This location opened up about a year ago, off the corner of Johnson Ferry and Lower Roswell. I was intrigued by it but never opted to try it due to Zaxby's being right there. However, after recently moving over this way and it being on my route home, I opted to try it. It's a stand alone place that is similar to Checkers style of serving: drive through and walk-up (no indoors dining). Their menu is simple: chicken, fries, coleslaw and garlic bread. Soooo, the good: the sweet tea, dipping sauce and coleslaw. The bad: the chicken, cost and wait time. Honest opinion: this is the redheaded stepchild to Raising Canes. It's a deviation from Zaxbys. Both Raising Canes and Guthries have basically tried to imitate Zaxbys. The only thing this place has on either is their dipping sauce (which also is very similar to Zaxbys). I paid $13 for 5 small chicken fingers. And they were small. Wasn't a fan of the batter either. Well, at least they tried. Makes zero sense to have this place near Zaxby's. Save your money and get the Wings N Things at Zaxby's. Ugh, I hate being disappointed when I try something new. read more

Guthrie's has an extremely limited menu, but unfortunately does not do it well. The fries were average, their special sauce is fine, but I found the chicken tenders too salty. At least all the food was fresh. Tenders is supposed to be the main attraction but I would not get them again. I FINALLY can say that I've had the original chicken tenders! My husband is a HUGE fan of Guthrie's from his years at UGA. He was excited to move back to GA and find this one down the street from us. Order through the website/Yelp and got my food in a great timing, still piping hot when we got home. The tenders were cooked well, with just enough yummy crispy edges. I would liked them a little more seasoned but appreciated very much that they aren't super salty. Loved the coleslaw too! We'll be back for more. I only went through the drive thru, so I can't speak on ambiance, but this one looked like a walk-up only diner. It would be nice to be able to sit and enjoy these fresh out of the fryer! read more

This is a plate full of nostalgia for me .... YUM! If you're watching your waistline, this isn't the place for you. The menu is no frills - chicken fingers, fries, slaw, and Texas toast. It's also drive-thru or walk up and take out only. Now that the weather is nice, it would be awesome if they had some outdoor tables so that you could walk up and enjoy a meal with some fresh air. I read the other reviews that were a little lackluster and don't really agree. The chicken fingers were piping hot and well seasoned. The fries were super fresh (I watch them pull them out of the oil and serve them straight away). And the service was faster than the Chick-fil-a drive thru down the street. No complaints at all. But no... a bland chicken finger somewhat warm with crinkle cut fries that were brown and slightly burnt and had no flavor. STAY AWAY!!! We are new to the area and tried Guthries because we heard they were good. We ordered 2 of the Big G boxes which included 6 chicken fingers each. They were busy with lots of orders so we waited. We didn't check the order until we got home. They had only put 5 fingers in each box so they shorted us 2. I called immediately and was told they had checked the order and we were wrong. I hopped in car and drove there and the assistance manager basically accused me of lying because they check every order. He said they checked their cameras and they had put the 6 chicken fingers in each box. I asked to see the tapes and he refused. I sent an email to the corporate headquarters and have never heard back. They dont care about customer service and clearly comfortable of treating their customers like crap! Was in East Cobb and this popped up on my radar. I haven't had Guthries since my days in Tuscaloosa. Wow to see it now in Atlanta. It stands true and is just as good as I remember. Definitely not the Guthrie's of my college days in Athens. I was pretty excited that one was opening up since Zaxby's isn't that good and there is no Caines nearby. Picked up five finger box from the drive through. Service was good and friendly. However, the fingers were cold and small. The fries were very hot which makes me think the fingers were just sitting around. Fries have no season and you need the sauce. The sauce is exactly what I remember but, couldn't help with the fingers. May give them another shot to see if they can make fingers fresh to order. read more

Sat in the drive-through with two people in front of us for at least five minutes. Ordered a chicken sandwich meal. Started pulling out of the drive-through and checked the sandwich which did not include the fries. Pulled back into the parking lot and walked to the window and told them the order did not include fries. They wanted us to prove that there weren't any fries so we had to go get the box and open it and show them that there weren't any fries. And then after showing the employee that there were no fries the employee asked do you want some fries? The chicken in the sandwich was tasty, but it was impossible to eat because the whole thing fell apart when picked up. I'll stick with Zaxby's and Chick-fil-A. read more

Guthries is legit. Not sure what the negative reviews are about, fresh cooked fingers might mean you have to wait few minutes but it well worth it. And the guy who remembers Guthries from Baxter street in Athens is crazy. It's the same delicious chicken and brought back memories for me. Zaxby's is SO over. read more

The food is super delicious though the menu isn't huge. They do fried chicken and do it really well. As far as I know this is where Raising Cane stole their business model. They just opened and are still getting their sea legs under them but service is friendly and pretty fast. There's nowhere to sit down (it's drive through/walk up only) so keep that in mind. read more

Went here a week after opening and was excited because Guthries was a staple for me at Auburn in the late 80's. This... is not Guthries. We waited 15 minutes at the drive thru and were ok with it because we knew it would be hot and fresh. Well, we got 4 plates and 2 were too hot to eat immediately (yay!). The other two were room temp and could not be eaten... I mean old. I sent a message to the company via their website and there was no response.
