During my last visit, I came with a friend and the staff member behind the counter was not only friendly but also had a great sense of humor. I couldn't find my ID (it was hiding behind my phone, classic me), and the staff cracked a joke that had us both laughing. I can't really comment on how helpful the staff are with giving suggestions since we knew what we wanted, but their friendliness definitely made a positive impression. We picked up a whole bunch of wine and some soju, and there was still so much more to explore. The selection here is pretty extensive as they have some local options. Cheers!

They also have a good array of sake at the back. Wide price range from $8 bottles of crap to $60 bottles of excellent wines from legit names. They also have decent hours: I believe they're open every day and stay open fairly late (although the hours on Google were incorrect today, it said until 10 and they closed at 8 so I was glad I called). Their main downside is the staff working. It's a slew of very very nice, young college age women who are as sweet as can be but know nothing about wine. This is not meant as judgmental, I also knew nothing about wine at their age, but you simply cannot establish yourself as a serious wine shop without employees who can answer basic questions about what's in stock. Again, they have all been extremely nice. I don't blame the employees for this but just a note to the owners that some training would be extremely beneficial. Overall will absolutely go back. No competition in collegetown.

They have a surprisingly large selection for such a small store and the people working are INCREDIBLY helpful. I asked for their Jenny and Francois selections and the associate pointed out every single bottle they had available including a couple I tried and loved. This is definitely a store where you can trust the workers' recommendations, you may just pay a few bucks extra per bottle for it. Reminds me of sea grape in nyc or everyday wines in Ann Arbor. They know their stuff. I did feel like they were pushing the high $$$ bottles though - for example one of my favorite wines (a Jenny and Francois orange - hey Linus- at $20 a bottle) was one of the last recommendations they gave even though he claimed it was "one of their best popular orange wines". Idk, it just felt a little bit like cost was not a consideration when providing recs; im sure some people are money blind but the vast majority of people I know would prefer a great value $20 wine over a $75 splurge. Overall these people know their stuff; but their stuff might be pushing expensive bottles. Either way you can def trust their recs. Decent hours, I think 11-8 or so?

I've come here twice to pick up wine and a liquor, and each time I've left satisfied with both the price I pay and the product I walk away with. They have selections of lots of different and diverse wines (both local, national and global). Their liquor selection isn't huge, but they carry the basics; same for spirits. The advantage here is convenience; it's close to the Commons, only being half of a block away. Even if the selection is small, I like coming here on quick notice when I just want to get in and get out. The man working the desk, despite what others are saying on Yelp!, is delightful. He's a bit sassy, and he's willing to ask and answer questions... and he's a straight-shooter who tells you how he feels. I found him hilarious and entertaining, and he was helpful reccomending wines as well. I'll be back.

After searching numerous (about ten) liquor stores in Tompkins and…read moreCortland County for the ever elusive Marie Brizard white mint - no one, not one liquor store claimed to sell it. A little strange, but whatever. So I proceeded to order on line, and lo and behold, the website said it could ship it to me, from, guess who? That's right, Judd Falls Wines and Spirits. Wtf. Called them back and the guy said they did indeed have it in stock. Mind you, just the week before they said they didn't have it. Drove the ten minutes to finally secure the rare Marie Brizard creature from the store. Told the clerk I just called for the precious white mint and he told me he had no idea what I was talking about as the other guy I previously spoke to was now off duty, or some shit. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! This new guy never heard of it and didn't know where in the store it could be. I tucked my temper back in my drawers and located three bottles of it on a shelf. Bought all three and skedaddled. I don't know what's up with Judd Falls Wines and Spirits and their feebled employees but I'll stop whining and keep my spirits up.
