A popular spot for normal priced wine and spirits. The reason I say normal is because they don't seem to add a lot of up charges to their bourbon which if you are a bourbon hunter is a good thing. Plus, they place their allocated bourbon out on a counter making it easy for anyone to find it and purchase it. Today's visit brought me in to find a good quality red wine. I was seeking a California Cabernet that was good to enjoy with pizza and fruit forward, I appreciated the advice from the knowledgeable wine expert on staff. We will try out the new to me wine on Sunday while we eat pizza and watch the Bills play with a couple of friends. read more

I still have my wine and spirits discount card for them. A truly classy wine and liquor store, located near the commercial center of the wealthy Cayuga Heights Village. They have regular tastings. They have had an entire side of an aisle of Sangiovese wine from Tuscany in Italy , which at some point I had purchased most of, of the ones that were less than twenty dollars. Some were even only eleven or twelve dollars before tax! This is not the place to be frugal, as their selection of liquor, such as Scotch Whiskey, which I bought a few bottles of here to hearken back to my semester in Scotland. read more

I couldn't find a specific bottle of hooch so I ordered it at the three Ithaca liquor stores - Triphammer, Northeast Liquor and Judd Falls Liquor. I left my name and number at each. For some reason, not one establishment was able to procure it, even though I know it's available. However, Triphammer was the only place that had the courtesy to call me back. They have a good selection and reasonable prices. It was my go-to in Ithaca, as they had both a variety of things to get, decent prices, and you didn't have to go downtown which is always a plus. Service was always good, and their rewards program definitely awarded us some free bottles. read more

This place has a great selection of wine or hard booze. It is never that crowded, and when the cashier asks you if you have one of their membership cards, and you invariably say no, they don't ask the annoying follow-up, "Would you like to sign up for one?", which is usually a buzz kill because then you have to saying "no", and then you feel guilty, and then sometimes they even make another attempt at selling you on the rewards card with grandiose promises of its benefits, and then you have to say hey you don't come here that often, and then they say "well it's free," and then you just have to look at him and say "no thank you" with absolutely nothing to back it up... So, yeah, they don't do any of that. They even have one of those swirling water baths that can cool down your wine rather quickly. read more

From reading the other reviews I wonder if I went to the same wine store, just to be clear I am reviewing the store located between Ithaca coffee and Kinney drug. I am giving today's experience 1 star. When I came in there were three people behind the counter and a couple more in the back room I wandered around looking for wines to fill my case after searching through all of South American wines I went up front to asked if they had any torrontes. He said never heard of it. I said it is a type of grape not a brand, he said he would look it up, the computer yielded no hits. He said nope don't have it and went back to staring off into space. I am not used to a wine store being so hands off, I was buying a case and at no time was I offered help and when I asked for help and i understand they may not have any but I have an expectation of follow through so that I could get something close to what I was looking for. I will not mention other stores but I won't be coming back here, when there are wine stores with better customer service in the area. read more

This is our neighborhood store and during COVID we have been having a bit more wine than normal (usually just once a week and now maybe twice a week). This place has a great selection, the staff are wonderful, and they have things laid out nicely. A good local business with a local owner who cares about Ithaca. read more

A couple years ago, my daughter gave me a gift of Triphammer Wine DELIVERED! Now Andy, and sometimes Andrew, bring 2 or 3 cases of Wine up my steps, and place them directly in front of my liquor closet.....and they don't even object to my furry girl begging for a treat. read more

Great selection of wines,reasonable prices, good location - what's there not to like? Top of the list of Ithaca wine stores in my opinion

I had been buying an Ithaca themed gift basket for my mom next door at Ithaca Coffee Co. when I decided to stop in here and purchase her a bottle of local wine. Mistakingly, and without even thinking, I brought my friend in with me. We were the only ones in the store, and I noticed that the cluster of employees gathered at the register weren't exactly warm and welcoming. One employee in particular, a young, curly-haired redhead, seemed to be watching us like a hawk. I felt really uncomfortable. I finally found a bottle of wine, and my friend carried my stuff from the store next door back out to the car. I went to check out - the redhead told me she'd help me at her register. Before even greeting me, she demanded to see my and my friend's ID's. When I told her my friend was under 21, she responded quickly and coldly, "then I can't sell to you." I said "oh, okay" as she interrupted me with "it's the law." I left the store, without even so much as "have a nice day" from her. I understand there are certain laws and policies in place, and I'm not upset about not getting the wine (I simply went to a different store and left my friend in the car), but the whole customer service experience here made me feel really awful, and I left feeling like I had committed some awful crime. My friend and I both are from out of state, and I turned 21 recently, so we weren't familiar with this law, and that's our bad. But to treat customers like they're criminals as soon as they walk in the door just because they're young college students is unfair - especially considering the employee herself looked 22 at the most. Not everyone is from the area and knows what obscure liquor laws are in place, and it's unfair to not give customers the benefit of the doubt. If she would've kindly explained the law to me, I would've smiled and understood. As someone who's worked in customer service for years, I know that it's not too difficult to simply be kind to customers. Overall, I think I'll stick to other liquor stores in the area. So far, this is the only one I've had a poor customer service experience at, and their local selection is pretty limited. read more

Prices are reasonable and they host wine tastings about once a week, and occasionally liquor tastings. Triphammer has a lot of selection, but doesn't feel like a big box store, which is how I've come to think of Northside. read more

I used to love this place. It's not the closest wine shop for me, but I've always gone here instead. But I have twice now purchased bottles of spoiled wine. I don't know if this is the wineries or the store handling, but I've never had this experience elsewhere and it's really disappointing. Generally though the store is always clean and well stocked. I agree with the other posters about the customer service issues, though I would say it depends who is working. Half are extremely curt and the other half are friendly. Name tags might help with feedback. I have also felt the suspicious staring some of the others mentioned, though oddly it's only when I go to the hard liquor section. It makes me extremely self conscious and I feel like I have to rush out. I'd really like to keep shopping here, so I hope bringing up these issues helps. read more

I tend to rotate between Triphammer, Red Feet, and Northside depending on what I am looking for, but I felt the need to review my latest experience with Triphammer. I had a $50 gift card that had the number incorrectly printed on the card. When I went to use it the other day, a staff member and the manager not only spent about 15 minutes to ensure that I got the full credit, but both were very apologetic and the manager looked over my selections (Mostly French) and gave me a bottle of Languedoc he personally suggested! I plan on shopping at Triphammer much more often in light of the excellent service I received. read more

I've only dealt with the online store but I have experienced incredible customer service. I had to return and reroute my order several times and the staff have been prompt, courteous and helpful in dealing with the issue. They took a stressful experience and made it much easier to deal with. I never write yelp reviews but felt compelled to because of how great the service has been! read more

Unbelievably rude. Refused to sell to a group of 21 year olds because the driver of the car was too cold to sit and wait in the car.

Yes, service really sucks. No greeting the customer upon his/her entry of the store, no offers to help, rude and incompetent check out personnel. The selection is OK, the store is not crowded and rather roomy but the the personnel attitude is sub par. Three or two women are usually at the check out. They can only work the register, nothing else, no knowledge about anything, gift cards, specials, nothing. They can stare in amazement and incomprehension though. Particularly annoying is the middle aged one. No manners to speak of, to say nothing about customers service abilities. The young man (Carl?) is more competent and polite. I was coming here many times and getting the same attitude every time but the convenient location was bringing me back. I will stop with this from now on. Will take my business to Northside Liquor downtown. Selection is similar for my purposes but the customer service is far better. read more
