I can't believe I'm writing a review for CVS, let alone a five star one. But I have to give kudos where kudos are due! Joe in the pharmacy went above and beyond to help me fill a prescription. I was driving into town without a needed prescription and called from the road to get a small supply locally. I thought it would be easy (since the prescription was on file with CVS Caremark), but Joe jumped through a LOT of hoops to transfer it over and get it filled (including repeatedly losing contact with me as I drove through no service zones during a thunderstorm), all in the last 45 minutes of his day. I have very rarely left a negative review but my experience with a pharmacist at this CVS today definitely warrants one. I picked up my prescription, and had a question for the pharmacist. When it was my turn, the pharmacist was so rude in her manner that I actually walked away without asking my question. Customers usually are picking up prescriptions because they are either sick or in pain. At the very least, they deserve professional and courteous treatment. I will be changing my pharmacy location the next time I need a prescription! read more

There is an employee named Alex who has been with the store for a while now. He is absolutely wonderful. He is always super friendly and goes above and beyond. I've been going to this cvs for almost a decade and Alex is BY FAR your best employee. I watch other workers move like turtles and ignore customers but never ever him. He even helped me find something I was looking for and showed me where it was on clearance. This guy deserves a raise and serious recognition. Sadly I have found that the typical cvs employee is doing the absolute bare minimum and they all look like they wish they were anywhere else. But not Alex. And no I do not know him personally but I've had sooooo many bad experiences with cvs that I thought the bosses should know that they need to do everything they can to keep Alex. And if he's not doing it already, you should definitely have Alex train your new employees. Because I am sorry but you aren't hiring the best or brightest (except Alex and the lady pharmacist. The man is very moody and when hes nice its great. But i have seen AND experienced him when his mood is foul and I don't think that is what corporate expects from their highly trained, very educated pharmacists. But the Indian (?) lady who is relatively new is absolutely wonderful. Those 2 employees, Alex and Indian lady pharmacist are the only ones worth keeping. At least keeping in the front where customers can see. Its definitely time to do a complete reevaluation of your hiring methods and criteria because its not a difficult job (outside the pharmacy----i feel for those clerks and how many angry, under-medicated, addicts they deal with on an hourly basis) so why do your workers always look sooooo miserable. Maybe you should let Alex hire, he's the best representative of cvs at your ithaca store. By far!!!! He definitely deserves a BIG BIG BIG raise based on just his excellent customer service skills but he deserves recognition from some big wigs in upper mgmt for singlehandedly creating regular customers and creating a welcoming and friendly environment. There are zero other employees capable of that at your Ithaca store. Good luck and please for the love of sanity ----hire more ppl to work the pharmacy. There's ALWAYS a line, usually pretty long, the pharmacists are clearly overworked and in desperate need of organization systems (i have gotten the same exact prescriptions for a decade....why on earth would you not have it stocked? And your app is always incorrect as well. It will tell me its time to renew but then i get all the way there, on foot, and im told nope its too early. Thats a huge inconvenience caused by the faulty cvs app. Please please please get it fixed asap. And hire more ppl in the pharmacy, your clerks are harried, overwhelmed and considering that they are the ones taking crap from customers caused by the app and inefficient and incredibly slow prescription fills. Take better care of your employees; they are the face of your business and w the exception of the wonderful Alex they are all very sad and depressing. Is that the image you are going for? Thank you and I hope you take reviews seriously and reward deserving employees and I really hope you can fix the multitude of problems with your store. Try hiring people that you would have told no previously. And hire ppl who value customer service over corporate bottom lines. Or keep losing business until you are gone like rite aid and all the other fallen overpriced stores. Oh and over $7 for a notebook is outrageous and yall should be ashamed. Lower your prices or you'll be gone quick. Your prices aren't even just high; they are crazy ridiculous and unaffordable for your target customers. I used to buy little things there several times per week. But with the bonkers prices rising and rising I only fill my prescription and leave. I cannot afford to purchase anything there unfortunately. You are a huge chain with massive profits who underpay most of the actual workers by a shameful amount so there is no good reason why your prices need to be so high. We have been trying to transfer my daughters prescriptions to CVS # 502 in Ithaca NY from our store in Alexandria VA. Although we started this process on 9/2/2025, the prescriptions have not yet been transferred as of today, 9/15/2025. We have tried in person, through the telephone system and have tried to contact the pharmacy through the font of the store and we have not been able to get through to anyone or get the prescription filled. When I called the pharmacy directly I was put on hold for 45 minutes and then hung up on. This happened two times. I am on hold with CVS pharmacy again and it has been over one hour. My daughters prescriptions are for a blood pressure condition and she is in danger of falling and hurting herself if she doesn't have her medication which she still DOSEN' T! I am in the process of transferring all of her prescriptions to Walgreens because this has been a horrific experience and the pharmacies at this store has been horrible! read more

