If I could give a negative score I would. My 2020 Ford Explorer died in the middle of an intersection nearly 3 weeks ago. It has been there since we had it towed. They fixed my fan system in my expedition but in doing so made it where the driver seat only blew hot air (the rest of the vehicle blows cold) they were going to charge me $150 to look at each issue ($450) I had and said it wasn't related!!?? One star is too kind for their body shop! Stay clear of this highly mis-managed body shop. My truck is still not right after 15 months from the date I picked it up. I have made many attempts to communicate with their manager and so has my insurance adjuster. Lately they won't even return my calls. First time I picked up my truck I only got a few miles before a turbo coupling blew off from the intercooler, I had it towed to a dodge dealership for the coupling repair. Gurley Leep painted the after market hood and fender before fitting them on the truck. The alignment near the windshield is terrible. They claim that they don't get enough to pre-fit panels which is body work 101. I have found all sorts of mistakes, missing and broken fasteners and clips and things that don't fit or work properly. A high school automotive class could do better work. They collected around $11,000 to fix the collision damage, I am SOOOOO disappointed that I took anything to them and never will again. read more

I bought a car here last week with a full inspection done saying that they fixed everything need. Then after just a week my car's ABS light popped back on and they told me I had to pay 150 dollars for each diagnostic test on whatever. Turns out after 4 days of waiting I have to pay 1k for a part that they were supposed to fix and wouldn't fix it for 4 days until they got approval which I said they could have the first day! I have bought 5-6 cars from here. Most recent purchase is a 2016 Lincoln. I bought all the extra warranty packages that they recommended. Extended warranty, tire/rim package. Everything. Well here I sit with tires that won't hold air and 4 wasted trips to their service department to tell me that the tires can't be replaced with the warranty. So you tell me my tires don't hold air and that isn't cause for a fix with new tires? After being "fixed" 3 times? They sell garbage warranties that they don't want to do the leg work to make them beneficial to the customer. Also take your warranty paperwork in EVERYTIME because they will try to dispute you having a warranty and will tel you that they are too busy to look it up. What a joke. read more

I purchased my Escape in 2014. Every year since I have had this vehicle the air conditioner goes bad. When I bought the vehicle I also purchased the extended warranty. Well my air went out again this year and it's not under warranty from the other three times it was in and now, I find out the extended warranty is no longer valid. On top of this my 2012 Escape has rust which is not under warranty even though Ford is well aware of this issue. I will NEVER purchase another Ford and absolutely NEVER purchase from Gurley Leep Ford. This dealership is just a joke and absolutely worthless in their customer service. My car had the beeping sound you hear when the seat belt is not fastened or the door is open. I took it in to Gurley Leep Ford on Ireland Road in South Bend, Indiana. The car has now been in their shop for 2 weeks and I have incurred $2,000 in repairs and they are now waiting on the final part that they claim will fix the problem. This is not the first time I have had problems with Gurley Leep where you bring you car in for a repair and they suddenly find additional problems that run up the final cost. Was shown a list of repairs performed and an inspection list by the dealer prior to the sale. Was impressed. 6 months later, I need struts (which had been broken for some time), control arms and ball joints. While the dealership identified the last two as being needed while in the shop for a heater core, the most important one was overlooked. While they quoted a price for the ball joints and control arms, which seemed unreasonable, I called around and found the same repair for nearly 40% less and was informed the strut springs had been broken for some time. If you can see the control arms and ball joints, I am confused on how the struts were overlooked. Or, were you waiting to get the arms and joints off and then notify me of the situation on the struts? As I took an unwanted loan out to pay for the repairs, if the lower price of ALL the repairs hadn't been available, my family's Christmas would have been devastatingly reduced. Horrible service department! Went several times over the years. Worst management ever! They have no communication with the customer at all. Had an appointment scheduled for 1:00 pm today. Got there to do an alignment. As I handed the key over, I said go ahead and replace the cabin air filter while they're at it. Talked to the guy in service at 4:05 and said is the air filter in. He said yes they replaced the filter and he's sorry it's taking longer than expected to do my alignment. So, a total of 3 and a half hours later at after my scheduled appointment, at 4:30, the guy in service comes back to me and said unfortunately my filter wasn't replaced because they weren't in stock. So, not only did he tell me they didn't do that state he originally said they did. But, he said I'm sorry there was someone else who had their car on their only alignment machine. He said we wouldn't be able to get to yours today now. He said I can offer you half off if you come back another day and I wait many more hours. Yeah right. What a joke! Don't go there! I'm sitting here for almost 2 hours. I know I'm getting the best service. Everyone in the service department are simply the best.... but they need to fix the waiting lounge. These chairs are awful.... they are so worn out that you feel like you are going to fall through the middle of it right to the tiled floor. If you need my help to remodel just call me. As a customer who has lots to do in a day and is stuck waiting... I should at least have a nice place to stay and a nice chair to sit in. Initial salesman Dave Spencer was so arrogant and chauvinist, that we requested a new sales person. Anna Lapham was wonderful, communicative, professional and honest. We purchased a used car for my daughter. However, everything went down hill when it came to the service dept. We had already paid for the vehicle and took almost two weeks for them to repair the items that they had claimed to have the parts in stock. The story changed many times, they have the parts/didn't have the parts, was told 3 different times that the car would be ready the next day. Finally we were able to pick it up, but within 1.5 month the check engine light was on and we were back to the service dept. We were charged $240 just for the diagnostics. And quoted almost 1,500 worth of repairs. Now, I understand that it is a used vehicle, but the time frame is ridiculous. A good dealership would at least split the cost of the diagnostic charges. The service Dept Mananger Sean Lacey was the worst, condescending and rude. Literally said "what did you expect to have with a 14 year old car? When asked why these issues were not caught during the two weeks of inspections, I was told " we don't have a crystal ball for when things will go wrong. However, for as long as it took for us to get the vehicle, we'd expected them to have done a through inspection. I stated that their lack of customer service is probably the reason for their low rating and was told "well, that's bullshit". This is the moment I hung up. We are very disappointed and will not be going back to or referring anyone we know to this dealership. If possible they would have gotten a zero from us. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM HERE!!!! read more

