As a mom, I couldn't be happier with our experience at North County Gymnastics-Poway. I currently have two girls in their 'developmental program' which is their competitive team. My girls started when they were 1 year old at the Gyminny 4S location and haven't stopped! The coaches for rec and competitive classes are kind, patient, and truly invested in each child's growth, both physically and emotionally. I love that they focus on proper technique while still making practices fun and encouraging. The gym is always clean and well organized, and I feel confident knowing my child is learning in a safe, positive environment. Seeing my children's confidence grow because of their ever developing physical abilities has been a true highlight. read more

My girls have so much fun with their friends in the classes and camps, but it's the front desk that has really made the experience different than the other places we have tried. I don't typically write reviews like this, especially being Yelp! Elite, but the public she be warned about businesses like this... We used to enjoy taking our kids here... until today. We have routinely signed up our 7 year old for summer camps, and have our 2 and 4 year old regularly come during the week / weekends. Having a 2 year old with a lot of energy is hard, as most parents can relate. There is not a ton of opportunities you can put them in at his age. But gymnastics has been beneficial for him to get his wiggles out and Coach Earl has been WONDERFUL --always been understanding, and actually understands how to coach this age group. Today we had Coach Lily. She was awful, clearly untrained to work with 2-3yr olds AND parents. She yelled at my son multiple times--and honestly belittling him for not listening to her instructions..... A 2 year old! I've never heard an instructor here say "No. Nope. No No No" in a 5 minute time frame. Clearly someone with no early developmental education and IN FRONT OF PARENTS. I was so taken aback. Where's the patience? She continues: "Yeah--That's just NOT what HE is suppose to do." I told her yes, ok well he is literally 2. Sorry he rolled over the bar instead of hanging. She continued on to sass him and make him feel bad the rest of the time we were there. UNACCEPTABLE! I even had 2 different parents approach me and tell me how rude it was she was treating my son like that. So it's not just me being hypersensitive because it's my child. Random other parents witnessed it and felt the need to approach and comfort me. I will not have my children treated like this or the possibility of this female staffer coaching/ substitute coaching any of my 3 children in the future. If this is how she speaks to my kids while I'm 1 foot away from her, imagine what she's saying to kids when we are NOT in earshot. Mind blowing! I even asked to speak with her privately and she walked away from me. Clearly immaturity at its best. I thought I was paying for high quality coaching--not just a brat with an attitude. I told the front desk what happened, how disappointed I was, and how I didn't feel comfortable continuing our membership. The girl at the desk told me that before they cancel my membership, they "wanted to talk to someone first and they'll call me right after the class"... To my surprise, 20 minute later, I got an email canceling our membership. What an absolute joke. This just confirms my overwhelming sense of lack of child emotional safety and professionalism regarding this business. Businesses' focus should be on membership retention and making things right with their customers. But the fact they cancelled my membership without the follow up they offered or trying to make things right speaks volumes. I will take my business elsewhere where they care about children's emotional safety and invest in their development. And I will definitely be outreaching with all my neighborhood families I have referred to this business about our experience. ... You've been warned (and I'm sure the owner will respond to this review). They seem pretty active on social media but not in person when customers are physically crying at the front desk about a disturbing experience at their business. You had your chance to call us like the front desk promised. But now I look forward to responding to you on Yelp! for everyone to see. read more

I have two 7 1/2 yr olds who've attended recreational classes, then later they made the Xcel Bronze team, then they finally settled with DP Level 2 the following year. After experiencing most, but not all of what Gyminny Kids Poway has to offer, my girls love it. Coach Carrie and Coach Earl are great! My girls have learned a lot from them and both coaches are willing to discuss and collaborate with you regarding your gymnast. Ronna, who is at the front desk, is always kind, patient and resourceful. In addition, it's great to see the gym promote using internal candidates, so we are lucky to have Alex managing the Poway gym. Great job and go Poway! read more

I can't begin to express how much we love Gyminny Kids! My son has tried 3 different gymnastics classes with no success (either was completely disengaged and kept running to me or crying the whole time), but it was a world of difference once we started with Coach Robert. HE IS AMAZING!! He is extremely engaging, patient, child-interest-focused, and the best role model I could imagine for my son. One of my frustrations with other kid sports facilities is finding an amazing coach but lacking admin support. This has not been the case with the Poway location- this particular facility is extremely responsive (huge shout out to Ronna and Alex who have literally responded to emails at 10pm!) and well-organized. Their main admin office is also very helpful; I had a minor issue with another location and was so impressed that Laryssa the Program Director personally handled the issue effectively and immediately. My daughter has been in the cricket class for about 6 months now and absolutely loves it (Coach Charlie is wonderful). My son has also been taking the Ninja class more recently and can't wait to go. Both of my daughters love coming to Gyminny Kids for gymnastics. The coaches are friendly and welcoming. The parent portal is very user friendly and easy to schedule up make classes. I love that you can use the make up classes for their parent's night out. When it's your child's birthday they offer a free open gym for them and 3 of their friends to join. The only thing I wished they had done better was communicate when my daughters' Coach was switching to a different time slot. We didn't receive any notification and when I asked the front desk about it before the switch happened they assured me their coach wasn't changing class times which was not the case. Other than that our experience has been very positive and my girls love coming here. read more