*WARNING before you choose to go this CVS pharmacy be aware: *This Pharmacists named JOHN he is a "floater" very rude and incompetent. As well Jonathan he is the new pharmacist manager. *Long time on hold when finally waiting more than an hour on the phone you will get a very rude unprofessional response from a Pharmacist technician without knowledge of medical insurances procedures, lack of knowledge in prescribed control substances in general I am very concerned trusting this pharmacy with my health. I am switching to a pharmacy near by Waoooo everything since you walk in the store is clean organized above and beyond 5 starts customer service and also if you call them they treat you with dignity and courtesy. Whether this CVS Pharmacist John again (his is a floater) out of ignorance or a faulty in their system is not a reason to treat customers so poorly. Also count your pills before you leave the store I had 90 tables very expensive and high control substances level IV thanks God I opened the bottle before stepping out when they were only 20 pills. I went back immediately to let them know of this error otherwise I would've lost 80 pills and no way to get them back as soon you step out of that main entrance door you held accountable so be careful. *Also they will compromise your personal privacy vocalizing, and will blurt out yours health, medicine names out loud Ithaca will know what is going on with you. Unbelievable this pharmacy is traumatizing you feel like in a horror movie Brace for impact or don't even think twice before going there. No apologies, no follow up, prescriptions are "ready for pick up" when you get there "READY?? Nope they cannot even find them or it was a mistake which they don't take ownership. They don't have empathy nor kindness for the customers needs Time is valuable and revenue is important to keep a business growing bye CVS you just lost shhh "more than 6k a month in revenue because of 2 of your employees. read more

This is the only store front in the world where handicap parking is the furthest from all other parking yet they have six spaces much closer and make handicap people struggle to get to the door. Definitely a violation of every law in the world. But the management of CVS doesn't care about people with disabilities read more

This pharmacy is simply awful. I waited for 3 hours to get my medicine, and then they closed and I couldn't get it. Even had my doctor call around the 2 hour mark and they told me it would be right out in 15 minutes. Don't let them string you along, I'm switching pharmacies. read more

I'm not sure what makes this CVS so special, but they aware ALWAYS backed up, ALWAYS take 25-30 minutes to "finish your meds for you" even when you've gotten the text saying it's ready. Prices are way too high for most items. When having sales all the restrictions are in tiny fine print on the tags and I had to go back for a refund because we didn't read the tiny fine print on the tags. Would only go here if I'm desperate. read more

The pharmacy section of this CVS is a disaster, as Patrick wrote last September. I've been going for a year to pick up a monthly prescription and 6 times out of ten I've had to wait for a half hour or more. They are constantly scrambling and the line backs up. THE WORST and I've used a lot of pharmacies all over the state, all over the nation. 1. Phone system refuses to recognize my DOB and no one in pharmacy wants to bother helping me figure out how to fix that. 2. Rxs for PTSD & fibromyalgia are not filled when promised or not on their schedule to be filled, not even after they themselves have already confirmed the Rxs and date to pick up (WTF?!) 3. Pharmacy staff won't bother looking up my prescriptions after a long drive to pick up. We all know they can. They did it before. They're supposed to do that. read more

Set up a delivery in which they gave the service the wrong phone number and then subsequently lost my prescription. Now insurance won't cover the prescription since--in technical terms--it's already been filled. read more

The Ithaca Clinton St location is the worst CVS I've been to. Seems every time I go to this location there is an issue. Systems have problems or "we are very busy" is the usual excuses. I'll get a text saying my prescription is ready and when I get there they say it isn't ready and that you can't rely on the text notifications to be accurate. Same with renewing a prescription online...never ready when it says it will be. I try to call first but they often do not answer the phone. On hold today for 25 minutes with no answer so I finally gave up. Also be very careful when using the drive up as they don't appear to do a very good job of cleaning between patrons picking up or drive up COVID testing. read more

I was in town for a tennis tournament and need to get to pharmacy to get items for a injury and got their 9:50, 10 mins before they close, and they had doors locked. So I knocked and someone came to door and said they are closed I said it's only 9:50 and I got a shrug shoulder and a response of that's what he was told to do....so Walgreens has earned my business moving forward. read more
