Good afternoon. I ordered a potato, egg, and cheese burrito with a cup of coffee, and my total came to $20. This is unacceptable. Charging $20 for a meatless burrito and coffee is excessive and not a good value. I left feeling disappointed and won't be returning. Absolutely HORRIBLE experience at Gus Lock and Key. This was by far one of the most unprofessional businesses I've ever dealt with. I was quoted $550 over the phone for a BMW key, but the moment I showed up and she saw my car, the price magically jumped to nearly $1,000. Completely dishonest and misleading. When I questioned it, the employee got extremely rude and dismissive instead of explaining anything. Her attitude was terrible from the second I walked in--very condescending, irritated, and acting like she was doing me a favor just by being there. At one point she even said she "didn't need my money" and didn't have to help me because she already makes enough. That alone tells you everything you need to know about how they treat customers. On top of that, the shop smelled strongly like a dispensary, which made the whole environment feel even more unprofessional. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. There are plenty of other locksmiths who actually value their customers and honor their pricing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I walked in at 5:35pm needing a key for my car. The key had broken out of the remote a few minutes earlier and the car wouldn't start. I needed it ASAP and I knew they were closing soon but they were able to help me out. The guy I spoke too said they could go to my home and get it done there for an extra fee since I didn't take the car with me. The lady arrived in the work van and the key was done in less than 10 minutes. It was super fast and we even tested our the key and it worked perfectly. In the future if I ever need a key service. Well the snoopy people in the office got a hold of payroll files and had a look at stuff that was none of their business. After disciplinary actions were handed out, we had to go and get new locks on the file cabinets. I took a look at Yelp and it wasn't very helpful to find a brick and mortar place honestly but then I spoke to my neighbor in the bldg and they recommended Gus' place without reservation. I took a short drive and met Yvette there at the shop. She was super nice and helpful and rekeyed my file cabinet lock in a heartbeat. I needed up buying a personal safe for my house there also and will be coming back to bring my old skeleton key locks so she can find keys to them and I can finally lock the doors to my house after 15years! I actually did not go to their shop, but I did speak to them on the phone and I have to say first of all they were really nice and they really did help me out. I was calling about a specific type of lock. Unfortunately, they couldn't do it there, but they did send me to a place that Was able to help me with this problem. I mean just the fact that they took their time and help me locate another locksmith,, right there speaks volumes. So, have any of you ever tried a DIY project and realized part way thru that it was not a smart move? I was going to take off my door lock and replace it with the google nest lock. Easy right? NOOO! I started by removing screws and pins and handles and had taken everything apart and the door was now inoperable - BUT the entire unit wouldn't come out. I tried you tube and manufactureres instructions. Then I began to panic. I needed to leave the house tonight and now I had a door that wouldn't lock and the pieces were all over and jumbled up. And then I realized it was beyond my scope and needed to have someone come fix my screw up. I called Cris from Gus' locksmith and had the BEST experience. I called him from positive yelp reviews and said I had screwed up and needed a locksmith to come fix my royal FU with trying to remove my current door hardware and locks. I So he said he could definitely help me by coming to do the work but went further and said if I could send him a picture of what I had he might be able to walk me through it so I could remove it on my own. Well I like to think I'm handy but I had screwed it uo. But two phone calls and 5 confusing pictures and descriptions later - it was fixed!!!! He helped me take care of it over the phone. No charge. No waiting. He helped me fix it myself over the phone. What an honest and ethical person! He followed up to make sure it was working and practically congratulated me for being able to do this! If I had to give any star to this person it would be no stars. I have to give them one star in-order to write this comment. I've been going there for years and years working with them. They are very expensive, but they are a local from my shops in downtown. I needed them to open up a cabinet that belonged to my friends mom that had recently passed away. He was going through a very hard time so they offered me a price and I let my friend know so he asked me to try to get a better offer so he could open the cabinet the correct way. And allowing them to sell the cabinet and make some money for his mothers burial. What happen afterwords was very rude, obnoxious low class. When I ask for a discount, Arvidson, asked me to leave his shop! When I try to explain to him about my friends situation, even though he knows me for so many years, and we work so much together he practically asked me to get out in a very rude way. I don't normally write reviews but I would love to support this local business! My car keys have been broken for awhile and after they broke even more I decided now was the time. This place is located less than 2 miles from my work place so I went mainly for the convenience and the good reviews I had seen online, and I really sure am glad I did. Everyone here is quite friendly and honest. I surely don't know much about transponder keys but I didn't feel like that was an issue here. Everything was explained to me in terms that I would understand. My new key was made within 30 minutes of arrival and I was on my merry way home. I went back the next day because I had some questions with the buttons but it wasn't their fault, my keys are simply old and fading away. The inspection was free of charge and they were so kind. People need to come here for their key services! Parking is a bit hit or miss.. Usually the front has a taco truck so it takes up a lot of space in front. You may be able to park on the side of the building just a bit away from Gus Lock & Key... I opted to Lyft the second time around so I didn't have to worry about parking. Overall, great experience. She was very communicative too before she came she explained to me that she was on another job and how long it would take. Got keys made today. They weren't the ones that say "Do not duplicate" on them so it was easy to get them made. It's a father & son operation and the son was friendly & informative and made 10 copies for me. Easy. The shop is easy to find and street parking is easy. You can just park your car on the street right in front of the store. Easy. What was delightful to find was that they have all sorts of "designer" keys you can get, with flowers on them, tiger stripes, disney characters, fashions, etc. Really cute keys... So I purchased those instead. I know I'm going to get lots of compliments on my keys now. I called and asked about having my key fob copied. The guy on the phone was nice and informative and said 175$ for the key copy. I came into the store a few days later and this other guy that I did not talk to on the phone said that the price was $250 which is way higher then the original quote was. I told him that I was quoted 175 and he brushed it off saying that the guy was wrong and he brought up paying his rent and some other things that had nothing to do with it.