Not really disappointed in the work, just the effort put in to make things right. Brought our edge in for repair. Electrical so it was going to take a while. No loaners so we had to rent for the night. I don't have a problem with that. What they fixed was not the problem so we had to come back. The part was not there so car had to stay again. Not holding them responsible for not getting it right the first time, but I would think when we have to rent a car for the second time they could at least pick up the tab!! Service Department is a joke. They are handling repairs due to airbag recall. They have been terrible from the start. Issues with getting rental set up and lack of communication. We get a notice from Ford that our parts are in. Gurley Leep tells us when WE CALL THEM that the parts are for other vehicles, they will call when they need us to bring our truck in. Today rental company calls and tells us Gurley Leep is ending our rental at 6pm. We contact service and they said they called everyone and told them parts were in. We got no call and there was no message left. When I spoke with the service manager, Kevin Carlson, he was rude and condescending. He said he wasn't interested in hearing about these issues, he just need our truck to replace the recalled airbag. I called Ford and they said the could not get involved in customer/dealership issues. But the recorded everything and forwarded it to the SERVICE MANAGER for follow up!!! I asked if they could see where I would find this troubling and they said yes. But this was their process and they had to follow it. Left a message for the GM, but I'm not holding my breath. read more

This is (I think) the third time that I have dropped my car off to be serviced at Gurley Leep Ford. I bought this car in May of 2019 from this dealership and I have had several issues where the car shuts off while I'm driving. I had it towed to the dealership last Monday. It is now the next Wednesday and I haven't even heard what is wrong with my car. I have had a few text messages sent to me, but none have had actual updates. When I bought the car, it came with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty that I had to pay for and did not have the option to opt out of. Every time I've had my car serviced there, they question my warranty. Yesterday, I got a text asking about the warranty on my car, which I expected. I responded at 10 am to explain the warranty that I have and I didn't get a response until 2pm the next day, after I sent two follow up messages. They then told me that they found 'a couple of things' wrong with my car (no details were given to me, the owner) and that my warranty had expired. I questioned how my warranty could expire when I haven't met the expiration and I was told that I only had a two year warranty. I was also told that they couldn't 'see everything' my warranty covered over in the service department. Even if I had a two year warranty, it wouldn't have expired yet because it has been a year and a half since I bought my car. Also, why are you asking me to explain my warranty to you when that is an internal problem that you could ask a different department? I responded to the text at 3:30 with proof of my 3 year warranty and was met with no reply. This is the 10th day they have had my car and I still don't know what is wrong with it. They don't take care of their customers and they try to cheat you out of the warranty that they force you to buy. They try to intimidate you in to paying for their service, even though your warranty will cover it. I did have a good experience with my salesman, but every other experience has been absolutely awful. I would not recommend buying a car here and I would never even think about bringing my car back here to get serviced if I didn't have the warranty. The service department is exceptionally difficult to work with and does not communicate well. I cannot wait to trade my car into a different dealership and officially be done with Gurley Leep Ford. read more

