I really wanted to enjoy this place. The server was friendly and the manager also. The salad dressing was not prepared correctly (straight mustard) instead of honey mustard. They apologized but never made some to be bring us, ended up with basic ranch dressing. I ordered the special which was a 6oz sirloin with 3 shrimp and mashed potatoes, I asked to substitute asparagus for the mashed potatoes, it was an extra $1.49, the asparagus was good and so was the shrimp. My wife ordered an 8oz steak with baked macaroni and cheese with a salad. Her steak was supposed to be medium and it came out closer to well done. Mine was supposed to be medium rare and it came out medium well. They apologized and took mine back, my wife decided to keep hers. 15 minutes later I finally got my steak. It was cooked correctly but with all the pepper on it it wasn't that good. My wife's was over seasoned also. Got the bill and they didn't even think about discounting anything. I asked for some sort of discount and they ended up taking my meal off the bill. I think it will be awhile before I eat here again. Ordered a Bloody Mary with Grey Goose and six olives, it came out with two olives. I asked for the other four and the waitress brought out three more, I didn't ask for the sixth olive. While on vacation in the area I overheard someone mention the name of this restaurant and decided to check it out with the family. I made reservations the day before and glad otherwise we would have been in line waiting for a table. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Inside we were lucky enough to have a table by the window that has a great view. Wish I knew about the outdoor as I would have requested that. There's always next time. Our server Jennifer was super. They have an extensive bourbon list that takes up the whole back page of the menu. The Lemon Drop was very good per my wife. The Granddaughters tried to order kiddy cocktails but were denied as they did not make them. Our server did her best to make a rendition of one, so 10 points for her. All the food we ordered tasted very good and cooked to our requests. I would go back. I would recommend making reservations. I'll want to try the outdoor seating next time. Great view of the lake. Great spot, drink glass was never empty. Service appears to be a priority to this establishment. Staff was busy, friendly, not standing around talking. They were tentative and kind. My food was served very hot and my special requests kindly met. No ice, vinegar, no scallions, no fries instead augratin. I work here every other week and I will definitely return. Was in Somerset on a Thursday night and tried this place out. The ribeye that I ordered was very good. Cooked just right and lean. The wedge salad was also excellent. My server Destiny was outstanding!!! She actually was not supposed to be my server and that is my only true complaint. After waiting for quite a while I stopped Destiny and told her I hadn't been waited on and instead of getting someone she jumped right in and waited on me and took great care of me!! So other than the not being waited on initially the only other complaint I have and really the restaurant can't control this, but I sat outside and I was eaten alive my bugs!!! We asked the hotel attendant where we should go and this was the first place she mentioned. Took a look at the bourbon and whisky list and was quite impressed. Some of the best value bourbons out there for very reasonable prices. Michters, EH Taylor, and all three Weller. I got a Weller 12 which was listed on the menu at 12 dollars and was really pleased with that. Ordered the filet rare and it came out great. Great season and great sear. The prices were right and the food quality was on par with much higher priced steak houses. We got the bill and I had my food and bourbon split on two checks. Food check looked fine but the bourbon check showed an extra charge of 3.50 for "Neat". First time I've ever seen that. The food was five stars. The service was five stars. The backward way of showing a price on the menu then charging 25% more because I want it in a glass and don't want ice, that's not ok, especially when any up-charge isn't mentioned on the liquor list. I checked. Also it looked like a standard 1.5 oz pour in the glass so I didn't feel like it was more whisky because it was neat. I rarely review and I actually opened up the app originally to review it 5 stars after getting the steak delivered to the table. I started writing the review and almost posted before we even finished the meal since it was so good. I'm glad I put the phone down till we were done and waited. It just felt shady. My family and I found Guthrie's Grill online before our vacation to Burnside. We had never been to the area before, and we were excited to check out Guthrie's after seeing their website. We weren't disappointed. Our family of 6 (4 small children) all enjoyed our food, and the atmosphere. Enough so that we went there 2 nights in a row! We sat inside the first night, and on their incredible patio with lakeside view the second night. The steak was one of the best I've ever had, and prices were reasonable. We arrived on a Thursday around 6:00 and the parking lot was packed... that's always a good sign. I was surprised that we were seated right away, with no wait. I opted to set on the patio, with a view of the lake. My husband was delighted to find KY Bourbon Barrel Ale on the drink menu, so I became the DD. We ordered chicken nachos and a flat bread pizza. The nachos were some of the best that I've ever had. The were huge, they weren't kidding when they said that it feeds 2-4 people! The chips weren't like bagged chips, they were more like homemade. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, along with the pico and queso, it all was perfect. The flat bread pizza wasn't like a normal shareable pizza, it was a small and rectangle. We had finished what we were going to eat of the nachos, when the pizza arrived. The food was excellent but the service was lacking. Our waitress seemed to be constantly busy, bussing tables and sweeping the floors... everything else but pouring our refills. My husband and a man at the next table over, both went to the bar to order their next beer. If I went back and got the same waitress, I would seriously ask for a different one, it was that bad. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Friendly hostess, excellent waitstaff. Had the grilled cheese on sourdough with bacon and tomato and the tomato basil soup. We had been here twice last year when in town on family business. Knew we wanted to go back since we were in town yesterday. Guthrie's still is awesome. We enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass served over sautéed spinach and rice. I actually think it may have been risotto last night. Whatever, it was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Went here for lunch today. Would give a 3.5 but I'm rounding up to 4 because it was an overall good experience. Service was great. Started with the stuffed mushrooms. They were a little burnt and lacking in flavor. May have been an off day as the other pictures I see of them look more appetizing. Had a balsamic vinaigrette salad which was good. For my entree I had the ribeye which they let me order cajun style. Appreciated that they would let you make customizations to your meal. Good steak not necessarily great. For my side I had the Au Gratin potatoes. The side was the star of the meal. Sat on the back patio and enjoyed an amazing view and gorgeous weather. The citrus salmon and fire roasted cream corn (just a tad too spicy for me) were excellent as was the scallop special. The "mini" key lime pie got an A-plus for presentation was very good but a little too tart for some (not me!). Our "mini' crème Brule was smooth and creamy and the burnt sugar topping was spectacular. The atmosphere was relaxing as we waited at the bar for our table. Every time I'm in Somerset for work, I stop at Guthrie's for dinner. It seems to be a staple in the community. They always have good food and they have an impressive bourbon/beer menu. Last time I was there I got the 'all you can eat' catfish. For the price, it's a great deal! Also, there is a very good view of Lake Cumberland from the deck of the restaurant. If it's a nice day out, I recommend sitting outside and overlooking the lake. It's a perfect view. If you're in the area, stop at Guthrie's! read more

