This review is in due to Ivan not following through with his commitment to fix issues we identified during final walkthrough (or shortly thereafter) and repeated excuses / non-response when contacting him. I resisted writing this for several months in the hope that he would complete what was promised, but it's clear that he won't despite paying everything on time. If he's courageous enough to respond to this unlike he is with responding to my calls / texts, I will update or provide emails / texts to refute any claims from him.
I had Ivan remodel my house starting in 2020. The overall remodel took about 6 months and was smooth for the most part given it was taking place during the height of the pandemic. There were some quality issues with final fit and finish that he agreed to fix after we moved in (we have texts to prove). While most of the issues were fixed, we did have some that have persisted.
Two issues that we've asked about repeatedly since moving into our house in July 2021 were 1) two holes drilled incorrectly by his team into tile for towel hooks and 2) missing grout in the master bath. This review is written as of May 7, 2022. Waiting 10 months to resolve two issues is beyond ridiculous.
For the hooks, his painting team moved tape markers from the door into the shower area so they could paint the door. The finishing team put the hooks up thinking we wanted them there. It's not his finishing team's fault, but still the result of the workers he used and should be fixed. I asked him to remove the tiles that were drilled through and replace. He agreed his team would be able to. Simple enough right?
We also noticed the grout has 3-5 spot missing grout completely on the lower part of the master shower. We didn't notice this but made him aware as soon as we did.
His initial response (in October when he was still responding) was that he would have his tiler come and fix since they're somewhat close in Cupertino. Then in November, I called to get an update and was told that his tiler's dad passed away. When I called him in March, he said the tiler's dad passed away somehow again. While I understand that people grieve at different rates, it means he hasn't had a team to do tile work for 5 months? I find that hard to believe. In any case, I told him that I'd like to at least have him respond to my texts or calls. He agreed he would be responsive.
Fast forward 2 months now to May 2022, I've been texting him and calling him. It clearly says in each text that I send him that the message has been read (thank you, iOS). While you may say that it's just small stuff and to pay someone else to do it, I would say that I already paid someone to do it and they didn't do it right, they agreed to fix it, but they didn't. Why would I pay someone else? Especially since the agreement was that he would fix any issues that we discovered after moving in. Lastly, he also mentioned after we moved in that he would come back in 6 months to re-seal the baseboards because of settling. I'll let you all guess if that work has been done. read more