I was ready to trade in and buy a new mustang gt. Even had a substantial amount of cash! But they didn't know bc we didn't get that far. I had between cash and trade at least a 40% of the cars price covered. But they showed no interest in selling???? All I got was a low ball offer on my trade-in a car with 20k miles and 27k$ new (perfect condition) for less than half of what I paid at (13k$) they stopped at that and siad take the offer I was given by another dealer. No other negotiations. I have never been told to go else where but they did, I'm used to fighting my way out of a dealer. And they talked me to drive over an hour to come in promising we would have a reasonable deal made. BS read more

Worst car dealer ever! Had an appointment at 4:30 we sat for 20 minutes waiting. Brandy came out gave us keys for test drive. Got back she was with another customer told us it would be 5 minutes waited another 20 minutes & went to the desk to complain she finally came back to us. Then she said she was going to get her loan calculator and we waited another 30 minutes for her to come back. A guy Jeff whose desk we were sitting asked if he could help. I explained to him what was going on he said he'd be right back we continued to wait another 10 minutes. Brandy comes back and is rude to us. We asked for the price of the car she was only coming down $250. My daughter told her we had another car for less at another dealer she then said well maybe you should just go there and buy it!! Disaster! Gurley Leep pulled a bait and switch on me. They had me drive one vehicle and when I went to sign papers they put a different vehicle in its place. I am so upset with them, its ridiculous. I am a single, hardworking mom that they thought they could get over on. Well the one thing I am not is stupid. God showed me the way and lead me to an awesome dealer after many trials with different dealers. Concord cars on 933 in South Bend, IN was able to get me a great deal on a nice vehicle. With an interest rate way lower, and the price of the van was the same price range as the on at Gurley Leep or shall I say the two. read more

First of all, I have never rated a business or complained at a restaurant or returned a defective product. April 2017 I was at Notre Dame showing my high school senior daughter one of many prospective colleges. Upon attempting to leave the campus, my Ford F350 steering column broke in the middle of a packed student on-campus parking lot. Of course it was Friday @ 1800 so the only option was a large flatbed tow truck to the closest Ford dealership parking lot. The next morning @ 0800 I was on the phone with the service manager Mike Campbell to explain the details. My daughter and I changed our travel plans and gave Gurley Leep 5 days to assess and repair which they did in that time frame. I paid over the phone with a credit card (well over $3000) and retrieved my vehicle. Within 130 miles, my front left tire fell off while driving and caused major damage to the hub assembly/wheel/tire etc. Fortunately my daughter and I were only traveling @ 20 mph, so we did not roll or lose control or impact another vehicle. Another flat bed tow truck trip this time to Napleton Ford in Libertyville Illinois. The service manager at Napleton, Mike Norwood, stated that the other (right) front tire was about to fall off as well. Obviously, we were very lucky that we were not traveling at a high rate of speed on the Indiana Toll Road or the Chicago SkyWay. You do not want to be injured or stranded on the SkyWay 180 feet in the air! This repair bill was $4089 (ouch !). Within a few days, I sent a text to Mike Campbell (service manager @ Gurley Leep) informing him of the mishap and I included a picture of the invoice ($4089 from Napleton Ford). The TECHNICIAN on my vehicle was M. SPAHN. I am wondering if he has yet to figure out how to put back on the wheels that he removes and if he has figured out how to tighten the lug nuts. I instructed Mike Campbell to forward this information plus my contact information to the owner of Gurley Leep Ford. Now here we are 2.5 years later........never a response. (Over $7300 including towing fees) Now, if I was the owner of Gurley Leep Ford, I would have contacted any customer who suffers a crisis secondary to faulty workmanship and I would have offered to cover all of the expenses......no questions asked. They like the customer who agrees with their numbers, no questions asked. If you debate their numbers on a trade in or price of vehicle your interested in, you get the typical back and forth from salesman to finance manager. Sarcastic remarks then follow. If anyone has the floor to be sarcastic, it's the customer. Put "All Prices Firm" at the entrance then. Instead of using the black book (NADA) which any other dealer would use, ( and what the next dealer did use), they use KBB to justify a low TIV on your vehicle. West coast style..... After a few rounds of this, your told that "there are 5 customers behind you wanting the same vehicle." Now that is the true essence of customer service. I'm certain this is a common theme/tactic. I did buy the same exact vehicle at another dealer with more options, same miles, for 1500.00 less and got 1100.00 more on my trade......NADA. I wanted to sell cars at one point, but I'm a terrible actor. I recommend buying from a small reputable used car only lot or a private seller. Knowledge and research is power. A two to three year old car is just as good as a new one. Save your dough. read more