We attended a birthday party for a 6 year old on a weekend late afternoon. The party was scheduled from 3-430p and they stick to this time! The setup and check in was quick and easy. You sign a consent form prior to checking in which made it easy. There is a small party room and cubby holes where you can leave your shoes, jackets and water. There are no shoes or socks allowed for kids so they go barefoot but when we asked about parents, it to their parents discretion. If you have a private party, you will share the gym with other people. It was a big deal but there were lots of people in various party of the gym that made it somewhat crowded. There were lots of things for the kids to do. My kids enjoyed jumping into the foam pit and the bungee. As parents you can watch your kids and stand by them or there is a watch area with chairs. The party area sits about 20 kids and parents are standing around. You can bring in your own food which is nice. They are super strict with time, however. The food started at 4, cake at 415, and by 430 they want you out. It was a little hectic since you had to eat, sing HBD, then peace out in 30 mins. It would have been nice if the parties are at least 2 hours. Overall, the kids had fun and it was a new place to check out for a birthday party. read more

My daughter loves this place! The staff are all very friendly professional and kind. My daughter loves the variety of skills they teach them from vault to bar to flips etc I love that there is a spot inside for parents to watch the kids There's a space inside the actual gym with seats on the side as well as seats outside the practice area that allows parents to watch through the glass wall. There's plenty of gymnastic fits to purchase. Everytime my daughter sees a cute leotard on the wall she wants to take it home. They offer classes, camps and even open gyms. I love that they offered my daughter a free open gym pass for her and 3 friends to attend the month of her birthday. The facility is spacious and always clean. If the kids are in need of snacks they also have a little area to purchase snacks. I love this place and love the flexibility of class times to fit my schedule. The customer service , communication and overall classes offered are what makes me proud to return to this place. read more

Extremely rude front desk/management in general, even over the phone. I have specifically caught much attitude and condescension from a man I believe named Michael(?). He hasn't been here long anyway. Many times I have heard him and other staff members, including other front desk members, talking poorly about other coaches, children that were taking the classes, and parents alike. It's sad. Besides this, my daughter did not enjoy her time here. The classes were quite unstructured and the coaches were constantly changing, making it a quite unstable environment for building trust and confidence; especially in children. Some coaches she's loved and some she has hated. I don't believe it is worth the trouble and risk it is to bring your children into an environment like this. We have since brought our daughter to a different gym in the area and she has been loving it and feels very supported! Same coaches, every time. Everything is on time and very professional. The coaches are amazing and have a genuine passion for what they do. Do better Gyminny. read more

They don't allow parents to go on the floor with 3 YEAR OLDS and staff did nothing to make him feel welcome or included on his first day. The coach could've done anything -- simply introduced herself, offered to walk him out when he was scared, or showed kindness or support of any kind, none of which happened -- and I wouldn't have been so irritated with this experience. But to haul the whole family out of the house just to leave with a scared kid and no effort on their part was a disappointment to say the least. They're 3 years old for goodness sakes. Gyminny: y'all taking yourselves way too seriously if you're concerned about hand holding and showing kindness to 3 year olds. ** Update ** Staff reached out to me after this review and apologized, said they typically do more for first time students and this was an anomaly. However, I won't be changing my review. The fact still stands that they don't let parents on the floor with 3 year olds, but they DO for 2 year olds. The owner says it's an insurance issue, but how is that the case when you have a different policy for 2 yr olds. And when I asked in person why parents weren't allowed on the floor, I was told it was because they "didn't want to set the kids' expectation" that parents could be there for them. That's wild to me. They're 3. Gyminny: if you don't intend to change your policy, you should at the very least tell parents this before we waste our time coming in. read more

Both my son and daughter love Gyminny Kids. I recommend it to all their friend's parents. Their classes are just the right size so they get individual instruction and build their skills, all while making friends. And they love their camps too! Love that I can sign up for a single day. This has been a great place for my daughter to learn gymnastics! Coach Scott is great with young kids and mixes in having fun and being silly with teaching them age appropriate gymnastics skills. The staff is very responsive to emails and phone calls and everyone is very friendly when you are there. They have really fun themes each week for the kids and the whole gym is always decorated with that theme. They also have a playroom for younger siblings to keep them entertained. Parents are able to watch the whole class with several rows of chairs available. It's a great place to send your kids! read more

