New favorite lunch spot! I know this chain has been around for some time now, but I recently discovered how amazing it is and I've been obsessed ever since I took my first bite. It's a fast-casual vibe offering delicious protein bowls, wraps, and salads. My favorites are the Chipotle Mango Avocado and the Ginger Lime Peanut bowls. I usually stick with grilled chicken and brown rice, but sometimes I'll get the shrimp and a half lettuce - half rice base. Honestly, all of their flavors are incredible! Now, don't even get me started on their sweet potato chips and queso on the side. The chips come complimentary with any bowl, wrap or salad, and now they even offer their new BBQ flavor. The original is still my favorite, but the BBQ is great too. The original seasoning is just out of this world, and if you like BBQ flavor I highly recommend trying them. The ginger lime peanut bowl was exactly what I was looking for ... something HEALTHY and DELICIOUS! It came with cucumbers and red peppers along with carrot and sprout pieces. The brown rice and sauce coming on the side kept me on track as far as staying healthy. The sauce IS very good though and has a subtle zing. The chicken seemed to be a mix of both dark and white chicken and I wish there was an alternative to the sweet potato chips. Chips and still fried... you're not fooling me I was served right away by friendly staff and they had upbeat "shopping" music playing, keeping in line with the Avalon atmosphere. The place was exceptionally clean with staff cleaning the floors and tables constantly. I only gave 4 out of 5 stars because the price is a little high. $15 after a $1 tip is kinda steep since I don't eat chips so will be giving those away and most of the meal is rice. Also - I find this all over, so not Gusto's fault, but the checkout almost forces you to tip 15% or more since the staff is smiling in your face while they show you the screen to sign and 15% is the lowest amount (unless you tip nothing or edit a custom amount). Gusto at The Avalon needs a deep clean immediately. I would not recommend anyone to eat there until the Health Department inspects the restaurant. It is clear as day that they are only concerned about making money and not the customers experience and health. Also, the staff looks sweaty and unkept. They don't bother to speak or greet the customers as they enter the restaurant. It's a complete hot mess and they will never get a dime of my money. And to be at The Avalon is a complete disgrace to the shopping center and customers expecting to have a healthy meal and a wonderful experience. The restaurant was nice and clean, they were busy for lunch but they had plenty of open tables. I opted to get my food to go, U ordered the grilled spicy chicken 1/2 brown rice and salad Mediterranean bowl. It was as delicious as the first time I tried it. The bowl looks small but I had a hard time finishing the entire thing. All the ingredients were fresh, the chicken had a nice spicy flavor and the avocados were creamy. I grabbed a can of Recess blackberry chai hemp infused sparkling water, because I thought it looked unique and my family member might enjoy trying it. I wasn't paying close attention, but when it rang up, the cost was $6 for one can. Later I went online to do some research and apparently a six pack of this beverage can cost around $50. The beverage is supposed to help you relax. So, while the place appears all cool and trendy with its corner location in the Avalon, the taste of the food didn't wow my family. I enjoyed my visit to gusto! located in Avalon. It has a very interesting concept. You can choose from a preset list of mixed sauces. I liked how they have pictures of each one which helped in my decision-making. Then you choose your protein. And lastly, you pick your base between rice, mixed greens, 1/2 and 1/2, or flatbread wrap. We chose the Chipotle Mango Avocado and Chile Sesame BBQ with grilled chicken and a 1/2 and 1/2 base. They mark down your order then prepare it fresh. The one thing I wish was that they had a glass counter so you can watch as they prepare your meal. Both meals tasted really great. The flavors all went together so well. And I'm glad they offered a 1/2 and 1/2 option. I think each offers a different experience for the meal. Parking can be a little limited at peak hours. We came into Avalon, across the street, around 6 pm on a weekday, and the place had maybe 1-2 parties inside. As you come in, there are two entrances. The entrance near the parking garage side is to the check-out area, and the entrance from the middle of the Avalon shops feeds you into the order counter/menu. Everyone in the store greeted us immediately. One of the managers, I believe, asked us if we had ever been in; we had not. So he explained how to order, and we did. When we came in, there was a BUY ONE GET ONE FREE ENTREE deal going on - I didn't have to use my coupon. Saved it for another day at Avalon! CHIPOTLE MANGO AVOCADO: (X2). 