This business is not ethical in their business practices. They told me they put $1900 in a car then made a false receipt up and showed it to me. Labor $900 some odd amount then parts $1000 roughly the car I had seen the day preceding and it wasent even detailed went over the next morning the price went up $1000 on asking price and the bill of falsehood they said they could not sell it for less. Needless to say I drove to jim wood motors got a better car and better deal and better service thank you God. read more

My wife and I recently purchased an used 2014 Fusion from Gurley-Leep. We traded in our 2012 Focus which we had also bought there. When we took delivery of the car we were only given one key. Our salesman guaranteed that he would find the second key or he would buy it himself. Several months later we still don't have the second key. After numerous calls and emails we were told that we would not be given a second key because it was not costed out in the price of the car. I was told the salesman does not work at Gurley-Leep anymore so they can't hold him to any promises he made. I was told that they would sell me a key at their internal cost- forget that. I don't care what I have to pay for another key, I will not go back to Gurley-Leep and if I can keep one person from going there it will be worth it. read more

Went to get my new birthday windshield wipers and to check about my rear seat belt buckle replaced. I was told I have to make an appointment. I asked if I could just purchase the seatbelt buckle and the service manager said I could, but it maybe covered under warranty. Made a appointment for the next week. Went to my appointment at 9:00 was told at 10:15 they had a OwnersCare Summary for my repairs. Mount and balance 4 new tires $572.00, wheel alignment $149.95, front brake pads and front rotors $415.00, brake fluid exchange $149.95, air filter element $22.00, air induction system service 159.95. And the seatbelt buckle NOT Covered under WARRANTY $257.50. A half hour later I left with my new wiper blades. I called another Ford Dealer and purchased the new buckle original Ford parts $44.00. Went to a automotive repair shop and had the buckle installed for $25.00. Thank you Gurley Leep, I saved $189.00 for my seatbelt buckle replacement. read more

Took out 2015 Ford escape in for an oil leak from vehicle when vehicle has less then 13,000 miles. Waited almost a hour for them to diagnosis it even with an appointment only then to be sent home so they could order parts. When we brought it in to be repaired we told them about our navigation system freezing while we were driving. When we picked up the vehicle after the repair we found out that they did not address our concern with the navigation. We scheduled another appointment to have it looked at after the navigation froze while driving in Indy while using it. When we received a survey from Ford about the service we received my wife answered honestly. The day before our third appointment at Gurley Leep which is 45 minutes from our house the service manager 'Kevin' called my wife and bullied my wife out of coming in to have her vehicle repaired under factory warranty. He made her feel inferior and guilty about giving them an honest review. Mentioning multiple times how his pay was affected by her review and not apologetic about not repairing her vehicle when was originally in the shop. He specifically asked her not to come in for her appointment because he only cares about his pay and not about taking care of his customers. I am appalled that his actions are acceptable in any business. We will be in contact with Ford about this and will be letting everyone know about his actions. I am in the automotive industry myself and I will be informing my customers of how Gurley Leep allows their management to bully women. read more
