Don't count on this company to help you if you have any issues with your U-Haul! We rented from them ( got talked into buying extra insurance... WASTE of money) Truck broke down after 2 hours! Had to spend the night before they could bring us a new one. We were told they would compensate us for hotel/meal. Absolutely didn't! They sent out TWO men to reload our whole house of furniture and they didn't secure our dining table. It fell over, leg broke off, top all scratched! They say they aren't responsible, U-Haul is, U-Haul won't take responsibility, the insurance company won't cover it! Guthries say they only rent out the trucks ( not responsible). Wow! I'm surprised by the other reviews for this company. My wife and I rented a 20' U-Haul truck from Guthrie's Self Storage and had a great experience. The two ladies working there were extremely helpful and nice. They even suggested I drop the truck off near our new house instead of driving it back to Madison in order to save money. I would recommend at least giving them a try. read more

I will NEVER and would advise others to look elsewhere from using this company for ANYTHING. Worst customer service EVER! I reserved a 26' truck and tow dolly to be picked up at this location. When I arrived I was the ONLY person there other than the lady working. She sent me out to hook up my tow dolly to the truck by myself to which I was out there struggling with the FAULTY equipment that they 100% FAILED to check before renting me the gear. I had to go in the office and beg her several times to assist and all she wanted to do was call in help from another location which would have taken ever longer. After over an hour trying to get the straps undone from the tow dolly so I could secure my vehicle this put me way behind schedule which caused a chain reaction of several more issues and costs to me. Fast forward a month later to today and I am supposed to be returning a truck and trailer back to this location again when I purposely chose a different drop off location due to my past experience here but was somehow routed back to this location. I am of course once again having MAJOR issues with this location. When I picked up the truck in TX Wednesday I was told there was 1/4 tank of gas and to bring it back with 1/4 to not be charged. When I go out to inspect and video the truck before leaving the property I cranked it and saw that there was not only not 1/4 tank of gas but it was on E and the digital readout said 8 miles to empty. This was AFTER I had already paid everything, gotten paperwork, and was leaving. I went back in the office to tell her and show her my picture and video of the gas being on E and not at 1/4 tank which she CLAIMED it was at. She said she would update it. Now yesterday I was about to return this equipment and I called ahead only to go round and round with the lady working there now. She kept claiming that they gave me a credit (which they did not nor would they have even known about) and keeps telling me that if I don't bring the truck back with 1/4 tank of gas that they will bill me more charges. This is complete BS as the truck was on E when I took it so why the hell are they trying to force ME to put it back to 1/4 when the last person chose to leave it on Empty. These people are a bunch of scam artist and after the HORRIBLE experiences I've had over the last 30 days with uhaul and Guthries I'm about to return this truck and dolly with the same or as close as I can get to the "8 miles to empty" which again was where it was on my video at pickup and now DARE them to try to charge me anything addition because my brother is an litigating attorney and I WILL take legal action if they try that BS. Sadly I need storage too as I scaled down and even though this place is closest to me I will NEVER do business with this place again of any kind. Oh and I was also promised this morning a call from the "District Manager" but of course that was all a lie and never happened. Again, I would steer far clear of this company and save yourself the troubles and headaches. read more
