Had a day eating at Krog Street and saw Gu's sign that they had the best dumplings in Atlanta. The dumplings were flavorful. The wait time was about 20 minutes and the employee gives you a buzzer. I ordered them to-go so they were packaged well with a decent sized container with a lid.
I ordered food to be delivered from here for the second time today and decided to try the Chongqing Spicy Chicken. It was not as flavorful as I expected it to be and had very little chicken in it. Honestly, it wasn't that spicy either. I added chili oil to it and it was still kinda "blah." I would like to suggest adding more bok choy as this was the most tasty part of the dish.
Gu's dumplings are amazing and should be a must stop if you are nearby ...or even if you're not. Don't let the other food in the food hall, or a long line, or anything, really, sway you away from this awesome food. The dumplings and noodles were both full of flavor, were served hot and fresh, and totally hit the spot. While the price may seem a bit high, the quality was 100% worth every bite and dollar. I can't wait to get back and try something else.
Gu's has really good dumplings but I didn't get a picture this time! Ordered the pad Thai and it was delicious! The service is always super friendly! Located inside Krogg so the atmosphere is always fun! A plus about Gu's is they have free refills on their fountain drinks!
While the sauce was tasty, it was doing all of the work. The actual chicken was unseasoned. I recommend cutting the dumplings in half and letting them soak up some of the sauce. There wasn't a line at the stand and the service was quick. The main seating area is nearby which makes it a convenient stop.
There is certainly a trend in Atlanta in recent years: starting on Buford Highway, then relocating into the city center. Hayakawa, Food Terminal and Gu's top that list. Gu's started with Gu's Bistro on Burford, closed that down to open this Krog location and now has a new spot on Burford again called Gu's Kitchen. Gu's dumplings is a Sichuan style dumpling joint, presenting well constructed dumplings in plentiful soy based sauce. Ran by Chef Gu and his family, these dumplings are known as Zhong Style and may be less familiar in the Western Cuisine. The style hails from Chengdu area of China in the Southwest. And, this is a one of a kind delicacy that is very hard to rival. It is clearly a time proven classic dish of Chinese cuisine. Boiled dumplings, bursting with pork flavor, a delicate dough that does not fall apart, revealing a cooked garlic finish profile every so subtly, Gu's is a special place in the city. As a big plus, no MSG is used in the kitchen here, so don't worry about being thirsty after or potentially poisoning yourself!
I have been to Gu's Kitchen on Buford Hwy several times and I had the chance to revisit Gu's Dumplings at Krog Street. I ordered the pork dumplings and Dan Dan noodles that I have had many times at Gu's Kitchen. The dumplings were just as amazing as always but the noodles were not as favorable as I remember from Gu's Kitchen. I added sauce from the dumplings to assist with the flavors.
The quality of this place has gone down. Don't bother coming here. Seriously, save your money and go elsewhere. I decided to order Uber Eats as I was too tired to do rideshare here. I ordered General Tso's chicken, chicken fried rice and the pork dumplings. The only saving grace for this restaurant is their dumplings, because everything else is tasteless and terrible. The rice tasted old and general Tso's chicken had no taste or flavor. Such a waste of food and money. Took several bites and threw it all away. I barely drank my taro milk boba. I don't understand how their fried rice is bland and tasteless. You could totally just add soy sauce or oyster sauce when cooking. If you're reading this, save time and money by frequenting another place. The quality of the food here has gone completely down in the last several years. I will definitely not be returning.
I've been wanting to try this for a long time. I got the half order of pork dumplings and dan dan noodles. $30 for both items and it was just alright. Nothing special about the food and way overpriced. I wouldn't come back again.
Service was very friendly. We had Zhong Style Dumplings, Chengdu Cold Noodles and Spicy Dry Eggplant. Only the eggplant dish was good. So disappointed with dumplings and noodles. Chengdu Cold Noodles was swimming in an extremely sweet savory sauce with nothing but a few strands of beansprouts and a little sprinkle of sesame seeds. No shredded cucumbers or green onions. Sauce is supposed to be savory sweet, sour and spicy with Szechuan peppercorn's mala, a mouth numbing spiciness. It is supposed to be refreshing. It is nothing like the Chengdu cold noodles. It's a joke! They charge 16.00 for this! Who are they fooling! Zhong Style Dumplings is not at all like it used to be. It shares overly sweet sauce with Chengdu Cold Noodles and non of spicy mouth numbing mala. When they first opened in Krog Street Market, their food was adjusted to suit the clientele of the area. It was tamed, but not bad, but what happened now! Very disappointing because when Gu's first opened on Buford Hwy, they served true Szechuan food from Chengdu which is the center of Szechuan province. It was excellent and no other Szechuan food like it in Atlanta area. Unfortunately they closed the original location and opened Krog Street and another one on Buford Hwy. Buford Hwy location is nothing like the original one. Small servings at higher prices and the taste seem to have changed. It's all about catering toward masses with uneducated palate. Yes, they are trying to be trendy at Krog and Buford Hwy location. Buford Hwy location's interior and service wares are modern, but without substance. Extremely disappointing to lose once a great food.
Stopped here for lunch while walking along the beltline. The spicy chicken was good, but very dry. Probably will try another entree next time instead of this. The string beans were the best!
I think I liked the Dan Dan noodles more than the pork dumplings and the homemade thick noodles. Overall yummy espically the chili sauce but didn't quite meet the hype. Fast service. Hard to find a spot to sit during the dinner rush.
Good, but I don't know that I could call the food life-changing. The dumplings were just fine and the sauce was nice, a little bit spicy and just a tiny bit sweet. However, the filling seemed a little dense and the wrappers were thicker than I might have expected. The Chengdu noodles were also pleasant, a good choice on an unexpectedly hot day. No cilantro, like many Sichuan places would add, but that's a huge point in their favor as far as I'm concerned. I had a short lived heat afterburn going, so that was enjoyable. Fast albeit indifferent service. I would return but there's no way I could call this either the best dumplings or best Chengdu food I've had.
I am very pleased and satisfied! I customized the mapo tofu to have less peppercorns and it was still very flavorful and had good spice. I'm a big fan of mapo tofu and it did not disappoint--great lunch. I also enjoyed my Pork Zhong Style Dumplings. They were unique and the wrapper had good texture and was not too doughy--the ratio of meat/filling to wrapper was perfect! Would be back! I ordered takeout and they were still hot. read more

