I enrolled my daughter in a "Baby Ballet" class at Tutu Ballet in Rancho Bernardo based on her age…read moregroup. She is on the younger side, so I understood going in that she might not be able to fully participate in every activity. My goal was not only to help her develop motor skills, but also to give her a chance to socialize and for me to meet other moms, as we are new to the area. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the experience felt very unwelcoming. We showed up to class and no one greeted us. I introduced myself to the instructor and the group and was met with blank stares. I even asked if I could enter the gated area to participate at the start of class, and again received no response. Trying to break the ice, I made a light comment about noticing everyone had their shoes off and asked where I should place my belongings. The instructor, Clarissa, responded coldly with "no shoes allowed," without any further guidance or welcome. Once we got settled, the class itself actually had a nice structure. I appreciated the variety of activities and how it helps introduce young children to a ballet studio environment. Even though my daughter was a bit too young for some parts, I could see the potential value of the program. However, the lack of warmth and basic courtesy completely overshadowed that. I felt uncomfortable the entire time. At the end of class, I left right away because I didn't feel welcomed enough to stay and socialize with the other moms. As I was gathering my things, Clarissa approached me only to hand me a "first class" promotional flyer without any conversation, feedback, or acknowledgment. I had really hoped this would be a place where both my daughter and I could feel comfortable, build connections, and return regularly. Instead, I left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

We did notice after 2 pm more people were coming in so it was a little harder to find chairs, few bathrooms around, playground and gym looked clean. Plenty of shade too which was nice. Our experience with this organization has been among the worst we have had with any business in…read moremore than ten years. The fundamental problem is that homeowners are required to pay dues whether or not they are permitted to use the facilities. Although the young reception staff have generally been friendly, our interactions with the administrative office have often felt dismissive, inflexible, and unnecessarily rude. Even the entrance, with its locked metal gates and restrictive atmosphere, feels unwelcoming for what is supposed to be a neighborhood recreational facility. For more than a year, I have tried to resolve a dispute involving outstanding dues for invoices and notices I did not receive. Because we were not using the facility, I had no reason to know that charges were continuing to accumulate. Once I became aware of the issue, I proposed a reasonable solution: allow me to begin paying the current dues while we worked out a fair arrangement for the disputed past balance. Instead of treating this as a genuine effort to resolve the matter, the office responded with a rigid, collection-focused attitude and refused to consider a practical compromise. We were expected to pay everything immediately while still being denied access to the facilities. A community association should make a reasonable effort to communicate with homeowners, provide clear and timely notices, and work constructively with residents who are actively trying to resolve a dispute. It should not use mandatory dues and denial of access as leverage while refusing to discuss a fair payment arrangement. We were not asking to avoid our responsibilities. We were asking for transparency, basic courtesy, and a reasonable path toward resolution. Unfortunately, our experience has reflected none of those things.

I highly recommend Dynamic Speakers San Diego Toastmasters club!!!…read more Perfect for: - Improving your self confidence - Improving your verbal communication skills (not just public speaking) - Getting leadership skills - Getting friendly and supportive feedback From Toastmasters organization's website: "Toastmasters...empowers people to achieve their full potential and realize their dreams. Through our member clubs, people throughout the world can improve their communication and leadership skills, and find the courage to change." Best of all, it's free to visit, and you may listen to my speech. :) P.S. We meet every Wednesday from 11:30-12:30 at BAE Systems, San Diego.

I joined the club at my first meeting but then let my fear and anxiety take over and I avoided meetings for months. But I knew that this club could help me and so I challenged myself to attend. The friendliness and helpfulness of the members encouraged me to continue to attend to build my self-confidence and communication skills and, eventually, my leadership skills. Besides the membership, what I like about the program is its go-at-your-own-pace approach. The initial communication and leadership manuals take you through 10 projects, each designed to teach you a new skill. I've seen members finish manuals in as little as 6 months or take as long as 4 years. Since joining Toastmasters, when I could barely stand up in front of a few people and speak, I now regularly teach classes, have emceed an event attended by 250, and even given toasts at special occasions. I now voice my opinion at business meetings and am better in all aspects of my job; after all, the key to success in the business world is the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly. The leadership skills I've learned through Toastmasters have allowed me to take on increasingly larger roles as an officer at the club, area, division, and district levels. With the support, friendship, and encouragement of the members of Dynamic Speakers Toastmasters I continue to improve my self-confidence and communication and leadership skills week after week. I encourage you to check our website and to visit us to see how we can help you become the confident communicator and leader you can be.

We cannot recommend Coach Dave from Shark Swim Lessons enough!…read more When my son first started, he had very little swimming experience. In just 8 sessions, Coach Dave helped him learn the foundations of swimming with so much patience, encouragement, and professionalism. We continued lessons with him, and 6 months later Archer is now like a little fish in the water What really stands out is Coach Dave's dedication and ability to connect with kids. He makes lessons fun while still building strong technique, confidence, and water safety skills. You can genuinely tell he cares about every child's progress.

I could do fine in water - could easily swim, as in not die when thrown in deep water. But I wanted to learn to swim laps/distance for triathlons and exercise and just could not figure it out. And I just could not find the right swim instructor or class for this. There's brand-new-to-water classes that teach you not to die in the water. And then there are classes that teach you to improve your technique in certain strokes. I was stuck in the middle - just could not figure out how to do the freestyle breathing right to even start swimming laps. I tried a couple different instructors, both of whom were probably good college swimmers, and they just had no real insight or experience with struggling to breathe. Enter Dave. In one session, he'd taught me 3x as much as multiple sessions with previous instructors and solo practice had taken me. By session 2, was up to being able to at least swim some short back-and-forths. Things got easier each session, and I left the initial package of lessons I bought feeling comfortable in the pool. Have since made a lot of progress, including some long open-water swims in the ocean. All thanks to Dave's great instruction.
