Went to stop by here on Friday 12/19/25. I don't often leave negative reviews but because the meat mix-up is a serious issue, not a small mistake. My gf and I ordered chicken adobo to share and was told it was chicken. After eating it, we realized it was clearly pork. When I brought this up, the staff did not believe us and continued to insist it was chicken instead of taking the concern seriously. They didn't even try to look at the bowl they served me. Let me be clear this is not just about preference serving pork when a customer is told it's chicken can have major religious and dietary consequences. Many people avoid pork for religious reasons, and dismissing that concern is unacceptable. Accuracy and transparency with ingredients are basic expectations, especially when it comes to meat. We got a few baked good we got silvana was good. The biko was gods cooked well the sweetness was balanced. The restaurant was clean and quiet. The vibe was chill. But that doesn't outweigh the impact of being misled about what I was eating. Trust is broken, and I won't be returning. Gwenies need to train their staff and they need to clearly label meats and take customer concerns seriously especially when religion and dietary restrictions are involved. I have been a fan of Gwenies for years and would even travel to their original location in Rockville MD. Please make sure you check your bowls get to her correct meat you order! I'd been waiting for a Friday off and this was well worth the hour drive from home. I did pair it with some other errands but I'll probably make up errands in the Frederick area so I have an excuse to come back soon!! The atmosphere is chill and the space is decorated nicely, and looks clean. There is a ADA ramp and wheelchair accessible bathroom. The donuts were fresh. I tried Nutella (divine) and pandan (tasty, generous filling) and grabbed a salted caramel latte to fuel my errands. I'll be sure to remember this place the next time I crave donuts!! read more

6.29.25 I got together with my two besties for a potluck lunch at one of their houses. One of my friends bought donuts (ube, pandan, and mangos). They are to die for my two favorite flavors were the ube and pandan. They were not overly sweet and the donuts would've been delicious on its own without any filling. There are apparently multiple locations of this Filipino bakery regionally. I stopped in at their Frederick outlet and found a robust selection of often purple and green baked goods. It was interesting stuff, and the cream puff donuts in particular went over well. I ended up with some jelly-based dessert that was non-vegetarian due to gelatin; they had ingredients labeled on it to their credit so it was my fault for buying something I wouldn't have if I'd known. The variety of ways to get ube and pandan was large, the overall variety of flavors and options was not huge. But it is an intriguing note to bring a different flavor to the area, and I approve of this place. read more

I have been wanting to try Gwenie's and finally made it last week. They have a few tables. A cute little establishment. The staff was helpful with explaining the different items. First time at this location! It's clean and nicely designed. I tried the ube matcha latte and it's phenomenal! I would highly recommend everyone to try it. The taste is so rich unlike other places where the ube cream is so thick that it's hard to get to the matcha part. Can't tell you how fast I finished this drink! read more

Went to At Home in Frederick and I realized Gwenies is close to there! When I googled the distance and found out it was walkable I went straight there. It was about 20mins to close and I was not able to see the bakery at its full potential because a lot of the items were gone. I love Hopia and i wanted to get their ube hopia because I have bought it in the past and it's so good! But I got the Ube pie and that was chefs kiss! The Sapin Sapin was good too! Prices are kind of high but honestly I'm use to it when it comes to Filipino bakeries. It's worth it to me haha. I can make Ube cake at home so I usually go for the items that I can't make or I know takes a long time to make. I can't wait to come back here. Their Siapao is ok too. Finally made it in here! What a sweet little place and the desserts we got were spot on! We had a cottage law neighbor where we moved from and she made delicious homemade Philippine food and this rivaled hers. I got the Ube cake. SUPER Moist and yummy. Hubby got some filled donuts that were great. And I got a savory siopao with pork. A little dry. However, we will be back, me for that Ube fix!! read more

Solid 4.5 I love everything about this cute little bakery called Gwenie's. I've been there twice now and have had excellent service. The nice ladies running the counter gave me their recommendations too I've tried the iced matcha latte and got a tiramisu latte today and both were outstanding. No more expensive than Starbucks too. YOU HAVE TO TRY THE NUTELLA DOUGHNUT. Soft pillowy goodness with the decadent nutella. A brioche doughnut is truly a treat. We also tried the pandan doughnut which was good but not my fav. Heard some hype about this place on social media, so had to give it a try. I've been here about 3 times now, and I can say that it's a really cute, nice and clean spot. The food and drinks are great. I LOVE the BLT and the Bacon, Egg and Cheese sandwiches. The store made bread is soooooo tasty. I also really enjoy the iced pandan latte. I knocked off 2 stars because I feel that they still haven't worked out kinks to provide fast and efficient service. Each time I've been, I've had to wait soooo long for my order. And this is even on non busy times, it literally just takes them so long to pump out the food and drinks. Lucky for me, I work from home, so I'm usually not in a rush to get in and out, but I for someone who's looking to grab something and quickly head to work, this place is probably gonna hold you up a bit. I also noticed that they still have quite a few menu items in "coming soon" status and that's pretty disappointing, as it's been a while. But I guess they're probably working on productivity with the current menu items, before adding more stuff, so that's understandable. All and all, I feel like I'll be giving this place more tries because those sandwiches and that pandan latte is just unmatched, but I do hope to see some improvement. read more

It was around 2 o clock and good portion of the options were out of stock. Since they closed at 6 I didn't think that would be an issue but I'll make sure to come early next time. Today was the grand opening and there was a line at the time I visited. The employees were very nice, helpful, and were handing out mini sample cupcakes! Since I almost always buy Ube flavored things from the Rockville location, I tried mango and it was pretty good! A few things are different than the Rockville location. There is limited seating inside here and a cute shelf with a lot of their staple items. It was pretty crowded when I visited so I didn't get to snap pics of the general space. They also serve coffee at this location! I feel like all the items were the same items, but I finally ventured out of my comfort zone and bought new items. This time I added a San Rival and a Slyvana cookie. A random person was kind enough to explain to me what they were, and it was a good impulse buy. I don't think I've had a cake/pastry similar in texture to a San Rival. It was soft and creamy, but with a little crunch, and perfect with a cup of tea. I decided to try this place since its new, service was a ok but the cashier forgot the flan i ordered. I ordered chocolate crinkles, which is not bad but not great taste is bland, the texture was perfect for a cookie brownie. The flan was good, firm but not to firm and had good taste to it. Now for the bad parts The Hopia Baboy pork filling, comes with 5. Right out the package it was as hard as a rock, i warmed it up for 40 seconds and it was soft again. I tore it open for the pork filling but there was none at all. I looked at the ingredients it does list ground pork but there was none in the 3 me and my family . I ordered 3 donuts, pandan, nutella, and mango. The nutella is one i ordered and in the photo its barely filled at all. This is very disappointing for the price i paid for. The donuts are very soft and coated in a light sugar but the filling needs more for the price point. read more

BLOWN AWAY Bought on recommendation and it didn't disappoint at all. Far exceeded my expectation finally a bakery or place making sweets that understands subtly. Not overly sweet like something you would get at Crumbl cookie which is in the shopping center ( I don't get the hype probably my least favorite cookies).