1 without avocado and 1 without pico, both served on rice with a side of plantain chips in a paper bag. You had your choice of their sauces, which were AMAZING! I chose the house non-spicy sauce and my husband their spicy sauce. Drinks are extra $2.50 apiece. They have a freestyle machine, and you can refill as many times as you would like. You order at the front counter, pay at the register and your food is delivered to the table of your choice. All meals include delicious sweet potato chips. I've ordered the same thing a number of times because I really like it. The Chipotle Mango Avocado Flatbread with grilled chicken is so flavorful! It includes grilled chicken, avocado, black beans, mango, lettuce, and rice. Employees are extremely helpful in providing suggestions. You can order a flatbread or a bowl. My only complaint is sometimes the flatbreads are more full and other times it doesn't have as many ingredients inside the flatbread and I'm still a bit hungry. The soy dressing is the spicy bbq part. It's slightly thicker than bbq sauce and the soy flavor is a little strong. I actually didn't use the sauce because the chicken and veggies provided enough flavor for me. They offer catering, online order pickup, and delivery with UberEats, Postmates, Doordash, and Grubhub. If you live in metro Atlanta there's probably a store that delivers to your area. There's a pick up area separate from where in-store orders are placed. I need more Gusto! in my life! I had it a while back at one of the Yelp events and loved it. Since there are not conveniently close to me, I honestly have forgotten about it. Getting a coupon from the Yelp swag got me wanting to try Gusto! and knowing it's just a few blocks away. Alpharetta is growing so much! I've been to the Avalon area once only a long time ago when I had to pick up my bib number for a 5k. I thought the area was cute. Since then, it's grown a lot. Gusto! has same concept as poke places except there isn't raw meats! Yay! I am not a fan of raw meats that's why I don't like sushi. Plus now, I am meatless. They have tofu but I hate always having to sub tofu for meat. I was glad that I could sub avocado instead. I haven't had that happen since 3 years ago when I was in DC and sub avocado for meat for a taco. I rather have avocado than tofu or seitan or any fake meats! I got the chili sesame bbq because I didn't want any dairy products. I opted for the wrap. Of course, I got avocado! Even without the coupon, the wrap + fresh sweet potato chips were still a good price range. Food came out quick and paid with credit card. When I got to my car, I took a bite, it was sooo delicious! I received a card for a free entree a while ago and have been anticipating trying gusto for quite some time. I was fortunate enough to find an empty 10 minute parking spot (there are only a few) right in front of the restaurant. There are social distancing stickers on the floor and signs saying payment is only cashless for now. The one thing I was displeased about was needing to touch the terminals to input rewards and credit cards, but was not provided with hand sanitizer. Fortunately I always carry some in my bag so it wasn't that big of a deal; it just would have been nice. I decided on a wrap with umami tofu and selected the special Buffalo Buttermilk Blue (would have been $10.75). The wrap was pretty skinny so I was able to wolf it down no problem. I was expecting it to be larger. The tofu was tasty and had a great texture. The style of the wrap was nice. They asked if I was okay with rice in it. I agreed and it wasn't a lot really, but was an interesting addition for a wrap. I am not sure if this is true with all proteins or only the tofu. I did appreciate them asking, however. The flavor was not too spicy, and not overly creamy. The wrap came with fresh sweet potato chips which were yummy. I really have had my eye on the Ginger Lime Peanut, but opted for the special because well it won't be around forever. I am really looking forward to trying the other styles. My boyfriend and I love this place, and we would always hit it when we traveled down to the airport or were in the area, because they have several locations around but none our way. I remember and this is dating me back to how long I've been on Yelp, but they had a Yelp event years ago when this owner of this now franchise opened the first one in the Buckhead/Midtown area. I remember how good the food was, and still is today. I'm so happy to see how well his restaurant has been received and now he has several locations. Wow! We both love eating healthy, and my boyfriend has got me on a protein kick, so it's a great choice for some healthy carbs and healthy proteins. Their chipotle sauce is so bomb. We both love it. The staff is cool, and they get your meal prepped so fast. Basically you can pick a wrap, salad, or a bowl. We always get the bowl with the brown rice, and the chipotle mango sauce. Their spicy chicken is great, not dry, seasoned well. It also comes with these amazing sweet potato chips. We both love anything sweet potato, so we love they offer this, and it comes free. I am such a fan. If you don't like chipotle, they also have ginger lime peanut, chili sesame barbeque, tahini cucumber feta, soy sriracha, tzatziki sauce...something for everyone. Gusto is located in the Avalon, but they really picked a great spot, because parking is more open in that section. The restaurant is nice and bright, fast service, you can't go wrong here.
