I used to get my tried and true black graduated thigh high compression stockings from them. Well, after Jobst discontinued the line I wear I was at a loss. Not only was customer service unhelpful in providing me alternative brands/styles my insurance would cover that are comparable to the original ones I was prescribed, they refused to order black in the brand my insurance would pay for-Ames Walker. I'm tall but lean and so finding a brand that fits me, and has fabric I can tolerate is a nightmare. My interventional radiologist picked the perfect brand and model. It's a shame Jobst discontinued the line that actually fit me and felt tolerable. But I digress, I explained to them, Guthrie Med Supply Depot, that I'm autistic and have sensory issues with fabric and I wear very thin leggings as well due to getting over heated easily and needing a very thin and smooth fabric. I will literally pick at myself all day if I am too hot or the fabric is too rough. That said, only black will hide under my clothing. Not white. They started to ONLY carry white, beige, red and blue! Of course not black. Even the rep agreed that it made 0 sense since black does hide well under sheer leggings which are also black and they agreed that black is more universally flattering for most people's wardrobe. Sadly management refused to order black even after my doctor called on my behalf explaining I am autistic, tall and need black with a soft fit fabric due to sensory challenges to prevent recurrence of DVTs, as well as to walk. I had to spend weeks finding an alternative DME store that carried black thigh highs in my area or that would ship to me and be covered by my insurance. Needless to say, management at this location was the issue. They weren't just unhelpful, they lacked empathy and had no actual logical reason for why they just stopped carrying black thigh highs all together in the one and only brand covered by poor people insurance that actually fits tall people. These things aren't cheap and many people, myself included, have to risk a DVT and be in pain if they can't afford to pay out of pocket and order online instead. Cayuga Medical Supply had 0 issues accommodating me and helping me. So go there instead! Oh, and everyone there also agreed that black is the most popular color. So they too did not understand why Guthrie irrationally stopped carrying black. read more

Don't go. They forget to give you (everything) needed for a nebulizer. It's like pulling teeth to get the proper medication needed to breath. read more

Awful people. I brought in paperwork to pick up a wheelchair. The woman behind the desk started complaining immediately "this doesn't have the info I need, I don't know how you people expect me..." I said "I didn't fill out the form, the doctor did. Tell me what you need and I'll get it." She immediately got all defensive and frosty and made things as difficult as possible. I was in town for a conference at Ithaca College, and had forgotten my CPAP machine! I called Guthrie, explained my situation, and they said they had a machine I could use! I would have been more than happy to pay them for a rental, even pay for the machine, otherwise I would have had to go home early, that's how serious a situation it is. Not only could they help me, but they didn't charge me ANYTHING for the use of the machine. They just said it felt good to help someone in need, and fully trusted me to get the machine back to them, which of course I did. Can't thank them enough, these are people with their hearts in the right place! read more

The supply's are nice and many things to look at and choose from. But my problem is customer service. The person/lady at the front desk when you walk in to the left is always a little mean and not very polite at all i have seen this person be very rude to older people and younger people when they come in to the supply store. I have been in costume service for about 8 years and the costume service there is very uncalled for and they need to work on being more polite and respectful and work with less Attitude. read more

I would not recommend Guthrie Med Supply because of lack of proper customer service. Walking into the store, the receptionist makes a remark about not having enough time to sit an process something with me because she is to be leaving for break in 15 minutes. Over hearing another conversation with the customer ahead of me, the receptionist also makes rude remarks at her as well. The woman asks for a recommendation on a purchase and the receptionist rudely responds, "I don't know I'm not your doctor." I'm adding a review because I was surprised by the previous negative reviews. I've been going to Guthrie for supplies for several years. Sometimes I am going in without a prior call, looking for last minute supplies and feeling stressed and/or frustrated. I try to remember that the person at the desk is a person, and not at fault. I have always been taken care of and treated well. I'm lucky they have always had what I need. They have been very accommodating during COVID, with contact-free delivery. I have bought supplies from other medical products dealers, and have been happiest with Gutherie...will be going today. read more

We have attempted to call the Ithaca branch at least 5 times over the past 3 weeks to order supplies with no callback after leaving a message. We finally got someone to answer last week who said that wasn't her department but she would leave a message for the woman who did. No call back. I think the next step is going down there and beating on the door. it's a good thing we are ambulatory and not in need of medical deliveries. When you do go in there the desk person is rather abrupt and not very accommodating, like it's an imposition you're there. I intend to complain to the Guthrie organization. read more

I use MSD for a CPAP machine. When I have problems: I call and have to leave a message, which they either don't respond to or wait 2 days to do so. When I go to the office, the receptionist never even acknowledges me. The resp therapists first and foremost try to prove I'm wrong that I have a problem. When I first started, they said they would check in with me, regularly, but didn't. Once I had to argue my case just to be allowed to take used equipment. My spouse has Lynn Care for a CPAP. They always pick up the phone. They make regular appointments, make sure the Rx's are getting filled, and send the equipment without prompting by mail (for free). I'm not sure if their manners are any better, but clearly a better-run business. I didn't give MSD 1 star because the people are intelligent and capable, and, anyway, there are surely worse places to go. read more

Worst customer service anywhere. The therapist is done with you after your first visit; have a question or need an adjustment, you're out of luck. There seems to be only one person working there and she is mean and rude. Never answers the phone. If they would hire an employee who does not take her unhappiness out on others, I'd have no complaint. read more
