And I gave i another try. I don't even remember what I had last time but this "spicy pulled pork burrito" was... gorgeous! I don't know what to call that substance.. Maybe itus?(The Chappelle Show, anyone?) That mildly addictive and super satisfying flavor can be known as "umami"? Anyways, it was full of it. I envy people who work near here for having this place as their lunch option. Should I consider a career change?

No! Hard to believe all of this, hey. But it happened. This is Asfhield 2131. No doubt levels of rudeness and food and drink qualities vary - it's a franchise, I think. Lodged a complain with g and g online. don't expect any joy there so bye bye to poor coffee and the rudest service I have ever experienced in my life - I'm a pensioner - and a nice guy, btw. When I mentioned making a complaint Bambi said, go ahead I don't care, it won't make any difference. Nice,

I was stoked when I first found out that there was a Guzman y Gomez opening in Crows Nest, mostly…read morebecause my memories of the original branch in Newtown are just that good. Back then soft shell tacos were a novelty (a completely different experience to the hard Old El Paso tacos we were all fed as Mexican growing up) and they had the most amazing prawn filling. The prawns were in a cumin spice rub and came with a squeeze of lime. This filling is no longer on the menu and my disappointment at this is everlasting. The Crows Nest branch of the tacqueria chain has a really nice atmosphere with a wide open and airy shop front, and an outdoor seating area with brightly coloured flags. The burritos are jam-packed with yummy goodness and the veggie option is actually quite substantial, consisting of sautéed mushrooms, onions. They are also licensed, so you can enjoy a nice cold corona to help wash down the burrito-y goodness. However as per usual with me it comes down to the simple things, which in this case is the fact that there is an array of condiments to accompany your meal, including three types of Tabasco sauce... in large pump containers. There is your normal run of the mill original Tabasco, then there is the extra hot Habanero Tabasco, but for me it all comes down to the crème de la crème of Tabasco sauces; Chipotle Tabasco. It basically tastes like someone has added smokey bbq sauce to Tabasco... And it is GOOD!

It may be a chain but dios mio! Guzman Y Gomez have nailed Mexican street food…read more The food is great, it's fresh and healthy and you can tell the high quality of the ingredients. This is no sloppy, messy, greasy mexican fast food. This is good mexican street food - possibly better than some of what you'd get on the streets of Mexico City. I love popping in and grabbing a couple of tacos, sitting at the bar table by the window and watching the goings-on in the Tea Garden Hotel's beer garden across the road - it's always comical! I'm also a huge fan of the mini-burritos, which are the perfect size! What's most impressive about GYG is the continuity in the quality of food, quality of service and the overall dining experience of this chain of restaurants. Every GYG I've visited is excellent. There are a large number of Mexican "restaurants" around town that could learn a thing or two from GYG. I only wish GYG would bite the bullet and open a full restaurant with a beer as they would make a killing. Mi gusto mucho.

I've been here quite a few times, so I've sampled quite a few options on the menu....and my favourite would have to be the Barramundi Bowl....i decided to try it for a change (as I normally do the Veggie Bowls - also excellent) and now I have an addiction. The food taste super fresh and flavoursome and despite the fact that these places are popping up faster than acne on your teenage cousin, it seems they have still maintained their quality.... So back to the Barramundi Bowl - it's basically grilled Barrumundi fish pieces on rice with vegetables and yummy mexican additions like guacamole, peppers and sour cream.... it is so good but my description doesn't do it justice.... it' costs around $12 and I really really really really recommend you try it! If only they sold Tequila here, I think I'd never leave...

The steak was tender and I got the hint of tequila in the sauce. I enjoyed a watermelon salad that complimented the the steak. The portions are good, but a stretch if you are sharing. Drinks were better than the food. They stuff the families toward the back but lack any amenities (no changing table) except a high chair. Service started off friendly but it took a while to get someone to take our order and then they forgot our dish which came out cold when we asked for it. Then we had to flag someone down to pay the bill. The watermelon salad was tasty but not complex, tossed with a few cucumbers and pistachios. The corn lollipops with spicy mayo sauce were probably the best dish. The beef empanadas were cold and average though the salsa was an interesting pickled onion. Definitely skip the octopus dish- it was dry, over cooked and lacked flavor though the presentation looked promising. It came with squares of polenta and dallops of potato mash with a dramatic squid ink streak across the dish but no interesting flavors stood out. All those dishes and still left hungry. The Guadalajara passion fruit drink was easy to sip and not too strong. The beer was average. This is more of a spot to grab some mixed cocktails and a few snacks but not meal worthy.

Good Mexican is always hard to find and this spot is well hidden on level 6 of Westfield building…read more This level reminded me of an airport terminal. We started with corn chips with a bean dip. The corn chips were clearly fresh and that made a big difference. Really yum and the dip was perfect to match. Next up was grilled corn with a creamy butter coriander sauce. This was nothing special. Was more looking for something a little bit spicer considering its a Mexican. The ancient grain salad was served. This salad contained quinoa, broccoli, pumpkin, chia and pomegranate seeds with a tequila sauce. This was a great choice on the menu and definitely would choose this one again. For the mains we selected Beef enchiladas and Cod. The beef enchiladas was pretty good but not exceptional and was a little light in the meat department. The cod was not what you would traditionally expect from a Mexican so figured it was a good choice to go with. It turned out to be a stellar one. The cod was beautiful and had a nice smoky sauce to go with it. Amazingly there was room for dessert and decided to opt for the Chilli Brownie. The brownie was made with dark chocolate and didn't have that overly heavy after feeling that you get from some desserts. Just didn't really notice the chilli in it though but still nice. The experience was really good in this place. The atmosphere was very relaxed and would certainly come back again.
