Idk how this is possible but it was my first time having chilaquiles and huevos rancheros so I don't have a reference point but either way I thought they were great. The steak con huevo was the best and the avocado huarache toast con huevo ties with the French toast for second place. The only thing we weren't huge fans of were the churros but I get the feeling we were approaching our limit by the time we made it to those. I really enjoyed the size of the menu which gave plenty of options to sample just like I like, but without getting too overwhelmed. Some menus are huge and it's great but everything gets lost in the sauce. At the end we found out they have a cafe essentially making it a one stop shop between the bar, the dining area (with the open kitchen), and the coffee shop. They participate in inkind so if you like to save money when you treat yourself, get on the app!

It used to be the spot for me and my friends to grab a quick bite and everything about it was exceptional: who can say no to super affordable yet authentic street tacos served on paper plates. Sadly, it closed. Last night, I think I stumbled across a taco spot to finally take the wheel from our dearly missed El Chilango. Taqueria Al Lado is very no frills and a tiny spot, but it has tacos that make your heart sing. My friend recommended the Al Pastor so I got that with a chicken taco as well. Both were super flavorful, fatty, but really fresh and well balanced. The key here is simplicity and they do it perfectly. Each taco was about $4 or $5 if I remember correctly, so it's a great spot to grab food if you're trying to ball on a budget. We got the guac, too, which was good but not life changing; the fresh chips, however, were spot on. As far as service goes, we went on a Friday and it was super busy, but there were plenty of servers if we needed something (just had to be vocal). I will definitely be coming back!

I picked a spot and was quickly approached by one of the several servers to place my order. I ordered two tacos, rice, and a beer. The food came within ten minutes and was hot. The vegan birria taco was delicious. It was a mishmash of veggies and tasted amazing. The fish taco was good, but the vegan option was my favorite. I had hoped the rice would be seasoned, but it was just white rice. The overall restaurant vibe was very fun with loud music. It was crowded but there were still several tables available. Checkout process was easy as well. A happy little find I will be sure to come back to.

And for sure Santa Rose Taqueria definitely didn't disappoint.... Best frozen drink I ever had !!! And their fish taco's were delicious and very fulfilling ( great taste, with all the necessary toppings ) I also was in the mood for a simple bowl of black beans & rice... once again Santa Rose flavor game was totally on point. The environment there ( customer wise ) is very diverse, with a super cool vibe throughout the establishment ( they have an outside deck and a dining area up top ! ) Definitely going to be a hot spot for the summer !!!!

However, I made an exception on this trip because Santa Rosa Taqueria is a restaurant by Spike Mendelsohn, who competed on Top Chef many years ago. As a fan, I try to visit Top Chef-affiliated restaurants whenever possible. We ordered loaded shrimp nachos, an asada steak taco on a flour tortilla, and a diablo shrimp taco on a flour tortilla. We shared all three. I didn't particularly enjoy the shrimp, (it was fried) on the nachos, but everything else was delicious! Loved their green sauce and their red had a real kick. I tried one of their cranberry margaritas. O M Gee. That was the strongest margarita I have ever had. I don't really like to taste alcohol, so I only drank half and was a little tipsy when I left, but for more 'seasoned' drinkers, there's a lot of 'bang for your buck' in just one drink! I can't wait to return and sample more delicious food from the menu!

There is metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance. The restaurant has a nice patio and a decent-sized dining area. The staff was friendly enough, but I had a hard time understanding them. This place serves basic Mexican food, including tacos, burritos, bowls, nachos, chips, and salsa. You just pick your protein and toppings. They have asada, chicken, asado, carnitas, and potatoes. Some toppings include shredded cheese, guacamole, salsa, corn, onions, and lettuce. You also have to choose between brown rice, Mexican rice, black beans, and pinto beans. I ordered a chorizo burrito. It took them about 5 minutes to prepare. The burrito was huge. I must say that it was very good. Very tasty and flavorful. It could have been a bit warmer, though. After I ate my burrito, I was full.