I visited the food hall in Atlanta, and I absolutely fell in love. They have more Asian varieties however, I am not a sucker for a good dumpling and I order the pork dumplings and it was so delicious a little bit of spicy, but a perfect amount of spice. I got the sweet, savory and umami flavors and I would love to go back again and try it. It was such a great portion for six. The milk tea Boba was amazing to. I did believe that they said it was a non-dairy cream base and I didn't have any issues so I believe it is non-dairy. Try it out and let me know what you think. read more
This place lit me up! I mean that in so many ways. It lit up my taste buds. It lit up my heat-o-meter and I definitely felt it later. It also lit up my wallet, because damn, was it expensive! All in all, the food is a 5 here, so was the service of the young man working the counter. I understand things are always (needlessly) more expensive in these food halls because they are paying higher rent, but even by those already established knowns, it was a really pricey meal. In my case, I was on vacation, and taken on just how delicious things were... I would have gone again. We got the handmade sweet and spicy noodles, a 12 piece order of pork dumplings, and the Chongqing spicy chicken. The stars of this were definitely the dumplings and the noodles. The doughy texture created by not using anything pre-made is extremely evident, and where I am from, there are actually not any places at all to get hand-pulled noodles, so this was a treat. We ended up dipping as much as we could in the sauce that surrounded these noodles, including the Chongqing chicken, which even by my high heat standard definitely lived up to the 3-pepper rating on the menu board! My wife and I both agreed, we would eat these often if we could access them at home, despite the high price. The chicken was also really good, but I ended up eating it mostly alone. It was just too spicy for most at the table, and by eating it more of it myself, I paid the price later. In the end, I would not reorder this, mainly just because I'd want to try other things. The Krog street market was neat, but I do hate how expensive these food halls make things. You would imagine there would be some economic gain to restaurants using a shared space like this, but since they are trendy, it makes it cost more. read more
I got 12 of their famous Zhong style dumplings ($15) and didn't know it was a popular spot until I walked around Krog street. It had a tangy, sweet, and spicy flavor because of the sauce. I wished it had more green onion or garlic flavor, but otherwise it was pleasant to eat as a snack/appetizer. I only had an issue with the top dumplings being colder/lukewarm than the bottom ones. The service/pickup food area was chaotic though with a bunch of bags piling up and confusion with order names. read more
There are a lot of food stands to choose from while visiting Krog Street in Atlanta...it can be pretty difficult to make your choice! Gu's Dumplings, located inside of Krog Street market, is a highly rated and popular spot to enjoy top tier dumplings in Atlanta. This spot has won several awards for how tasty the dumplings are. You must order either the half order (6 dumplings for $10) or the full order (12 dumplings for $15) to start your meal at Gu's Dumplings. We went with the Half Order Pork Zhong Style Dumplings. I also ordered a "side" of the tasty and perfectly breaded Szechuan popcorn chicken for $10. To compete my meal, I ordered a side of white rice for $2. Eat your meal at Krog Street or walk to the Historic Fourth Ward Park and enjoy a picnic! read more