Perhaps they're going through growing pains but I wouldn't recommend this gym until things are more fine tuned, as they're inflexible and I get different information each time. There have been many disconnects. For example, My daughter was invited to their Jets A/B program and then Xcel. I've received over 5 iterations of contracts. From day one of signing up to trial the Jets A/B program and thereafter, I shared our summer travel schedule and said that we'd be out of town for the majority of July. Today, with 8 days left until the month, for the first time, Poway Manager approached me and told me that my daughter cannot do make-up classes in the Jet A/B class because I am not signing her up for August.... but can make up her classes with 8 days left in the month. There's no way we can make that happen w/ planned vacation in a few days, Jets A/B classes not offered daily, AND it's not safe for a 5 year old to take classes daily (even IF offered daily). She proceeded to say that this policy was written in the contract and I told her I had read it and none of the 5 contracts I received stated that. I asked the manager several times to show me on their contract about policy make up classes upon de-enrollment of the jets A/B and not once did she act on my request to show me. I told the Poway Manager again that since day one of signing up, Macy and other staffers thereafter told me that I could do make-up classes and never once was told that it had to be in recreational classes. She then apologizes for the miscommunication and will honor the make-up classes in August to be in the Jets A/B program. Then when I asked to speak with Krishele the Director of Operations to discuss contracts, Poway Manager's demeanor changed about honoring the miscommunication (imo not a miscommunication) and told me that Krishele will get in contact with me if she "chooses to." I felt patronized by my interaction with the Poway Manager. It was a very condescending conversation. Anyways, this policy (which again, is nowhere to be found on the contract) makes no business or logical sense. They tell you you have one month to trial it out before committing, yet they won't let you do make-up classes in Jets classes after telling them in advance of planned vacations. How can a parent / child make any informed decision if this Jets A/B program is a fit for their child if they've only been to less than 5 classes (when paid for 8 to 12 classes)? You're trying to earn a family's business, yet the child can't even give the program a full month's worth of classes a try. With this "policy" they'll easily lose business because their recruiting season is the summer and many families are on vacation, so chances are, these families won't be able to get to attend a full month of Jets A/B classes. The discrepancies I saw in the contracts were in regards to types of classes offered, the schedule, and the tuition. Even when speaking with Krishele on the phone, she had confirmed with me the final monthly tuition cost at the end of May and that cost reflected the cost for the 23-24 season, until next June when prices change again. Then when I signed up my daughter for her first trial class in July, I received yet another contract from them; however, I did not receive it until the end of class which then had a new price, higher than what was communicated to me when I spoke w/ Krishele. I didn't expect to even receive anything because I thought the one Krishele sent me was the final one! I immediately emailed Krishele about it to confirm and she did indeed apologize again and confirmed the new higher price as well as a change in Jet A/B class schedule. In conclusion, The majority of the staff there is wonderful. My daughter loves their coaches, and we love Macy (she has the hardest job!). Coaches are patient with my daughter - works with her where she's at and makes it fun. My daughter has nothing but positive things to say about her coaches; however, their administration seems to be a difficult to deal with...as you can see. Professionalism can be improved. read more

We are generally quite happy with Gyminny Kids. I have a five year old that has been attending for over a year, and a two year old that attended classes for a few months earlier this year and last year. The coaches and staff are friendly and competent, and my kids generally enjoy their time there. Why not five stars? I have a few minor gripes. My five year old has been attending classes at the same level for quite some time, and it hasn't always been clear what was required to reach the next level, or when that would happen. The main coach for my two year olds class was great, but when he was absent the substitute coach wasn't a great fit for us - she didn't have realistic expectations of what level of directions a 1.5-2 year old could follow, and wasn't as understanding of my child's specific needs as the previous coach had been. Like I said, overall we are quite happy with Gyminny Kids, our issues are very minor and probably could have benefited from more communication on our side. read more

My daughter has gone a couple times for camp there is a little who bullied her , I spoke to the manager about my concerns and they brush me off and did nothing pretty much was trying to blame the fault of my own daughter. I teach my daughter to always speak up and tell the teacher if anyone is bothering her and that's exactly what she did twice they did nothing again today the little girl was not nice to her . So this will be the last time I bring my daughter here very disappointed in the staff and how they handled everything. (Which they did not do anything). read more

I was here recently for a birthday party. The facility looked clean, and the equipment looked newish - both of which are nice to see, since they opened this location not too long ago. The staff were very helpful and appeared competent. I'm only giving them three stars through, for two reasons: 1) The parking was not good. Much like their RB location, they're located in a business park/area, and you're fighting for spots with the other folks that work nearby. The traffic flow in the parking lot left lots to be desired. 2) The viewing area for the waiting parents leaves much to be desired. It's at ground level and is fairly small. The setup at their RB location is a lot better. read more

Note: this review is specific to the compulsory team gymnastics at this location. Our daughter was on the JO team here through two seasons of competitions. Ever since the ownership changed from Poway Gymnastics, the prices increased heavily and the coaching took a nosedive. Many of the best coaches left. They forced our daughter and the rest of the level 4 girls to skip a level (to level 6) and then they had over 10 girls training with ONE coach watching them most of the time. Often times no one was watching them. Many of the girls were getting injuries which were not treated properly. The coaches were not spotting them and making sure they were building up their confidence before trying a difficult new skill. Also, there was zero communication from the coaches on the girls' progress or really anything. Terrible communication, terrible coaching, way overpriced, and lack of compassion from the owner. We are VERY glad we left and found a wonderful, supportive gym where we're also paying a fraction of the cost. read more