We had a group of 23 that ate there and the service was great! They do take reservations, so we didn't have to wait at all when we got there. Staff was excellent and very friendly. You must sit out on the patio and take in the wonderful view of Lake Cumberland. The appetizers and delicious and peta chips are delicious! My husband ordered the cowboy ribeye with bourbon glaze, which was to die for, very tender/juicy and flavorful. I ordered one of the house favorites, basil Dijon salmon. This too was good, except they could have toned down the Dijon a smidgen. However, all in all, still a good meal. Overall I will definitely be returning during my next visit to Somerset. read more

My wife and I returned to Guthrie's for another great meal. As always the service was great from the time we walked in the door till we left. My wife had the pecan encrusted chicken served on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes. She loved it and brought her left overs home since it was a large serving. The special, ribeye with sea scallops was tempting, but I had my favorite here, grilled fillet and perfectly cooked baked potato and house salad. They have three salad dressings they make themselves and I had the Balsamic Vinegarette and I recommend it highly. They offer great deserts but who could have room. This one of the best restaurants in Kentucky that I have been to. Oh yeah, the frozen margaritas were great too. read more

We've frequented this establishment many times but tonight was prob the last time we will be back. We decided to go out for Mother's Day early to avoid the Sunday crowd. They brought our food out and my salmon was raw (I didn't order sushi) so they took it back to cook it some more. In the meantime my husband got his rib eye, which had NO marbling at all. It was a New York steak but they argued that it was not. My food finally came back cooked correctly when my husband had about 2 bites left on his plate. So I watched him eat and then he sat back and watched me eat. The manager made NO attempt to discount us on my undercooked fish. She offered me dessert (I'm a diabetic so that's a no go). The disregard for customer service left a very bad taste in our mouth and it will be a very long time before we come back. read more