They were flavorful. The pork filling was well-seasoned and the dumplings are in an oil/sauce, so I did not add anything additional to what they already seasoned the dumplings with. I had a half order which meant 6 dumplings for about $10. I waited about 5 minutes for them to be ready, and I sat at the market's tables to eat. read more

Gu's Dumplings serves some of the best noodles I've had. The Dan Dan noodles are just spicy enough, have a perfect texture, and a wonderful sauce. They're my favorite. The cold noodles are simple but addicting. The hand pulled noodles are excellent when fresh, but when they're colder they tend to get a bit chewier. That's okay, because it's the only complaint about the noodles. The dumplings are at least the second best I've had anywhere. Six will fill you up if you want a big snack. Skip the meat and sandwich options because while good, they're not great. But that's kind of the point, everything is at least good or better. Just go straight for the noodles or dumplings and you'll love your meal! Food comes out very quickly and the line moves fast. The staff makes it a point to be efficient which is very helpful. The market has parking garages that are almost joined to it. Parking as of July 2023 is $5 for an hour, $8 for 2 hours, or $10 for 4 hours. There is no validation that I'm aware of. Seating can be tough because you're competing with a dozen other venues However, it's a great market to come alone, with a date, or with a family because it's a great vibe. read more

My brother and I were visiting Atlanta for the first time and looking for something quick and delicious to grab for lunch after checking out some art along the beltline. We had planned to check out Krog Street Market anyway, so when I stumbled across some positive reviews for Gu's saying they have the best dumplings in Georgia, that settled it. I had dumplings, veggie spring rolls and an apple soda (meh, that one didn't do it for me). Overall, I'd say they lived up to the hype. The chili oil the dumplings are coated in is incredible, the dough was perfectly springy and the filling delicious. The spring rolls were equally good- with a perfectly crunchy wrapper, flavorful filling and great dipping sauce. Service was fast and friendly. We had our food in under ten minutes on a busy Saturday at lunch time (took us longer for a seat to open up than it did for the food to be ready). I'd go out of my way to come back to Gu's if I was in the area again. read more
With all the options at Krog Street Market, I was happy my friend recommended me to this one for their dumplings. Since we were at the stall, I figured to try their Half Order Pork Zhong Style Dumplings in addition to their Handmade Sweet and Spicy Thick Noodles. The dumplings were filled with juicy pork and coated in a sweet and slightly spicy soy sauce which was also the same for their noodles. Being called "thick" is an understatement as they were certainly larger than udon noodles but perfect for soaking in their delicious sauce. These make even better leftovers the next day when they can be further immersed with the flavors. Will definitely be coming back to try more items from their menu and recommend others to do the same! read more

Got to try quite a bit of Gu's menu and loved everything I ordered. I see why the they named the restaurant after the dumplings because these are honestly sensational. The pork is typical packed into this perfect dumpling that has a nice chew. The Po Boy was unlike any other po boy I've ever had. The chicken they use is unique to me and works perfectly in a sandwich. The chicken also works on its own as I ordered a little container of those as well. The Dan Dan noodles with pretty good but not as memorable as the rest of the order. Everything had a good amount of spice! read more

Food was delicious, came with a really good sauce to dip the dumplings in and they came out really quick. Overall really great, little pricey but considering the area what can you expect. Would recommend read more
Some of the best dumplings ITP and in Atlanta. Krog Street Market must be charging them an insane amount for rent, because the prices are a bit higher than expected. $27.22 before tip for Zhong Style Noodles ($15, a bit high) and for the half order of (6) chicken dumplings ($10, WELL worth the $$) The ambiance is busy and noisy, as it's a stand/counter in Krog St, but you can find everything you want there, and more. Gu's SLAPS, and the service is quick and kind. 8.5/10, would recommend :) read more

Why are the green beans so expensive? $13 dollars for a rather small bowl of green beans. Tasted great, but really...??? $13 dollars....?
It's because you're paying their rent in that ridiculous market.
