on the way home and they where pretty good, as long as they were hot. I got to the sandwich and found the chicken and beef to be rather mildly seasoned, but I like it that way. Unfortunately they were rather dry. The lamb was OK. The beef was tough and chewy, filled with gristle and absolutely inedible. I ended up spitting out every single piece which is what prompted me to post. The gyros here are pretty good. Not Oakland Gyros good, but a decent second. The service however, is awful. We ordered online, paid extra for extra feta and cucumber sauce. When our order was delivered, the items we paid extra for weren't in the bags. We called and the manager sounded incredibly inconvenienced, argued with us, and told us that "nobody here is admitting to forgetting your stuff, so it must be in the bag." It wasn't. After arguing with the manager for a while longer, checking and assuring him the feta and sauce weren't hiding under our fries, he grudgingly agreed to have the driver come back with the items we paid extra for. Staying in Milwaukee for Graduation so of course take out is a must. We came across these takeout menus and went with Gyro 27 we got two Gyros and a philly stk sandwiches. My mom said it was the best philly she ever had. Our Gyros were so good and full of meat. The food was so good I had to call them while eating and tell them it was so good. We ordered from here about a month ago, and it was really good. Delivery took a little while, but that happens sometimes when a smaller restaurant is busy. Food was fresh, tons of meat, brought lots of tzatziki sauce and feta. I ordered rice and they brought me fries instead, but they were good. Overall, we were impressed with the quality of the gyro meat and were eager to order again. That was then.... ...this is now. We spent close to $50 on two gyros, a sampler platter (for $10), and a quesadilla. Again, delivery time was long, but we understood. We got our food, and the portion sizes were noticeably smaller. The gyro meat was not fresh, the sampler platter was primarily curly fries and the whole thing was greasy and just not good. We again ordered extra tzatziki, and received none. I don't know about you, but I can't eat my gyro without that sauce. We called back because we were charged for the extra sauces, were put on hold for 5 minutes, and spent another 10 minutes trying to speak with the manager while he asked what must have been every employee there if they put sauce in the bag, basically saying "well no one here is taking responsibility so you must have gotten the sauce." He even make me look under all of the meat as I'm telling him "THERE IS NO SAUCE." I didn't want anything free, I just wanted the damn sauce so I could eat my cold, shitty gyro. It was ridiculous: no apology, tons of attitude, and when he finally said "okay fine" and sent someone out, they brought 10 sauces - what I assume was meant to be a giant middle finger. Needless to say, we'll never again inconvenience this establishment by ordering from them. read more

Today we ordered two gyros, one with extra tomato- got home to find one with NO tomato and no extra on the other :-( Meat was generous portion but had a very burnt taste. This is basically a fast food restaurant. I got the gyro platter to go. When you get takeout everything you need should be in the bag. No napkins and no utensils in the bag. This place serves good food for a low price. a 20 gets you two gyro sandwiches and 2 desserts. This is my go to for Gyros. The Baklava is splendid. It's similar to a fast food concept. paper plates, and a tray. No glass plates or silverware. Which is fine, they have some slot machines. They let you use a bottle of tzatziki sauce for people who dine in. I prefer pita pit, but this place piles the meat on high, and pita pit is a bit stingy on the meat. SOOOOO BAD! The pita bread was doughy and tasted undercooked. The falafel was TERRIBLE. It was dry and sour. We ordered food for 4 people and all of us had to throw away almost 100% of our meals. Worst food ever. SO disappointed. Such a waste of money. Never again. read more
