And I've been taking heat for my opinion about authentic Italian food but I don't care. My palate is my palate. Italian pasta is bland and not rich enough - to me. So when we found Bao Bao, I was excited. Finally some sriracha and chili oil. We got ramen and dumpling soup and soup dumplings and pork dumplings and har gao. And to be completely honest, the food was average to the standards set forth by the Chinese here in the states. But boy was it tasty to us. We came again a few nights later. The service here is fantastic. They're super nice and they even squeezed us in before a reservation that had called dibs on the table we sat at. The dining area is quaint but pretty modern. Dinner starts at 1900 hours and they accept reservations like I stated earlier. So when you get tired of the pasta, stop by and give your tummy some decent flavor.

We found ourselves intensely craving Chinese comfort food and discovered Bao Bao Dumpling in Rome--and it proved to be a highly decent and satisfying detour. Bao Bao shines brightest when it comes to its signature dumplings. The Xiao Long Bao (XLB) is very decent, providing that savory broth and satisfying wrapper texture you look for. A great feature of the restaurant is the visible preparation area; you can actually watch someone hand-making the dumplings fresh in the front window, which speaks volumes about their commitment to quality. Beyond the XLB, the Fried Bao is also a delicious and worthwhile order. It offers an excellent contrast in texture and flavor to the steamed varieties. While the dumplings were excellent, the experience was slightly less remarkable in other areas. I was craving a hot bowl of noodle soup, but I wouldn't rate their noodle soup as the best. It's serviceable, but perhaps not their specialty. If you are in Rome and need a break from traditional Italian fare, Bao Bao Dumpling is a solid, reliable choice. It serves genuinely decent Chinese food, especially the fresh dumplings, making it a highly recommended spot when that dumpling craving hits!

The staff was kind a courteous, we had our food to go, but it was packaged nicely and was exactly what one would expect from good Chinese. We had the chicken and vegetables and Insalata Misto (needed some veggies); the only hiccup is that white rice is sold separately, which usually should come with it, but honestly the bill was not expensive regardless. Recommend this place, definitely would return if back in Rome.

We ordered from here two different nights using UberEats. The food was hit or miss but the dumplings and potstickers were consistently excellent. Look for "ravioli cinese alla griglia" (grilled) and also for the steamed dumplings. For the grilled ones you get four plump ones but for the steamed ones you get like 16, wow! The corn soup was excellent, like what i would get back home in the US from a good Chinese spot. I also ordered zhajianmein which was more Sichuan style (numbing peppercorns were plentiful) than sweet northern style but I enjoyed it. The orange chicken (pollo all'arancia on the menu) was very disappointing because it didn't have orange and only had pineapple (ananas) in an odd, salty white sauce. I later ordered sweet and sour chicken which I assumed might be more like what we expected, and that was a lot better. Excellent portions and prices because you're in Italy where they don't do overly large portions. It's like half the portion for less than half the price so you can try many types of dishes. The location is very cute but I didn't get a chance to go in person.

Shocking! How was this granted a Michelin recommendation??! After reading all of the bad reviews…read morefor this restaurant I was confounded because it has a Michelin rating and we have consistently trusted Michelin worldwide for many years. So we decided to try - the worst Chinese food I've had in my life and I got my MBA in Hong Kong and am well familiar with good Chinese food. There was absolutely nothing but salt put on the vegetable chow mein dish that they served. It had no flavor at all, and the manager herself told me that it only had salt. Interestingly she said they could not use soy sauce because it was gluten-free while at the same time there was a bottle of gluten-free soy sauce on the table....Many strange things at this restaurant....the dipping sauce for the spring rolls had a very strong note of balsamic vinegar and she admitted that they use vinegar for their spring roll dipping sauce. It was acidic and horrible. 80 euros for two tasteless vegetarian dishes and a few appetizers...we left hungry and utterly shocked and disappointed....to help you navigate the truth for yourself please pay close attention to the very lengthy replies given by this establishment to all of the bad reviews. They are eager to put their own narrative for as the last word, but I can assure you with travels to 54 countries eating all over the world this is a place to AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
